AFRY to acquire Brazil's Reta Engenharia
Engineering company AFRY has signed an agreement to acquire Reta Engenharia (Reta), a Brazilian company that offers project and construction management services and holds a prominent position in the mining and metals sector.
With over 200 employees, Reta contributes local expertise that will enhance AFRY's capabilities in key industrial sectors across the Americas.
Reta's key competencies will bolster AFRY's current operations, which encompass more than 1,200 employees in Brazil.
This acquisition also strengthens AFRY's position in supporting the global energy and industrial transition, particularly in the mining and metals sector.
The transaction is contingent upon meeting operational closing conditions and is anticipated to be finalised in the third quarter (Q3) of 2025.
AFRY global division industry head and executive vice-president Nicholas Oksanen said: 'This is a strategic step for AFRY as we expand our footprint in the Americas.
'Brazil plays a vital role in sustainable industrial development, and Reta's capabilities will strengthen our position from the early stages of client projects. Combining their niche expertise with AFRY's global platform creates a strong foundation for future growth in the region.'
Reta has positioned itself as a provider of high-value services such as construction management and site supervision.
Operating across various industries in Brazil, the company oversees a diverse portfolio of capital investment projects and local operational services. Reta's net sales for 2024 reached approximately Skr135m ($14.1m).
Reta Engenharia CEO Marcus Cassini said: 'Joining AFRY defines a new and important chapter in the history of Reta Engenharia. We share a strong vision of technical excellence, sustainable development, and the promotion of shared value for clients and employees.
'This milestone strengthens our ability to deliver comprehensive solutions, expands professional growth opportunities for our team, and reinforces our commitment to transforming knowledge into a lasting legacy for society.'
Earlier this month, AFRY was selected as the technical advisor to lenders for a solar and battery energy storage initiative in the Philippines.
The Terra Solar project, boasting 3,500MWp of solar power and 4,500MWh of battery storage, is poised to become the world's largest such installation, with development split into two phases and completion set for 2026 and 2027, respectively.
