Huge ITV drama ‘facing axe' dealt fresh blow as creator quits after he's slammed for woke storylines

He said: 'I'll probably hand on the baton after this series. I'll still be involved, but I've written 42 episodes and don't want to repeat myself.' In an interview with the Royal Television Society, Chris added: 'I wouldn't write it if I didn't have something to say about the state of the nation. 'Because Unforgotten has an inherent and robust structure, that allows me space to hold up a mirror to British society — it's a Trojan horse show.' But the show, which also stars Sanjeev Bhaskar as DI Sunil Khan, has been slammed by some viewers for those 'Trojan horse' storylines that deal with themes including immigration, racism and the Covid crisis. Taking to X, one remarked: 'I reckon one more series and this show will get mothballed or even fully axed. Unfortunately this one is a real box-ticking leftie crowd-pleaser.' Another posted: 'The woke mind virus has even taken hold of #Unforgotten' Another added: '#Unforgotten is forgettable. Another drama has gone woke.' A fourth said: '#itv how many woke boxes did you tick in that first episode? Lecturing your audience is so tedious.' Yet another stated: 'Given up on this load of woke garbage, supposed to be entertainment not propaganda.' Chris also said that many viewers still hadn't forgiven the show for losing Nicola, who played DCI Cassie Stuart and replacing her with Sinead Keenan as new department chief, DCI Jessica James. He recalled how he was with his wife on holiday last year and met some American fans who were initially thrilled to discover Chris had written the show. But he said: 'The mood suddenly soured. One of the women went full Kathy Bates and said, 'You killed Nicola Walker!'. Here's hoping he hasn't killed off the whole show, too. Smartly dressed as a pilot, the Would I Lie To You? host can be seen getting the first nail-biting trial under way in the series that is part Traitors and part Race Across The World. And the contestants are in for a wild ride. The show, which launches later this month, sees them board a blacked-out bus where they are fed clues – and a few nasty red herrings – with one simple question at the end of each episode: Where in Europe are you? A £100,000 prize awaits the winner. But with the amount of Euro facts we'll all learn along the way, I reckon some of us will win big at the next pub quiz too. GLAD SPIN-OFF IS BACK THE Gladiators spin-off prank show proved such a hit with viewers it's back for a second series. I can reveal it will be shot when the lycra-clad muscle men and women convene this month to film the conventional show for BBC One. Gladiators: Epic Pranks is aimed at youngsters and sees the likes of Phantom and Giant playing tricks on one another, and members of the public, for the sadistic amusement of viewers. There will also be the celebrity spin-off, which usually airs around Christmas, at the same time as the regular show. But the names of the stars taking part have yet to be revealed. Watch this space . . . IT'S A FULL HOUSE IN LONDON MOST of you probably thought The Real Housewives Of London would be a bunch of filthy rich women carping at each other while gorging on various luxuries in the capital. Well, you're wrong – because they also go to Scotland. 4 Panthea Parker is one of the six cast members for Real Housewives of London Credit: Hayu Everything else is true, however, which is pretty evident in the trailer which has just been released ahead of the new show streaming on Hayu from August 18. It's like a game of posh princess bingo, with mentions of diamond bracelets, facelifts, caviar, castles – and, of course, oodles of money. Some of the interactions between the warring women are a delight. In the trailer, one tells another: 'You're just a chronic liar and an insecure tw*t!' Another tells a rival: 'You're a f***ing bitch, a low life and mutton dressed as lamb.' Can. Not. Wait.

