‘The Running Man' Trailer: Glen Powell Fights To Survive Deadly Game Show In Edgar Wright's Stephen King Adaptation For Paramount
Paramount Pictures has debuted an explosive first trailer for The Running Man, Edgar Wright's adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel, starring Glen Powell, which is slated for release in theaters on November 7.
Published under King's pen name Richard Bachman, The Running Man is set in a near-future society, where a game show of the same name is the highest-rated on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Powell) is convinced by the show's charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben's defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite — and a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall

Wright's feature take on The Running Man is the second, on the heels of TriStar's 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer. He wrote the script with Michael Bacall and also produced the pic alongside partner Nira Park and Simon Kinberg, with George Linder, James Biddle, Rachael Prior, Audrey Chon, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary executive producing.
The cast also includes William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, and Colman Domingo.
