The Tesla Roadster Is Meant to Be the 'Last Best Driver's Car," Says Exec
Tesla might be at the center of plenty of controversy these days, but underneath it all, the company is evidently still working on the long-promised Roadster 2.0. The successor to the car that launched the brand has been in development for nearly a decade, and while actual production could still be months or years away, Tesla's vice-president of engineering recently dropped some fresh insider info about the status of the EV sports car. That executive, Lars Moravy, has played a key role in several major Tesla launches. Speaking at an event in California over the weekend, he was specifically asked about the Roadster concept — the same one Tesla famously accepted $250,000 deposits for back in 2017. Customers are still waiting, but it sounds like Tesla is deep in continued work on the project. Moravy began his comments by saying, 'We're gearing up for a super-cool demo that is going to be mind-blowing, I think as Elon says.' He's likely referencing a recent post from Elon Musk on his social media network X, where he said, 'Just left the @Tesla design studio. Most epic demo ever by end of year. Ever.' It's classic Musk: massive promises that, occasionally, become reality. Still, Moravy seemed plenty enthusiastic all on his own. 'We spent a lot of time in the last few years rethinking what we did, why we did it, and what would make an awesome and exciting last best driver's car. We've been making it better and better, and it's even a little bit more than a car. We showed Elon some cool demos last week and tech we've been working on, and he got a little excited,' he said. That 'little bit more than a car' may refer to the long-rumored SpaceX package. Musk has previously promised the Roadster 2.0 would incorporate cold-gas thrusters, and Moravy confirmed that getting the mass where it needs to be in the car for that system is a big challenge. Of course, the Roadster concept debuted nearly 10 years ago, and it's still not in dealerships yet. Clearly, the Tesla team hasn't given up — but until we see it, and more importantly, drive it, it's all still just talk. Tesla Roadster Set to Be the Ultimate Driver's Car
At the recent X Takeover event, Tesla's VP of Automotive Engineering, Lars Moravy, described the upcoming Roadster as the ultimate tribute to human-driven cars before full autonomy becomes the norm. According to Moravy, it's not just a performance car—it's a symbolic goodbye to the visceral thrill of driving, soon to become a rare indulgence in a world run by AI and automation. A Spectacle on the Horizon: Late 2025 Launch Teased Tesla is promising a jaw-dropping live demonstration of the new Roadster by the end of 2025, calling it one of the most electrifying showcases in the company's history. This event is expected to underline how far the Roadster project has come, both technically and conceptually. Specs That Sound Unreal Tesla's targets for the Roadster border on science fiction: a 200 kWh battery pack, up to 1,000 kilometers of range, and a tri-motor all-wheel-drive setup delivering 800 to 1,000 horsepower and over 10,000 Nm of torque to the wheels. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (0–96 km/h) is projected at 1.9 seconds for the standard model, with the optional SpaceX package potentially dropping that to under a second. A quarter-mile sprint could be completed in just 8.8 seconds. The SpaceX Package: Real Tech, Surreal Claims CEO Elon Musk has confirmed that the advanced variant will include the SpaceX package—around 10 cold-gas thrusters that assist with acceleration, deceleration, and cornering. Musk even joked the car might 'hover' slightly, under a meter off the ground. While it sounds outlandish, Tesla insists this package is under serious development as part of an ambitious engineering roadmap. Design: Modern and Bold This Roadster isn't a revival of its first-gen namesake. Instead, it's a futuristic 2+2 coupe with a sleek profile, designed by Franz von Holzhausen. A removable glass roof and compact rear seating differentiate it from the earlier two-seater layout, blending performance with utility and a forward-looking design philosophy. Reality Check: Dream in Progress or Delayed Fantasy? Despite the hype, the Roadster has suffered multiple delays since its 2017 reveal. Tesla has pushed production timelines from 2020 to 2022 and now to 2025, with no production units or deliveries confirmed yet. For enthusiasts and critics alike, the question remains: is this a true revolution in the making, or just another ambitious promise? Competition Is Already Moving Even before hitting the market, the new Roadster is facing strong competition. Rivals like the Rimac Nevera and Lucid Air are already delivering high-performance EVs with impressive reliability and production consistency. While Tesla banks on groundbreaking innovation, buyers may lean toward proven alternatives that already deliver a balance of power, design, and dependability.

