Dolly Parton, 79, announces major career news almost 10 years after quitting touring

Dolly Parton announced Monday that she's headed for the Las Vegas Strip this December for a limited six-show run at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The 79-year-old national treasure - who's only a Tony Award away from elite EGOT status - kicks off her mini-residency Dolly: Live in Las Vegas on December 4, and it runs through December 13 during National Finals Rodeo. 'To say I'm excited would be an understatement,' Dolly said in a statement. 'I haven't worked Vegas in years and I've always loved singing there. I'm looking so forward to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you are as well. See you there!' Parton - who boasts 26.2M social media followers - added on Instagram: 'Grab your rhinestones, Vegas is calling!' Jessica Simpson - who calls the legendary country crooner her 'style icon' - wanted to be the first to sign up for the hit-driven concert, commenting on her post: 'Ohhhh I need to be there!' Dolly will regal the Nevada audiences with numerous hits from her seven-decade career, including 9 to 5, Jolene, I Will Always Love You, Coat Of Many Colors. Tickets for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity go on sale this Wednesday at 10am PT and there are four different VIP packages featuring perks like a personal photo opp with Parton, behind the curtain tour, and a pre-show reception at her 'Rhinestone Lounge.' The 11-time Grammy winner hasn't hit the road in a significant way since her 64-date Pure & Simple Tour, which concluded nine years ago. Dolly hasn't had a Las Vegas residency since she concluded her 50-show run at the Mirage way back in 1993. Parton suffered the loss of her beloved husband Carl Thomas Dean, at age 82, from undisclosed causes on March 3 after 58 years of marriage. The Please Please Please singer was only 18 when she famously met the reclusive, retired asphalt road-paver in 1964 at the Wishy Washy Laundromat the day after moving to Nashville from Sevierville to start her career. Three days after Carl's death, Dolly released a touching song dedicated to Dean called If You Hadn't Been There. Parton's multimedia symphonic storytelling experience Threads: My Songs In Symphony will hit up the San Diego Symphony Orchestra next Sunday and it continues in different cities all the way through May 2026. The Dollywood founder's Broadway-bound musical about her life Dolly: An Original Musical begins previews on July 18 for a limited August 8-17 run at Belmont University's Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville. Dolly Parton returns to Vegas for first run of shows in 32 years: How to get tickets

Dolly does Vegas has a joyful ring to it and the country superstar is poised to follow through. Dolly Parton will return to the Las Vegas Strip for her first extended run in 32 years with six shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. "Dolly: Live in Las Vegas" will hit the venue Dec. 4, 6-7, 10 and 12-13 to coincide with the National Finals Rodeo. Tickets go on sale at 1 p.m. ET June 25 via A series of VIP packages will include personal photo opportunities with Parton, an onstage tour and access to Dolly's Rhinestone Lounge. All shows will begin at 8 p.m. "To say I'm excited would be an understatement," Parton said in announcing the limited engagement. "I haven't worked in Vegas in years and I've always loved singing there." The concerts will weave seven decades of hits from the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, with classics including "9 to 5," "Jolene," "I Will Always Love You" and "Coat of Many Colors" expected on the set list. Parton, 79, bowed out of the spotlight for a spell following the March death of Carl Dean, her husband of 60 years. But the indefatigable singer-actress-philanthropist has, as usual, numerous projects in the pipeline. The live production based on her life, "Dolly: A True Original Musical," begins previews in Nashville July 18 with an eye toward Broadway. Her other show, "Threads: My Songs in Symphony," a multimedia experience featuring her songs rearranged with orchestras and guest vocalists, is touring the country through May 2026. Parton also made headlines for her unconventional pairing with hard rockers Motley Crue on a remake of their 1985 ballad, "Home Sweet Home." The song has been reimagined as a duet and will appear on the band's Sept. 12 retrospective, "From the Beginning."
