Love Islander revealed as former X Factor star with incredible link to Beyoncé
EXCLUSIVE: Love Island star Yasmin Broom might have only been in Casa Amor for a short time, but she definitely made a lasting impression - and she's been booked and busy ever since She might have only popped into Casa Amor, but Yasmin Broom made a main character entrance – and left like the icon she is. From X Factor girlbander to globe-trotting DJ, the Manchester native has been booked and busy since stepping out the villa (literally the next day). While her Love Island journey with Gio didn't end in a fairytale, Yasmin's not letting any man fumble her vibe. With sets for YSL, Prada Beauty and even Beyoncé under her belt, she's proving she's that girl – on and off the decks. But it hasn't all been glitz and glam. From being the only Black woman in a girlband, to feeling overlooked in the dating scene, Yasmin's kept it real about navigating the industry – and the Island – as a Black woman. Here, she chats to about mic'd-up madness, her dream collab with Rihanna, and why the only 'type' she's entertaining now is husband energy… Hi Yaz. How have you been? How has life been post-villa? Not too bad, it's been hectic to say the least. Like, literally flew back on Friday and then it's just been go go go since. DJ bookings have come in now—it's crazy but I love it. How did you get into DJing? I started in lockdown basically. I used to be in a band – Four of Diamonds – and during lockdown we couldn't perform or do anything. So I thought, what can I do? I taught myself to DJ using YouTube. Then when we stopped the band, I was like, 'I need to make some money.' I just went to clubs in Manchester and London like, 'Let me DJ, please!' I couldn't really DJ that great at the time, but they gave me a chance. The first club that gave me a shot was Tape in London. The fee wasn't great, I had to pay for my train and hotel—but I was like, 'You know what, I'll do it.' And it spiralled from there! I started playing for YSL, Prada Beauty, Sol de Janeiro, L'Oréal… What's the most surreal place or brand you've DJ'd for? Probably Tottenham Hotspur Stadium—for Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour. I'm a massive Beyoncé fan, so when I got that call, I was gassed! So, what made you want to go on Love Island? I tried the dating apps - I met some of my exes on them and Instagram. But men don't really approach in real life anymore. I mean, it didn't work out with Gio, but overall, I did enjoy my time in the villa. It was surreal, and I made some amazing girlfriends—me, Emma, and Rio are planning to meet up when Emma gets out, have dinner and catch up. You had a connection with Gio - were you surprised he didn't bring you back to the main villa? Yeah, I was surprised. We hadn't had any other conversations that made me feel it wouldn't happen. It was very last minute. But I think he stayed true to himself - if he didn't feel the connection, there's no point forcing it. But you assumed you were a done deal? 100%! Even the girls were like, 'Oh yeah, you guys are solid.' We were all like, 'You're coming back to the main villa!' But he just walked in alone. Do you think that's a pattern with the boys? Changing their minds last minute? Yeah, they're not serious. They change their minds so fast—it's like kids in a candy shop. A new sweet comes in and they're like, 'Oh my God!' But then they want to go back to their original sweets again—like Harrison with Toni! You were on X Factor with Four of Diamonds - why did you break up? We were signed to EMI - they dropped us after the first lockdown. We tried again, but we were all spread out—Manchester, Birmingham—and financially, it wasn't viable. So we stopped. Did Nicole Scherzinger give you advice? She was lovely—we wanted her as our mentor. She called us her favourite girl band! We were gassed but got Louis instead. He was great too. Simon—so nice. Not what you'd expect—really sweet off camera. She told us to block out the noise, do what we wanted as a four. That's stuck with me to this day. You're a Black woman in music. You've said people don't take you seriously as a DJ—how do you navigate that? It's tough. Some venues don't book me - maybe because I'm a girl, maybe because of my skin, I don't know. But you just know. I go up and down the country with my backpack—no label, no help. Just me. In 2025, that shouldn't still