2008 Tesla Roadster For Sale With Just 1,821 Miles
There's a lot that can be said about Tesla as a company today, but the Tesla Roadster is largely an exception to those criticisms. Based on a Lotus Elise chassis, the automaker's first car was both sleek and impressive, and this 2008 example on Exotic Car Trader with 1,821 miles is a relatively rare sighting of a Tesla Roadster on the open market. The Roadster was an impressive machine when it was released, being the first highway-legal production car to use lithium-ion batteries, with a 53 kWh pack onboard. Charging time varies, but if one uses a 240 V charger on a 90 A circuit breaker, Tesla claimed a recharging rate of 56 miles added per hour. The electric motor produces 248 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque, which are sent to the rear wheels through a single-speed transmission. Tesla quoted a 0-60 mph time of around four seconds, which is nothing to scoff at, especially in 2008. Regenerative braking is present, of course, and the Roadster sports both front and rear independent suspension. The EPA gave it a 244-mile range, which isn't great by today's standards but was a good number back then. Uniquely, the body panels are all carbon fiber, keeping the weight down for both performance and range-related reasons. The NHTSA also granted the Roadster a waiver from the advantage two-stage airbag rule, allowing Tesla to use standard airbags instead. While that may seem unheard of in the modern world, similar waivers are given to small-volume automakers like Lotus, Ferrari, and Bugatti. The interior is a relatively sparse, but still attractive, and frankly, a massive step-up from modern Tesla interiors. The tan leather seats match the door panel inserts, while the center console houses a "gear" shifter, controls for the HVAC system, and two buttons for the seat heaters. Above that is a JVC head unit complete with built-in navigation. The cluster is relatively standard, other than the fact that it still has an RPM gauge that goes up to 13,000 RPM. I think more EVs should have rev counters, despite their comparatively useless nature. While modern Teslas are a common sight on today's roads, only 2,450 Roadsters were built in four years, making this one that much more desirable. Tesla sold Roadsters directly to customers online, in 13 showrooms, and over the phone in North America and Europe. Tesla Roadsters aren't a common sight on the road or the second-hand market, so if you've been looking for one, this one on Exotic Car Trader is a must-have. Of course, with such credentials and only 1,821 miles on the odometer, the $225,000 asking price of this one is to be expected. Not only will you be driving one of the first mainstream electric sports cars, but you'll be driving one built on the back of an Elise. Is that something you can really put a price on? Draft voter list prepared as per CPM's orders: Satheesan
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader V D Satheesan alleged that the draft voters' list for local body elections published by state election commission (SEC) was riddled with widespread irregularities. "The list has been prepared as per the directive of local CPM leaders to rig the ensuing elections," he alleged. "Many people who voted last time are missing from the list. Names of people who passed away three or four years ago are still included. Some voters' names have been moved from their actual wards to other places. Votes of family members residing in the same house have been registered in different wards," Satheesan said. "Some voters have been registered in three different wards. There are multiple votes under a single ID card number. Even after completing ward delimitation and publishing voters' list, the ward sketch hasn't been provided. Yet they are asking to add votes within 15 days, which is an unprecedented requirement. How can names be added to the voters' list without knowing the ward boundaries?" he asked. "According to Section 24 of Panchayati Raj Act, voters' list should not be revised between the last date for submitting nominations and election day. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like They Were So Beautiful Before; Now Look At Them; Number 10 Will Shock You Cash Roadster Undo This means there should be no hindrance in adding names to the voters' list until the last date for submitting election nominations. Then why is it restricted to 15 days?" he asked. "Transferring a vote from one place to another is also a complicated process. When a person's name is newly added to one place, the vote must be removed from the existing location. Both EROs at the two locations need to communicate on this and 15 days are insufficient for all these. Thus, the time to correct errors in the voter list should be extended to at least 30 days," said Satheesan. "How can a free and fair election be conducted using a voter list with such errors? Attempts are being made to prevent rectification of irregularities. SEC is acting according to CPM leadership's wishes," he alleged. "The number of polling booths has also been reduced. SEC is attempting to sabotage the election by ensuring that polling doesn't conclude even by 10pm. If SEC is not ready to reconsider, UDF will address it legally," said Satheesan. "Ward delimitation was conducted in violation of even the high court's directive, favouring CPM's convenience. SEC also supported all these and took decisions without even examining complaints," he alleged.

All of the aforementioned factors contribute to a more cruiser-like appearance. Staying true to its heritage, the motorcycle still incorporates a dual exhaust system. This will also be enhanced by the addition of new color choices. The current version of the Yezdi Roadster is equipped with a 334 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 29 hp and 29.4 Nm of maximum torque. This engine is coupled with a six-speed transmission. On the suspension front, it utilizes telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is managed by a disc with a floating caliper at both the front and rear, featuring a 320 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the back. With all the changes mentioned, it's possible that the motorcycle's pricing could be affected. Currently, the starting price of the Yezdi Roadster stands at Rs 2.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
