This Rolls-Royce Model is Attracting Way Younger Buyers

The average Rolls-Royce customer is probably younger than you expected Back in 2010, the average age of a Rolls-Royce customer was 56. A decade and a half later, that number has dropped significantly. Your first instinct might be to lay blame at the feet of a still-exploding tech field, but you'd only be half right. In fact, the reason Rolls-Royce customers are starting to skew younger may be because the brand made the controversial jump to electrification. That's right — the all-electric Rolls-Royce Spectre is leading the charge and dropping the average age of Rolls-Royce customers like a stone. Rolls-Royce's President says its first EV is growing the brand in all kinds of ways According to an interview with The Drive, the Rolls-Royce Spectre is attracting a new kind of buyer. President of Rolls-Royce North America, Jon Colbeth, claims that the average age of someone buying a Spectre as their introduction to the brand is just 35 years old. It's part of the reason that the current average age of a Rolls-Royce customer hovers around 42 years old — nearly 15 years younger than it was well, fifteen years earlier. 'Tech is important to youthful clients,' Colbeth told The Drive. 'That's why the Spectre has resonated with those looking to buy their first Rolls-Royce.' The new technology, materials, and design are central to the age changeup, Colbeth continues, but the Spectre's success story extends further than just attracting younger buyers. It's also finding a lot of new buyers, which is arguably a more important figure to look at. Rolls-Royce's President says that 40 percent of people purchasing a Spectre are completely new to the brand. As a reminder, the Spectre Black Badge — not something Rolls originally had in mind for the EV — is the most powerful Rolls-Royce model ever. It launched earlier this year, bringing an incredible 659 horsepower and 792 pound-feet of torque, new 23-inch wheels, new options, and new paint finishes to what was already an attractively styled and super exclusive luxury coupe. Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge Is the falling age of Rolls-Royce customers a foreshadowing for other engine-centric brands? One takeaway from the Spectre's impact on Rolls-Royce is that hope may not be lost for brands that have largely built their reputations around the combustion engine. Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, and others find their identity inextricably tied to their combustion engines. That's a party Rolls-Royce and its iconic V12 engines would definitely have been invited to, if not hosting. The brand's success with the Spectre clearly illustrates that electrification is a valid path forward for almost any brand. While old buyers may leave, new buyers are seemingly excited and ready to join the queue. Final thoughts Rolls-Royce claims that the Spectre was 'the most requested Rolls-Royce model in Europe last year and the second most demanded globally' in 2024. Incredibly, it also notes that the model boasted the 'second-highest level of Bespoke content per motor car' in the brand's portfolio. Electrification is unfolding for Rolls-Royce at an explosive level that no one really saw coming. Driving the average customer age down tells volumes about the brand's staying power, too. Small design tweaks that have kept the brand instantly recognizable, combined with excellent powertrains and continued excellence in materials and presentation, have ensured the Goodwood automaker is here to stay before and after electrification. Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge: Check 5 highlights of the luxury electric coupe

The Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge gets dark chrome-themed elements all around. Rolls-Royce has unveiled the Spectre Black Badge in India, priced from ₹ 9.50 crore (ex-showroom), making it one of the most expensive electric vehicles currently available in the country. This limited-run model builds on the all-electric Spectre and brings a sharper, darker, and more powerful identity to the British marque's EV journey. Here are the five key highlights that set this electric grand tourer apart: 1 Powertrain and performance The Spectre Black Badge holds the distinction of being the most powerful production Rolls-Royce to date. It houses two electric motors, one on each axle, producing a total of 650 bhp and a staggering 1,075 Nm of peak torque. This is a substantial jump from the 585 bhp and 900 Nm available on the standard Spectre. This surge in performance allows the coupe to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.1 seconds, remarkable considering the car's size, luxury equipment, and sheer curb weight. Performance can be further sharpened by engaging the 'Infinity mode', which unlocks the full potential of the powertrain, while the 'Spirited Mode' (Rolls-Royce's version of launch control) adds a more engaging dynamic for spirited driving. 4 Exterior True to its name, the Spectre Black Badge brings a visually darker, more sinister aesthetic to Rolls-Royce's electric coupe. It features a black chrome finish on prominent elements including the Pantheon grille, Spirit of Ecstasy, door handles, window surrounds, and bumpers. The car also gets exclusive 23-inch five-spoke forged aluminium wheels and debuts a bold new Vapour Violet paint finish. Buyers are not limited to a specific look, Rolls-Royce offers an extraordinary palette of 44,000 exterior colours to choose from. Furthermore, the grille backplate itself can be custom-coloured, allowing owners to craft a truly one-of-a-kind machine that reflects their personality. 5 Interior Inside, the cabin remains faithful to Rolls-Royce's signature opulence but adds exclusive Black Badge-specific flourishes. The passenger-side dashboard features a new Infinity symbol, signifying the Black Badge lineage, and is paired with an 'Illuminated Fascia' consisting of 5,500 fibre-optic stars arranged against a Piano Black background to simulate a starry night. The digital instrument console offers five distinctive colour themes, Vivid Grellow, Neon Nights, Cyan Fire, Ultraviolet, and Synth Wave, allowing owners to set the tone for their drive. The car also runs on the brand's advanced 'Spirit' operating system for seamless control over all infotainment and connectivity functions. The rear cabin remains a sanctuary, with individual seats separated by a waterfall-style central console finished with the Black Badge insignia, blending function with impeccable design. Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge Launched In India At Rs 9.5 Crore

The Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge has been launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 9.5 crore. Consumers who wish to purchase an ultra-luxurious vehicle can book at the brand's showrooms in Chennai and New Delhi. This occasion signifies an important milestone for both the Indian market and the brand, as the Spectre is the first electric vehicle to carry the RR badge. Furthermore, the modifications associated with the Black Badge enhance it to be the most powerful vehicle from the manufacturer. In terms of specifications, the Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge features the same 102 kWh battery pack found in the standard model. However, in this special variant, the power has been increased to 659 hp and 1075 Nm, which is distributed to all four wheels. This represents an additional 82 hp and 175 Nm gained through a new Infinity Mode. With this energy, the vehicle can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Despite this impressive performance, the range is maintained between 493 to 530 km on a single charge. To enhance the performance, the manufacturer has updated the chassis, increased the steering weight, and implemented a roll stabilization system for improved handling, all while preserving the ride comfort that is characteristic of Rolls-Royce. The dampers have also been modified to minimize squatting during hard acceleration. These settings can be altered in different driving modes to optimize the vehicle's handling and performance. As with other Rolls-Royce models, it features the Spirit of Ecstasy and is adorned with the Pantheon grille encircled by a Polished Black finish. This same mirror-polished black treatment extends to the side window surrounds and door handles. Upon its launch, the Spectre Black Badge was showcased in a new Vapour Violet hue, but customers will have the choice of 44,000 color options. It comes fitted with 23-inch five-spoke forged wheels. Inside, the Spectre Black Badge boasts a 'starlit' cabin that features 5,500 stars creating what the manufacturer refers to as an illuminated fascia. This is accompanied by five distinct themes for the instrument cluster, including Vivid Grellow, Neon Nights, Cyan Fire, Ultraviolet, and Synth Wave. Additionally, other elements of the interior can be tailored to suit the preferences of the driver.
