Deepshikha Nagpal On Daughter Breaking Koyla CDs: ‘Affected Me Psychologically'
Last Updated: Despite trying to break free from the made-up persona, Deepshikha Nagpal revealed that she was repeatedly offered only negative roles after Baadshah. Deepshikha Nagpal is a familiar face in the 90s entertainment world. The actress is known for her powerful performances in hit films like Koyla, Baadshah, Dillagi, Rishtey and Partner. Even after starring with bigwigs like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, she shifted to the television industry, as she felt that some wrong choices in films made people judge her. Shedding light on it, Deepshikha opened up about the highs and lows of her acting career. In a candid interview with The Indian Express, the actress revealed how consistent typecasting for playing negative roles took a deep psychological toll on her, both within the industry and at home. Despite trying to break free from the made-up persona, Deepshikha revealed that she was repeatedly offered only negative roles after Baadshah. 'Back then, negative roles weren't respected. 'Yeh toh side actress hai, bure kaam karti hai' (She's a side actress, does bad things). You don't want to hear that when you are living in this society," she said, describing the societal judgement she encountered. This scrutiny wasn't limited to the film industry. Even on television, Deepshikha found audiences and industry peers unfairly labelling even her positive characters. But perhaps the most painful criticism came from within her own family. The actress shared that she found little support from her extended family when she lost both her parents. 'During the lockdown, I reflected on my career, I had done such big films, but when I came home from shoots, no one appreciated my work. Instead, I was told, 'What have you done? Tumne toh kapde utaare iss film mein… Tum toh aise ho, tumhare bacche tumko respect nahi karenge.' I felt ashamed," she added. Recalling a heart-wrenching moment of her daughter breaking CDs of Koyla, the actress expressed, 'All of it made me go silent—It affected me psychologically. I felt like a failure as an actor, in my marriage, everywhere. I was broken inside. I eventually learnt that there's no market for your sorrow, so I never carried that baggage to work. Acting became my escape. It helped me heal." Raised in a conservative household, Deepshikha said that she was the 'typical good girl' who followed all the rules. Butthe public and industry perception painted a very different picture, which left her feeling judged and anxious. First Published:

Memes flood social media as Trump to host Pakistan's Asim Munir at White House for backing Nobel Peace Prize bid
US President Donald Trump and Pakistan Field Marshal Asim Munir are slated to meet over lunch, which has recently been announced by the White House. The lunch invitation is more like a closed-door meeting between both the leaders, which is a major development while the world is currently focused on the Israel-Iran conflict. However, more than the updates and information about the meeting, memes have taken over the Internet about the Trump-Munir talk, with Bollywood being one of the major themes of the same. From scenes of Anil Kapoor and Amrish Puri starrer film Rishtey to Sadashiv Amrapurkar's glimpses from the film Ishq (1997), social media is rife with videos which hint at 'what's going to happen when both of them meet." Then comes an iconic scene from Anil Kapoor's Nayak, which was converted into a trendy meme ahead of the meeting. More rib-tickling memes were shared by social media users, most of which took a dig at the Pak Army leader for the meeting. Some even compared him with a Rajpal Yadav character from the 2009 Bollywood film De Dana Dan. A scene from 'Chain Kulli ki Main Kulli', a 2007-released Hindi film, starring young star Zain Khan and Rahul Bose was also used for these hilarious memes. More funny and viral videos were also seen cropping up on the Internet for this upcoming meeting of the world leaders. The White House confirmed this Trump-Munir meeting through White House spokesperson Anna Kelly, who said the visit came in light of Munir's recent response in regard to Trump's role in halting the escalation of the conflict between India and Pakistan.