be happening. Do you feel it affects your dating life too? 100%. In the villa, I wasn't anyone's 'type'—you always get that. I even asked Gio if I was his type. He said yes, but still. It's hard. But my husband is out there. Did Simon ever talk about signing you? No, since he wasn't our mentor. But as soon as we came off the show, Virgin reached out to our manager. They wanted us, and that was the goal—to be signed to a major label. And how did that feel? Amazing. That was everything we wanted like that was the whole goal, like to get signed a major record label, and they're like one of the greatest, like they helped us so much, like taught me so much as well, like I had so much knowledge from the girl band in my life now, like with DJ. You've worked with a lot of artists — can you tell us who you've collaborated with, both solo and in the band? Yeah! So when I was with the girls, we had songs with Burna Boy, Saweetie, Mr Eazi, Jonas Blue. And then, as a DJ, I've played for Beyoncé, Ne-Yo, Pitbull, Kaytranada, Sabrina Carpenter... You even performed at Parklife Festival right before Love Island, right? Yes! I did Parklife literally two weeks before I went into the villa. I wasn't sure what was happening with Love Island yet, so I just confirmed Parklife and hoped it would work out — and it did! Who's been the best celeb to work with so far? Probably Ne-Yo. He's really lovely and down to earth. He actually makes time for you. Sometimes you meet celebrities and they're not what you expect - it ruins the perception. But not him. He was great. Who would be your dream person to play for? Rihanna. Oh my gosh. If I DJ for Rihanna, then I'll know I've made it. I'm obsessed! I'd love to DJ a Fenty Beauty event — that would be so good.

Bey debuts gold horse during tour as she swaps out perilous Cadillac prop
Beyonce debuted a mechanical gold horse on stage in Atlanta on Thursday after previously using a red Cadillac convertible. The singer would usually suspend over the crowd in the car although the Cadillac prop suddenly tilted amid her June 28 concert in Houston which caused the singer to abruptly stop the show. It is not the first time that the singer, 43, has used a horse as a prop while performing on stage. During 2023 during her Renaissance Tour, Beyonce used a sparkling silver horse - which mimicked her Renaissance album cover. She kicked off her Cowboy Carter Tour earlier this year in April - and is in support of her eighth studio album of the same name which was released in 2024. She is set to perform two additional dates in Atlanta on Sunday, July 13 and the following Monday. The singer will then travel to Las Vegas later this month where the tour will conclude on July 26 at Allegiant Stadium. Late last month, the mom-of-three was forced to abruptly stop her show after the flying car she was riding on seemingly began to tilt midair. The moment occurred at her Houston concert on June 28 and stunned audience members, who had captured it on video. The red convertible, which is normally in an upright position, could be seen at an obvious slant as she soared through the air during her 16 Carriages performance. 'Stop,' Beyonce could be heard sternly saying. 'Stop, stop, stop,' she further commanded, concern evident in her voice. The crowd inside then grew quiet before they erupted into a mixture of yelling and cheering. The vehicle, which was attached to various cables, was slowly and safely brought back down to the stage. It's unclear what exactly occurred but according to various social media accounts, her car began to tilt in the air. According to the Houston Chronicle, her car had stopped moving midair. contacted representatives for Beyonce for comment but did not immediately hear back. According to Hot New Hip Hop, Beyonce left the stage floor briefly after her car was properly lowered to the ground before coming back to wrap up the performance. The singer then resumed performing her song and thanked her fans with a heartfelt message. 'I wanna thank y'all,' she told the audience, adding, 'for loving me. If ever I fall, I know y'all will catch me.' The Cowboy Carter Tour, officially titled Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour, is Beyonce's ongoing concert tour in support of her album Cowboy Carter. It's an all-stadium tour, featuring 32 stadium shows in the U.S. and Europe - and will conclude on July 26 in Nevada.

