Create Account The beloved General Hospital star announced the diagnosis in a statement on Thursday. 'While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family,' his rep said in a statement to Soap Opera Digest . The message from the family asked 'for privacy and understanding' as they 'face both the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis.' The statement added that the family is 'deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love' from their loved ones. Rogers' announcement came the same day he made a surprise return to his role as Robert Scorpio in a General Hospital episode, Digest reported. The actor, whose latest stint on the hit soap opera ran from 2018-2024, was last seen leaving Port Charles with ex-wife Holly Sutton (played by Emma Samms) as they set out to find a way to pay off their debts in November 2024, according to the outlet. But on the July 17 episode, Scorpio opened the door to his new home, greeting his daughter Sasha (played by Sofia Mattsson), her newborn baby and Jason Morgan (played by Steve Burton). He appeared in a dozen episodes of "General Hospital: Night Shift," and his character's last appearance on "General Hospital" was Nov. 12 when Scorpio left town with his ex, Holly Sutton. "Robert has always had kind of a glib approach to everything; he's a bit of a smart-mouth," he told Soap Opera Digest in 2018. He also noted, "I'm working with a lot of different people … And I think the fans are going to like it." In addition to his role on "GH," Rogers also appeared in nearly 200 episodes of "The Young and the Restless." He earned a daytime Emmy in 2020 for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Digital Drama Series for his work on "Studio City." Rogers was then nominated the following year for "The Bay." With more than 50 credits to his name, Rogers dabbled in voice work and voiced the character of Jake in "The Rescuers Down Under."

On Thursday, the veteran actor's friend and publicist, Anthony Turk, announced the news in a press release, obtained by Soap Opera Digest. 'Beloved Emmy-winning actor Tristan Rogers, best known for his role as Robert Scorpio on the daytime drama, General Hospital, is sharing with fans that he has been diagnosed with cancer,' Turk began. He continued: 'While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family.' The star's rep kindly requested 'privacy and understanding' as Rogers and his family face 'the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis.' 'They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family. Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years,' Turk concluded. 'This support means more to him now than ever.' Rogers is best known to daytime audiences as international spy-turned-Port Charles D.A. Robert Scorpio on General Hospital. He has portrayed the character since 1980, and most recently, reprised his role on the series last year. In 2018, he raved about returning to his beloved role and playing Robert, who he described as always having 'kind of a glib approach to everything.' 'He's a bit of a smart-mouth,' Rogers told Soap Opera Digest, at the time, of his character. 'I'm working with a lot of different people … And I think the fans are going to like it.' Rogers has also appeared on Young and Restless as Colin Atkinson and as Hunter Jones on Bold and Beautiful.
