Gladbach midfielder Neuhaus suspended from first team for 'unacceptable' video
Borussia Moenchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus has been fined and banished from the first team after being filmed while appearing to mock the Bundesliga club's sporting director. In a video posted on social media, Neuhaus could be seen talking to several people wearing Gladbach kits about sporting director Roland Virkus. The 28-year-old appeared to call Virkus "the worst manager in the world" and referenced the sporting director's role in deciding his salary of four million euros ($4.71 million) per year. Gladbach said they had imposed a "heavy" fine on Neuhaus and suspended him from training with the first team for four weeks, with German daily Bild reporting the fine was worth around 100,000 euros. "The behaviour and statements of Florian Neuhaus are damaging to the club and unacceptable," Gladbach's CEO Stefan Stegemann said in a statement on Thursday. "He has damaged the club with his words and deeply disappointed the people involved, which is not compatible with the values of the club." Neuhaus joined Gladbach in 2017 and has made over 200 appearances in all competitions for the club, but mainly featured as a substitute last season and played just 17 times in the league as they finished 10th. Bundesliga star banned and fined for mocking his own club's sporting director after being given 'millions' in huge new contract - as 'drunk' star appeared to brand his boss 'the worst manager in the world' in viral video
A Bundesliga star has landed himself in boiling water after he appeared to mock his club's managing director for sport. Florian Neuhaus, who plays for Borussia Monchengladbach and formerly the German national team, has been fined a reported £87,000 and exiled to the under-23s for four weeks. A video spilled across social media showing Neuhaus seemingly mocking a senior official and boasting about his salary while drunk on holiday in Mallorca. In the footage, he counts on his fingers and says 'Don Rollo gives Florian Neuhaus one, two, three, four million' while also saying 'he is the worst manager in the world,' via BILD. Rollo is a nickname for managing director for sport Roland Virkus, though it is unclear who he is referring to when he mentions the 'worst manager in the world'. 'Florian Neuhaus' behavior and statements are damaging to the club and unacceptable,' said managing director Stefan Stegemann as the club announced their penalties against Neuhaus. roland virkus: verkauft keine spieler, verlängert verträge viel zu teuer, lässt sich von einem schweizer trickbetrüger verarschen, führt den verein zu grunde florian neuhaus: — Yannick | SEOANE OUT (@Ginniesta1874) June 29, 2025 He appeared to mock managing director for sport Roland Virkus (right) on holiday in Mallorca Neuhaus has been sent to the under-23s and fined a reported £87,000 by the German club In the clip, Neuhaus (left) mentions Virkus before referring to the 'worst manager in the world' 'He has harmed the club with his words and deeply disappointed those involved. Neuhaus, 28, joined the German powerhouses in 2017 and has generally been a mainstay in the team, though he played a reduced role last season. He was an important part of their fourth-placed finish in the 2019-20 season and their subsequent run to the Champions League last 16, where they lost to Manchester City. The midfielder has previously been linked with City and Liverpool but a move has not transpired and he renewed his contract in 2023. That deal runs until 2027 but it is unclear if he will play for the club again after this controversy. Neuhaus is yet to comment on the incident.

Florian Neuhaus fined, demoted to Gladbach under-23s after ‘unacceptable' video
Borussia Monchengladbach have fined Florian Neuhaus and demoted the midfielder to their under-23 team for four weeks following an 'unacceptable' video. Neuhaus, 28, was in a video wearing a hat and sunglasses, appearing to show him talking to several men wearing Gladbach kits about the club's sporting director Roland Virkus — nicknamed Don Rollo — who has worked at the club for over three decades. Advertisement The video, which was subsequently removed from social media, appeared to show Neuhaus saying Virkus is the 'worst manager in the world' with the player appearing to reference how Virkus had sanctioned his €4million (£3.4m, $4.7m) annual salary with the club. Gladbach said on Wednesday a substantial fine has been issued to Neuhaus and he 'will not train with the Bundesliga team for the next four weeks, but with Borussia's under-23 team'. The club's CEO Stefan Stegemann said: 'Florian Neuhaus' behavior and statements are damaging to the club and unacceptable. 'He has harmed the club with his words and deeply disappointed those involved. This is incompatible with the club's values.' Neuhaus has made 220 appearances for Gladbach since joining from 1860 Munich in 2017. He played a reduced role in 2024-25, however, with 19 appearances, just three of which were starts. The midfielder played a key role in his side's fourth-place Bundesliga finish in 2019-20 and their run to the Champions League last-16 stage in the subsequent season. Neuhaus made 10 appearances for Germany's national team between 2020 and 2022, before signing a new contract with Gladbach in 2023 through to 2027.
