Glastonbury fans complain over Rizzle Kicks snub after Jordan Stephens' message

Jordan Stephens and Harley Alexander-Sule, known as the duo Rizzle Kicks, performed on the Other Stage at Glastonbury today with Jade Thirlwall among those in the crowd Fans of duo Rizzle Kicks shared their disappointment with the BBC earlier over their set at Glastonbury Festival. The reaction came after bandmate Jordan Stephens had himself issued a message about filming at the festival. Jordan and his bandmate Harley Alexander-Sule, both 33, performed together as Rizzle Kicks on the Other Stage at Worthy Farm in Somerset this afternoon. It marked the duo's return to the festival after making their Glastonbury debut on the BBC Introducing Stage back in 2013. ‌ Prior to their latest set, Jordan announced yesterday that the BBC, the "exclusive broadcast partner" of Glastonbury, would not be filming it. He shared the news in a statement issued to fans on Instagram ahead of their return today. ‌ Jordan wrote: "The BBC are not filming our Glastonbury set. If you're not there you will not be able to watch it back. It might well be once in a lifetime. Who knows." He added at the time: "The set is [fire emoji] and we're buzzin for it." His partner Jade Thirlwall, 32, later expressed disappointment over the situation. The Little Mix member, who is set to play the Woodsies Stage tomorrow, referenced the news on her Instagram Story whilst sharing her excitement over getting to see him perform at Glastonbury. Alongside a selfie, she wrote this afternoon: "What du mean I'm about to watch my bf at glasto when we were dreaming about it this time last year. Rizzle Kicks set isn't televised (booo) so get into it and get here to the other stage lol." Jade isn't alone in her disappointment, with a number of fans having expressed frustration over Rizzle Kicks' set not being available on BBC iPlayer. Several other acts who performed on the Other Stage today, like Franz Ferdinand and Gracie Abrams, were livestreamed. The livestream for that stage however began at 2.15pm, which was after Rizzle Kicks' set. ‌ One fan wrote on X: "Rizzle Kicks not being broadcast at Glastonbury is a travesty, especially compared to some of the s**t that they are showing." Another wrote: "@BBCiPlayer why can't I found Rizzle Kicks. I'm really disappointed." A third person, who had previously requested a livestream be available for the set, later posted: "Thanks guys missed Rizzle Kicks great job." Another said shortly after the duo's set began: "No Rizzle Kicks on iPlayer, sort it out lads." Approached for comment, a spokesperson for the BBC told the Mirror tonight that the broadcaster will be providing more than 90 hours of performances. They said: "The BBC, Glastonbury's exclusive broadcast partner, brings audiences a two-month celebration of the festival this June and July. "Our BBC iPlayer coverage provides over 90 hours of performances, with live streams of the five main stages, in addition to The Glastonbury Channel and over 90 sets to watch on demand throughout July. There is also extensive coverage on TV, radio and BBC Sounds - including over 30 performances and DJ sets that will be available to hear on demand on BBC Sounds throughout July."