Beyonce makes MAJOR tour change after terrifying stunt left her hanging and screaming midair
Beyonce has made a major change to her Cowboy Carter tour just weeks after the singer was left hanging midair during a terrifying stunt. The Grammy winner, 43 — who has sparked fear in fans that she could possibly retire — took to the stage in Atlanta on Thursday where she debuted a mechanical gold horse which she rode inside the Mercedes- Benz Stadium. Up until last month, she had ridden on a red Cadillac convertible which would suspend over the crowd — but the prop began to suddenly tilt amid her June 28 concert in Houston which caused the singer to abruptly stop the show. However, Beyonce has since made the slight alteration to her tour this week with the flying gold horse. She notably sits on the prop as it soars through the air while belting out her country track 16 Carriages. It is not the first time that the songstress has used a horse as a prop while performing on stage. Back in 2023 during her Renaissance Tour, Beyonce used a sparkling silver horse - which mimicked her Renaissance album cover. The star kicked off her Cowboy Carter Tour earlier this year in April - and is in support of her eighth studio album of the same name which was released in 2024. She is set to perform two additional dates in Atlanta on Sunday, July 13 and the following Monday. The Crazy In Love hitmaker will then travel to Las Vegas later this month where the tour will conclude on July 26 at Allegiant Stadium. Late last month, the mom-of-three was forced to abruptly stop her show after the flying car she was riding on seemingly began to tilt midair. The horrifying moment occurred at her Houston concert on June 28 and stunned audience members, who had captured it on video. Despite the terrifying stakes, Beyonce appeared calm whilst in the car. The songstress, now safely on stage, then resumed performing her song and thanked her fans with a heartfelt message. 'I wanna thank y'all,' she told the audience, adding, 'for loving me. If ever I fall, I know y'all will catch me.' The incident, which occurred in her hometown of Houston, is not the first time she has suffered from a mechanical issue during her Cowboy Carter tour. In May, the songstress was captured in fan video on the final show of her five-night run in Los Angeles as a robot on stage failed to hit its mark. During one section of the concert at Inglewood's SoFi Stadium, Beyonce took a break to sit on a large gold thrown as a robotic arm that wouldn't have been out of place in a factory attempted to pour a bottle of liquor into her glass on one of the throne's arms. But the robot upended the bottle just an inch or two away from the drink, and instead poured the liquid all over the golden chair she was sitting in. She was supposed to follow up the over-the-top display by taking a sip of her drinking and grabbing a remote control on the other arm rest as if to turn on the TV before vegging out. But the Texas Hold 'Em singer — who was dressed in a busty white Western suit covered in sequins and tassels — looked surprised and embarrassed as she briefly picked up her glass and realized that it was empty. Her mouth started to curl into a smile as she quickly returned the empty glass to its spot on her arm rest. But Beyonce managed to tamp down her smile and continued with the act as she picked up the remote and flicked it as if to turn on a television. And in June, Beyonce lost her chaps on stage during a show in London. The diva from Texas was walking while singing as the fringed chaps fell to the ground as she looked astonished, according to TMZ. Her look was a gold plunging bodysuit under gold fringed chaps with high heels and sunglasses as her accessories. The site claimed that she 'effortlessly performed' during the embarrassing incident as she slid down to pull the chaps back on. The Cowboy Carter Tour, officially titled Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour, is Beyonce's ongoing concert tour in support of her album Cowboy Carter. It's an all-stadium tour, featuring 32 stadium shows in the U.S. and Europe - and will conclude on July 26 in Nevada.