'Asim Munir At White House' Memes Break The Internet As Trump Hosts Him For Lunch
Last Updated: The internet seemed to think Bollywood masala was the best way to interpret the significant meeting between US President Donald Trump and Pakistani Field Marshall Asim Munir It may be a sign that US President Donald Trump is seeking to bring an end to the ongoing crisis between Israel and Iran, but internet users had a rather different take on his lunch invitation to Pakistan Chief of Army Staff Field Marshall Asim Munir. The most serious issues take on a life of their own on the internet, but that does not mean they are without context and interpretation. The internet seemed to think some Bollywood masala would be the best way to interpret the meeting between Trump and Field Marshall Asim Munir. 'Cringe' (what the internet calls it these days) was the flavour of this interpretation of the closed-door lunch meeting, with memes depicting scenes from Anil Kapoor and Amrish Puri starrer Rishtey (2002) to Sadashiv Amrapurkar's popular scene from Ishq (1997), which said: 'Donald Trump after meeting Asim Munir." Donald Trump with Asim Munir in White House — Jo Kar (@i_am_gustakh) June 18, 2025 Others, too, were not as subtle with captions like 'Donald Trump and Asim Munir's exclusive video from the White House" or 'Donald Trump with Asim Munir in White House". Asim Munir in White House — Moana (@ladynationalist) June 18, 2025 On Tuesday (June 17), the White House confirmed a meeting between Trump and Pakistan Chief of Army Staff Field Marshall Asim Munir for a closed-door meeting on Wednesday. The last Pakistani military leader to meet a sitting US President was General Pervez Musharraf in 2001, who did so as the nation's head of state during his tenure as a military dictator. The Trump-Munir meeting came as reports speculated on the possibility of Pakistan aiding Iran during its ongoing conflict with Israel. Asim Munir, in a public address in Washington, DC, had declared Pakistan's 'clear and strong" support for Iran in its war with Israel while also backing US efforts to de-escalate the situation. The Dawn reported that one of the most consequential developments during Munir's visit, however, has been Pakistan's strengthened counterterrorism partnership with the US, particularly against the Islamic State Khorasan (IS-K) group. Earlier, overseas Pakistanis protested against Field Marshal Asim Munir outside an event at a hotel in Washington, DC. People shouted slogans 'Pakistanio ke Qatil" and 'Islamabad ke Qatil", 'Mass Murderer Asim Munir", 'Democracy dies when guns speak", 'Asim Munir, your time is up. Pakistan will rise" while he was being welcomed at the event.

Deepshikha Nagpal reveals Aishwarya Rai was originally cast for 'Rishtey', not Karisma Kapoor: 'I was pregnant with my daughter at the time'
Actress Deepshikha Nagpal revealed that Aishwarya Rai was initially considered for the lead role in 'Rishtey' before Karisma Kapoor. She was first approached while pregnant and later accepted the role after hearing the strong story. On set, she shared memorable moments with Anil Kapoor and balanced motherhood with her career. Actress Deepshikha Nagpal is best known for her roles in movies such as 'Koyla', 'Baadshah', 'Dillagi', and 'Partner'. In a recent interview, she disclosed that Aishwarya Rai was initially considered for the lead role in 'Rishtey' before Karisma Kapoor took it. Initial Approach and Pregnancy In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Deepshikha recalled how she was first approached for the film 'Rishtey' by Indra Kumar. At that time, she was pregnant and had to decline the offer. She explained, 'Rishtey, now, every film has a story. So Rishtey came to me when Indra ji called me. I said, 'I can't do it—I'm pregnant.' I was pregnant with my daughter at the time. So I told him, 'I can't do it.'' However, six months later, Indra ji reached out again. Deepshikha noted that back then, filmmakers were patient with actors' schedules. She said, 'He called and asked, 'Deepshikha, are you free?' I said, 'Your film must be completed by now. You must've even started another one.' He said, 'No, the casting has changed.'' Casting Changes and Role Hesitation The actress further added, 'At that time, Aishwarya Rai was supposed to be the heroine, and later Karisma Kapoor was signed. So I said, 'Okay, I'll come and hear the role.' I went to Indra ji's office, and he explained the character. I said, 'No, I don't want to do this. Every time I'm offered a role, I'm either breaking up someone's home or playing someone's second girlfriend, or the man is having an affair with me while being married. ' I told him, 'Listen, I'm done with such roles.' He said, 'Just hear the climax once.' And when he narrated the climax, I said to myself, 'What a strong story! I love it.' I said, 'I'm doing the film.'' On-Set Experiences She revealed that her daughter was just about four months old when she worked on the movie. She was a big fan of Anil Kapoor and felt shy during a confrontation scene with him. Anil joked that getting married would make such scenes easier to perform. She also described a club scene where her character tells Karisma's character that despite her attire, she had slept with her husband. Balancing Motherhood and Career Deepshikha added that the scene was very intense. Karisma often remarked on how thin she looked despite being a mother, to which she would jokingly respond that people should wait until she got married to see what happens. She noted that such comments were common at the time, but nowadays, many people successfully balance work and personal life.