Rizzle Kicks fans go wild as Jordan introduces special guest to Glastonbury set

Rizzle Kicks opened The Other Stage at Glastonbury 2019 with a huge, hit-filled set - and frontman Jordan Stephens' mum made a surprise appearance A surprise guest stole the show at Rizzle Kicks' performance on The Other Stage. As the musicians took to the stage at Glastonbury fans went wild as Jordan Stephens made a special announcement. He introduced his mum mid-way through the set and she made a memorable appearance on stage. She donned a green wig during their hit 'Mama Do the Hump', prompting Stephens to exclaim, "Give it up for my mum!" The ecstatic crowd went wild with cheers. ‌ Even the renowned DJ Fatboy Slim, who joined the duo on stage, couldn't match the enthusiasm sparked by Stephens' mum. Despite the chaos, with thousands of fans packed in and jostling to get closer to the stage, the set list was full to bursting. ‌ Among those played were fan favourites like 'Lost Generation', 'When I Was a Youngster', along with some of their latest tracks. In a tongue-in-cheek moment, Stephens stood on a podium labelled "LOSER" during the song 'When I was a Youngster'. However, judging by the crowd's adoration, Rizzle Kicks are definitely winners in their eyes, reports Somerset Live. Elsewhere on Friday, L ewis Capaldi made a surprise comeback. The Scottish singer returned to the stage after a two-year hiatus. Earlier today, Lewis released a new song called Survive. Alongside his announcement post, Lewis shared a video and captioned it: "It's been a while." The new song is full of emotion with lyrics including "I swear to God I'll survive" and "I'm going to get up and live until the day that I die," his first new release since stepping out of the spotlight because of his mental health. ‌ Lewis has been open about his mental health and hypochondria in recent years. .In 2022, he said: "If I'm having a panic attack there's nobody else that can help me out of it except my mum, for sure. "My mum has had to sleep in my bed as recently as a month ago because of how bad my anxiety got at one point. But I think that was alcohol related to be honest, I had been on a bit of a bender." He went on: "It never really reached a tipping point until after getting famous, I never had a panic attack until after I was famous, or after I was a musician or after I got to a height. "The hypochondria - I guess looking back, I was such an anxious kid, but now because I understand it a lot more with therapy and I speak about it a lot more with people and try to learn more about it, I look back at it and think the behaviour was a result of anxiety."

Jade Thirlwall calls out invasive pregnancy speculation amid solo career pressures

Singer Jade Thirlwall says she finds constant questions about having children, with Rizzle Kicks' Jordan, hard to handle as she opened up about the pressures on ITV's The Assembly Singer Jade Thirlwall says she finds constant questions about having children hard to handle. The former Little Mix star, who has gone on to forge a hugely successful solo career, opened up about the pressures to have a family. Jade, 32, has been dating Rizzle Kicks musician Jordan Stephens for five years, and says she finds speculation about her being pregnant 'invasive' on ITV 's The Assembly. ‌ 'The thing that annoys me the most is 'Am I going to have children, am I pregnant?'' she offloads. 'I find it weird that people ask that as they don't know what my circumstances are. You don't know if someone can't have children, they don't want to or aren't ready yet." ‌ "I think it's an invasive question. I've put on a bit of weight since I've become a solo artist. Then people speculate. I'm like 'Babe, I've just had a bit of garlic bread.' I'm bloated. I feel like I always have to be conscious of it.' South Shields-born Jade rose to fame on ITV talent show The X Factor, when she auditioned as a solo singer and was put into group Little Mix with Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson. She launched her own solo career last year with hit single Angel of My Dreams, which won best song at this year's Brit Awards. The singer was quizzed by a group of autistic, neurodivergent and learning disabled people for ITV series The Assembly. They brought some hard-hitting questions, grilling Jade on her talent show days, asking if she'd 'sold her soul' on The X Factor. ‌ 'Maybe a little bit in the beginning,' she winced. 'I was so young and I'd just signed the dotted line. But as the years have gone by and I've got to know more about the industry... it's a bit like Thanos with the stones, I've been collecting parts of my soul back as I've gained more creative freedom and I've learned more about the industry.' Asked if the demise of the show means the end of boss Simon Cowell, she said: 'I think it's the end of that TV show, the end of that era. I don't think it's the end of Simon Cowell specifically.' ‌ She opened up about her first dates with Jordan, 33 - saying she laid down her biggest turn offs straight away. 'We asked each other very serious questions like, do you clap when the plane lands because that's a big ick for me.' She also recalled a disastrous meeting with a budding suitor before they got together. ‌ 'I've been catfished before,' she revealed. 'I met up with a guy at a bar. I didn't know it was him as he looked so different. He was asking a lot of intrusive questions, almost like a journalist, so I got the ick quickly there.' Jade got emotional when asked about the tragic death of her friend Liam Payne last year. 'He was the first friend I made in the industry,' she said. 'We both auditioned for X Factor when we were very young. He was so lovely. He was very talented. He really wanted to make his family proud, which he did. I remember everyone on the show at the time saying this person is a star. He literally had the X Factor. He was destined to be a musician, a singer.'