I can reveal he is finally stepping into the spotlight with a show of his own, called The Grand Tour With Tom Read Wilson. So Channel 5 hopes to strike gold with their offering, which comes from the team behind Ross Kemp's documentaries, and Josie Gibson's First Class Travel Show. A source revealed: 'The success of Rob and Rylan's series has proved that there's a healthy appetite from viewers for smart, entertaining and comedic journeys through history — and now Channel 5 want some of the pie. 'Tom has long been a big fan favourite on Celebs Go Dating, thanks to his dry wit and one- liners, so it makes sense for him to step more into the limelight. 'Famous landmarks' 'This new series, which will see Tom take on a solo presenting role, combines history and culture as he explores famous landmarks and delves into the stories behind these attractions. 'Filming has already begun and fans can expect to tune in later this year.' Tom first rose to fame as a contestant on ITV singing contest The Voice before finding a home on the E4 dating show. He also made his debut on Channel 5 last year, as presenter of The Christmas Taste Test, which saw him put brands to the test to uncover the best supermarket festive goodies. He has featured, too, in BBC cooking show Celebrity Best Home Cook, as a talking head on Channel 5 documentary Aldi Vs Lidl, and on Channel 4 gameshow Darling, What Have You Done To Your Hair? Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour took home won the Entertainment award at the Baftas last month, after fighting off competition from the likes of Stacey Solomon's Sort Your Life Out and the BBC's Race Across The World. Tom will now hope that when he hits the road, his Grand Tour will enjoy similar success with viewers. AS series two of queer dating show I Kissed A Boy airs on BBC Three, it's been revealed spin-off I Kissed A Girl will also get a second run. He proved as much on The Great British Bake Off's Stand Up To Cancer special in 2018 – two years after Mary quit as a judge – when he served up a disastrous tribute cake to children's TV show Rainbow . . . that was rock solid. 4 Alan Carr, Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding on Bake Off Now, he has revealed his bake was so bad, that after filming stopped on the Channel 4 show even production crew declined to take a bite, except for one particularly hungry cameraman. Chatting on his Life's A Beach podcast, with guest Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood, Alan revealed: 'What people don't know is, they leave all the cakes at the back for the cast and crew to tuck in. 'Mine was intact.' Paul said of show leftovers: 'If I eat it, it all goes and savoury stuff tends to disappear first on set more than the desserts.' But he said of Alan's creation: 'It was bad. 'I've tried to delete it from my mind.'

A TV insider said: "This is a bit of a coup for the Bake Off because Jojo is currently one of the most talked about young stars on TV right now. "She's barely had time to catch her breath, leaving CBB last month amid huge media attention and heading straight into another huge show this month. "It's also a fantastic gig for her because although she already has a fanbase over here, the cookery contest also introduces her to a wider British audience. "Plus she got plenty of experience of cooking in front of the cameras while she was on Celebrity Big brother, though this time she won't have hunky Chris to distract her." Jojo actually became famous for her dancing/baking Tiktoks on the social media site, though they're unlikely to help her much when she's doing it for real. The celebrity version of the Bake Off, whose participants have yet to be confirmed by C4, is being made just before filming of the "civilian" version. Jojo might end up wishing she was back in the house with Mickey Rorrke... The show kicks off this summer with Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond returning to host as well as Paul Hollywood coming back to give the celebs some serious scrutiny in the tent. Channel 4 star Prue Leith has stepped back from all GBBO specials, with cooking expert, and pal, Caroline Waldegrave filling her shoes. Last year, The Sun revealed how Prue had made the decision to step back from the Great British Bake Off specials and focus on the regular series. Channel 4 previously confirmed Prue's close friend Caroline would be taking over her role. Caroline, 72, is a former managing director of Leiths School of Food & Wine, which she bought from Prue in the mid-90s. Married to former Tory politician William Waldegrave, Lady Caroline has also co-written several successful cookery books.

She posted in her story: "Having a blood test today for my anaemia. "Hopefully this one will go well and I will get more medication. I'm not running at the moment and I'm so tired all the time. "Hopefully I'll get some more medicine once my GP has seen today's results... otherwise I'm going to be consistently falling asleep until I die." IT'S the fourth most common cancer in the UK, the second deadliest - yet bowel cancer can be cured, if you catch it early enough. While screening is one way of ensuring early diagnosis, there are things everyone can do to reduce their risk of the deadly disease. Being aware of the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer, spotting any changes and checking with your GP can prove a life-saver. If you notice any of the signs, don't be embarrassed and don't ignore them. Doctors are used to seeing lots of patients with bowel problems. The five red-flag symptoms of bowel cancer include: Bleeding from the back passage, or blood in your poo A change in your normal toilet habits - going more frequently for example Pain or a lump in your tummy Extreme tiredness Losing weight Tumours in the bowel typically bleed, which can cause a shortage of red blood cells, known as anaemia. It can cause tiredness and sometimes breathlessness. In some cases bowel cancer can block the bowel, this is known as a bowel obstruction. Other signs include: Gripping pains in the abdomen Feeling bloated Constipation and being unable to pass wind Being sick Feeling like you need to strain - like doing a number two - but after you've been to the loo While these are all signs to watch out for, experts warn the most serious is noticing blood in your stools. But, they warn it can prove tricky for doctors to diagnose the disease, because in most cases these symptoms will be a sign of a less serious disease. The star admitted her concerns when quizzed about what she might wear if they were to marry Kate Holderness, who she has been in a relationship with since 2004. Adele said: "This is the reason I've not got married, because I don't know what to wear - I'm being serious. Clothes really overwhelm me. "Kate has to pick her moments when she takes me shopping because I just get really overwhelmed with choice.
