Preacher under fire for allegedly defrauding dozens

ARAVINTHAN A self-proclaimed preacher is under investigation for allegedly defrauding dozens of victims through business dealings, Umrah travel packages and religious school funding, Harian Metro reported. The 39-year-old preacher, who is also embroiled in a sex video scandal allegedly featuring his four wives, is now accused of cheating individuals and companies out of more than RM500,000. One victim, Diyana, 40, claimed her company loaned RM60,000 to support a religious school run by the preacher and paid RM5,000 monthly for its electricity over two years. 'The truth started to emerge when he asked us to supply Umrah bags worth RM40,000. He promised to pay later but never did. After several months, he failed to settle the debt and could not be contacted. 'In April 2023, my husband and a friend confronted him, but instead of resolving the matter, he shouted at them.' Another victim, a 52-year-old civil servant, said he lost over RM9,000 after paying for a bogus Umrah package. 'Close to the departure date, I was told there were various issues. I grew suspicious and requested a cancellation and a refund,' he said. Despite providing a partial reimbursement of RM6,900, the remaining balance remains unpaid so far. KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Keith Foo, 42, has hinted at converting to Islam next year before marrying his girlfriend, actress Riena Diana, 27, after a year of dating. Foo, whose full name is Foo Chuan Chin, revealed that he had extensively researched various religions, including Islam, even before his relationship with Riena began. "After Riena came into the picture, I've asked for some divine guidance, learning to recite prayers and such," he was quoted in a news report yesterday. "Whatever the case may be, please pray for us and see what happens next. I think there might be some surprises next year." In the same report, Riena Diana, real name Nur Qamarina Diana Zulreal, shared the happy news that Foo had asked her to choose a name for him upon his conversion. However, the Kampung People drama star chose not to disclose the name, saying it was too early to reveal such a personal detail for both of them. She added that Foo wishes to deepen his understanding of Islam independently before they tie the knot. The couple also emphasised that they are not rushing into marriage and are waiting for approval from both their families. "We need to bring the families into this matter," Riena explained.

However, actress Riena Diana had something to say to those who accused her of having cosmetic work done on her ears. Inayah Beauty Trading recently shared a video of actress Riena Diana preparing to film a sponsored clip in a park. While applying make-up to her left ear, she addressed the rumours circulating about her. 'There were people saying I'd had cosmetic surgery on my ears. What are you talking about? To those accusing me of such things — are you serious? I did nothing. I just use glue, alright?,' she said in the video. For context, the glue Riena Diana referred to is a special adhesive commonly used in VFX make-up. She explained that it was the reason her ears didn't appear as they naturally do, as she had applied the glue to make them look smaller. After posting the video, many of Riena's fans came to her defence, saying she looked beautiful regardless of her ear size. Some were also curious to learn more about the brand of glue the 'Hello Jodoh' star had been using, as they were interested in trying it on their own ears. This goes to show that just because a celebrity looks slightly different, it doesn't mean they had work done on their face. Sometimes, it's simply just the power and magic of make-up.