Ed Sheeran proves he is the most adored celeb as he shares drunken throwback snaps with his VERY A-list pals including Harry Styles and Taylor Swift ahead of releasing 'emotional' new single Old Phone

He has without doubt attracted one of the biggest celebrity following thanks to his catchy songs and witty charm. And Ed Sheeran proved he is the most adored star as he shared drunken throwback snaps with his very A-list pals. The singer, 34, has opened up his ancient camera roll on a new Instagram account ahead of the release of his new single Old Phone on Thursday April 29. The album of drunk throwback snaps sees Ed partying with Harry Styles, more often than not, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Ellie Golding, Gigi Hadid and Usher. Others capture an iconic backstage moment with Ellen DeGeneres, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence and Brad Pit. Alongside the nostalgic pictures, which were taken all before 2015, Ed describes the meaning behind the snaps in the captions. The singer has opened up his ancient camera roll on a new Instagram account ahead of the release of his new single Old Phone on Thursday April 29 (Taylor Swift left, Harry Styles right) Among the snaps captured were very boozy moments from his prime. In one snap, Ed is seen smoking cigarettes and drinking beers with Bruno Mars and Ellie Golding. Another captures a very young looking Ed and Harry Styles with the caption 'Snow Direction'. In a photo with Usher, he writes: ' usher took us to an amazing pizza place in atlanta, we played this game' Ed said he was inspired to write the new song when revisiting his old phone during the copyright lawsuit around his hit single Thinking Out Loud. At the time, Ed denied he had ripped off Marvin Gaye's soul classic Let's Get it On for his 2014 hit song, and in 2023 was cleared in court. Explaining the new account, Ed penned in a new Instagram post: 'Put the sound on and have a listen. I got rid of my phone 2015, and moved onto email full time. I just turned my phone off December '15 and that was it. 'When I got sued, the judge ordered me to give up my old devices to the other sides lawyers, to look through messages, emails, voice notes, videos, etc, to see if there was anything on there to help their case. In the process, I switched on my old phone. Another photo saw him driving to the Teen Awards with Harry Ed and Tinie Tempah pictured in a club in 2010 Another captures a very young looking Ed and Harry Styles with the caption 'Snow Direction' Another saw him out for dinner with James Blunt in Australia Ed admitted looking through the phone made him emotional for a number of reasons, including discovering pictures of his friends who have passed away (The late Mac Miller pictured) He shared a throwback snap of Rizzle Kicks' Jordan Stephens He also shared a picture recording music with good friend Benny Blanco 'The first message was from my friend Jamal Edwards, who had recently passed away. The second was from my ex girlfriend who I hadn't been in contact with for years. The third was a family member I haven't spoken to in a decade. And so on.' Ed admitted looking through the phone made him emotional for a number of reasons, including discovering pictures of his friends who have passed away. He wrote: 'It felt like a time capsule, a time of life that I was in, and living at that time in 2015. Turning it on really spun me out, I found myself scrolling messages and conversations with people who are no longer here. 'I found myself crying at messages to friends who are now dead, who I won't get to speak to again. I found old photos of me with people I was so close to then, but we've lost touch since. 'The whole experience was such an emotional journey. I wrote the song Old Phone on my own at 2am whilst jet lagged in India finishing the album, and recorded it that morning. It feels like a song that should've been on my debut album, but also a song I couldn't have written until I experienced real life things happening to me.' Speaking on the meaningful new song, Ed added: 'It makes me emotional to sing, I hope it finds some emotion in you too. Maybe it makes you switch on your old phone and have a look at where you were a decade ago too. Whatever it does, I'm glad I wrote it. Old Phone, out Thursday 11am EDT / 4pm BST' Ed posted images with the late Mac Miller, who died in 2018, and Jamal Edwards, who passed in 2022, in an emotional tribute. Alongside the picture with Mac, he penned: 'mac took me round pittsburgh in 2015, we played alot of pool and had a really really fun night. miss him'
