Kid Rock embraces American pride, breaks down why performing for veterans is 'most rewarding' work he's done
Kid Rock doesn't intentionally set out to make patriotic music, but that's what the iconic musician manifests when he puts pen to paper. During an interview with Fox News Digital at his "Rock N Rodeo" event in Texas on May 16, Kid Rock acknowledged that his music carries a strong message of American pride, which he's happy about, but it isn't necessarily his goal. "The message of patriotism in my music has just always been there, and I don't know if it's been on purpose. I guess it's not really something I think about. It's just what comes out when I'm writing. What I feel, what I see, what I experience. That's what comes out on a piece of paper and usually into a song," he said. Kid Rock said he gets more into the patriotic spirit around Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. "I guess that would mean I have to do a Christmas record, right? Yeah, Kid Rock. Jingle f---ing bells." WATCH: KID ROCK SAYS PATRIOTISM ISN'T HIS INTENT WHEN MAKING MUSIC, 'IT'S JUST WHAT COMES OUT' "The message of patriotism in my music has just always been there, and I don't know if it's been on purpose." Over his multi-decade music career, Kid Rock has performed shows for U.S. service members on active duty. He told Fox News Digital that he'd just sent a text to his "little brother," podcaster Theo Von, who is working with President Donald Trump to perform comedy routines for troops in Qatar, praising him for the work. I said, 'Yeah, to me, it was some of the most rewarding things I've ever done in my career.' "Unfortunately, those wars were so long. I went a lot of times along with people like Toby Keith – rest in peace, my old friend Toby – and so many other talented artists … that's the least we could do is give our time and talents to be over there entertaining these kids. And like I said, some of the most rewarding, hardest work I've ever done," he said. He added, "It's unfortunate these wars happened, but I feel blessed and so fortunate to have been able to go over there and bring some smiles to these kids' faces, most times halfway around the world in some godforsaken place." Kid Rock Toadies Up To Trump With Graphic, Violent Turn Of Phrase
Kid Rock used a disturbingly violent phrase in a rant about 'wokeness' to hail President Donald Trump during an interview on Fox News Digital. Trump had 'slit the throat of DEI and wokeness,' the pro-MAGA musician told Fox News Digital during his 'Rock N Rodeo' event at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday, while praising the Trump White House's ongoing attacks on diversity, equity and inclusion programs and measures. 'I think wokeness and DEI and cancel culture is starting to exit the building, and we can thank President Trump for leading that charge once again,' said Kid, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie. 'I call him the dragon slayer in that regard, because he just came and slit the throat of DEI and wokeness,' he added. "Dragon slayer!"@KidRock hails @realDonaldTrump as the 'DEI destroyer,' saying wokeness is finally exiting the building — Bud Light got its reckoning, cancel culture's fading, and merit is making a comeback. — Fox News (@FoxNews) May 19, 2025 The singer acknowledged 'there's always gonna be cancel culture at some level, somebody getting butt sore about this, wants to protest and not buy a product or whatever' but said that, 'personally, I'm not into seeing people lose their jobs over some corporate decision that was made.' There sometimes 'needs a little spanking,' though, he said, before talking about 2023 right-wing outrage over Bud Light's partnership with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney. 'But at the end of the day, we forgave them, said, 'It's all good. Let's get back on track,'' said Kid. Last week, Kid Rock told Fox News' Jesse Watters that the birth rate in the United States is low 'because who's going to sleep with these ugly-ass, broke, crazy, deranged, TDS ['Trump Derangement Syndrome'], liberal women?' 'I mean, you look at these rallies, it's like a bunch of women that no guy wants to sleep with, and a bunch of dudes that want to sleep with each other,' he added.