'I got paranoid and isolated' Lizzo felt she 'could die' amid lawsuits before Beyonce saved her
Lizzo felt "very paranoid and isolated" and like she "could die" amid facing sexual harassment lawsuits from her former backing dancers. The 37-year-old singer and rapper was accused of creating an "abusive work environment", and in 2023 she was sued by some of her former backing dancers who alleged they had been "sexually harassed and weight-shamed" during their time of employment. Following the allegations, Lizzo - who has always denied the claims - "pushed everyone away" and assumed everyone "hated" her. Speaking to Women's Health US magazine, she said: "You look around and think about every person you've ever known and every experience, and you wonder, 'Was that real?' "I got very paranoid and isolated. I used to walk into glam and be like, 'Oh, let me tell you about this crazy s**t that happened last night!' "I couldn't do that anymore. I pushed everyone away. I wasn't even talking to my therapist. I wasn't present. I wasn't open. I wasn't myself anymore. "It got to the point where it's just like, well ... You ever get tired of living? "It got to the point where I was like, 'I could die.' "I never attempted to kill myself or thought about it, but I did think, 'If everyone hates you and thinks you're a terrible person, then what's the point?' " Lizzo - whose real name is Melissa Jefferson - sat with herself for "a long time" during her isolation period, but she eventually took her "life back" after heading out to watch Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour. Despite being "nervous" that people might boo her, Lizzo was pleasantly surprised by the public's positive reaction, and it made her feel that she didn't want to die. She said: "It made me feel like, 'Wow, maybe I don't want to die. Life is worth living.' "That was the kick-starter to me being like, 'Okay, Melissa, get your ass in gear and take your f***ing life back.' "

Lizzo Says Beyoncé's Concert Reminded Her ‘Life Is Worth Living' After Lawsuits Sent Her Into a Depression
Lizzo recently went through a difficult time, but after attending one of Beyoncé's concerts, the Yitty founder realized that nothing can break her soul. In a candid conversation with Women's Health published Tuesday (July 1), Lizzo opened up about how seeing her idol perform kickstarted her healing journey after struggling for months with depression and isolation. The hitmaker attended the Renaissance Tour in 2023; that year, she was hit with an ongoing lawsuit from three former backup dancers accusing her of sexual harassment and toxic work conditions, all allegations Lizzo has vehemently denied. More from Billboard How Lizzo Channeled Weezy, Missy Elliott & Her 14-Year-Old Self for Her Rap Mixtape: 'I Was Calling Myself 'Lizzo Wayne' Charley Crockett's Second Album of the Year Is Arriving Soon: 'I Don't Gamble. I Just Risk It All' Marcus Jordan's 'I Can,' the First Song He Ever Wrote, Hits No. 1 on Gospel Airplay Chart 'I was so nervous,' she told the publication, noting she was worried that people in the crowd would 'boo me or be like, 'F–k you.'' When fellow attendees instead embraced her with encouraging remarks, Lizzo says she was inspired to pull herself out of that dark period. 'It made me feel like, 'Wow, maybe I don't want to die. Life is worth living.' That was the kick-starter to me being like, 'OK, Melissa, get your a– in gear and take your f–king life back.'' Lizzo has since embarked on a fitness and mental wellness journey, re-emerging stronger and more self-assured than ever ahead of the release of her upcoming album, Love in Real Life. But things were dark for quite some time, according to the musician, as the legal action against her made her question everything. 'You look around and think about every person you've ever known and every experience, and you wonder, 'Was that real?'' she told WH. 'I got very paranoid and isolated. I used to walk into glam and be like, 'Oh, let me tell you about this crazy s–t that happened last night!' I couldn't do that anymore. I pushed everyone away. I wasn't even talking to my therapist.' The backup dancers' lawsuit came in August 2023, with the plaintiffs accusing Lizzo of pressuring them to touch nude dancers at a club, commenting on their weight and private sex lives, and forcing her religious beliefs on them. Some of those claims were dismissed by a judge in 2024, but the lawsuit was still ordered to move forward; in June, however, Lizzo filed an appeal aimed at shutting it down for good on the grounds that the dancers' claims clashed with her First Amendment rights. In September 2023, Lizzo was hit with a second lawsuit, this time from a former member of her style team claiming she'd faced a 'culture of racism and bullying' while working for the Grammy winner. Again, Lizzo denied any wrongdoing, with her attorneys calling the claims 'meritless and salacious.' 'It got to the point where I was like, 'I could die,'' Lizzo recalled of the public backlash she faced in light of the lawsuits. 'I never attempted to kill myself or thought about it, but I did think, 'If everyone hates you and thinks you're a terrible person, then what's the point?'' Despite everything, the businesswoman knows she always has Bey. The Destiny's Child alum's discography is a go-to for Lizzo during her workouts, and the 'Truth Hurts' artist even got a personal shout-out from Bey on many nights of the Renaissance Tour during 'Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)' — something that made Lizzo cry when she witnessed it in person. 'In that moment I was thinking about baby me, listening to Happy Face by destiny's child and crying myself to sleep because of bullies,' she wrote on Instagram shortly afterward. 'It's an honor. Thank You @beyonce.'
