CCTV footage shows the alleged can thief carrying out a heist in broad daylight A GAA club in Monaghan have been left 'deeply disappointed' following the theft of empty bottles and cans from their bins. Éire Óg club in Smithborough were collecting the empty containers as part of an initiative to raise money for their juvenile teams. Members of the club deposited their empty cans and bottles in a designated bin, which were then to be swapped for cash under the Re-Turn scheme. 'We were deeply disappointed when we noticed the theft of our bottle return bins, which were part of our fundraising initiative for our juvenile teams,' they said in a statement. 'The bins which were placed throughout our grounds are designed to collect recyclable bottles with all proceeds going directly to our juvenile fund. A video of the heist shows 'a single man opening the bins with a key and loading the contents into his car,' they said. 'The loss to the juveniles is estimated to be in the region of €200.' Sharing footage of the theft to social media, the club said: 'As Many have noticed a few weeks ago we installed 4 bottle return bins in order to raise much needed funds for our Juveniles. 'Unfortunately as seen in the Video, this Gentleman reckons he's entitled to help himself with the contents. 'If anyone knows this fella please message the page as he owes us a donation,' they continued. Club officials said that other GAA clubs in the area running similar initiatives have also been targeted. 'It appears he has been travelling around a number of other GAA Grounds doing the same in a Saloon type 2009 Renault Megane.'

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a crash between Dunblane and Doune. Emergency services were called to the A820 at around 6pm on Monday. The crash involved a black Renault Megane and a blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The 70-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to Forth Valley Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries has not been confirmed. The driver of the Renault Megane was uninjured. Constable Andrew Wood said: 'Our inquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash are ongoing. 'We're appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened to please get in touch. Man dies after crash near Stansted Airport

A man in his 60s has died after a crash near Stansted Airport, police said. Officers were called at 02:30 BST on Sunday when it was reported a silver Renault Megane had left the road near to the Esso service station on Start Hill, Essex. The road was closed while emergency services responded but reopened shortly before 08:00, Essex Police added. The force appealed to anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
