Romeo Force of Indian Army organises Cricket Premier League in J-K's Poonch
Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 13 (ANI): NY 49 RR of Romeo Force of the Indian Army organised the Cricket Premier League (CPL) in Keri Kangra LOC Hilly Tarian in Poonch District to absorb the energy of local youths in sports activities on Sunday. The locals and Youths of the area appreciated the 49 RR of Romeo Force of the Indian Army for organising CPL, in the hilly Tarian ground to involve youth in sports. While speaking to ANI, Manavar Hussain Khan, BJP Mandal President, Balakot, said, 'A tournament was sponsored by the Indian Army 49 RR. This tournament was organised in collaboration with the civil society. On behalf of 49 RR, I would like to thank the CO and especially Major Utsav Kumar.' 'I hope that the way CO is standing shoulder to shoulder with us, we are also standing with them. For the youth, our message is to stay away from drugs. And the aim of our army is also the same, and everyone should stand with their country. Indian Army is such an army, whether it is fighting a war on the border or sponsoring such a big tournament here in the village is a very big thing,' he added. A Local from Poonch Khalid Mehmood Khan hailed Utsav Kumar for organising the tounament, 'We thank him [Utsav Kumar] from the bottom of our hearts. He organised a very good and heart-warming tournament here.' A local from Poonch, Taufiq Khan, said, '16 teams came here for this tournament. If there is a war atmosphere or if there is a local problem, we live on the LOC. The Indian Army has always been with us.' Earlier, A consignment of explosives, arms and ammunition was detected during the joint search operation launched by the Romeo Force of the Indian Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Poonch district. According to officials, the explosives, arms and ammunition were dropped in the Khanater region by drone. The consignment includes six Chinese grenades, two Pakistan-made pistols, three magazines, one under-barrel grenade launcher, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and a remote control. Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 10 (ANI): A consignment of explosives, arms and ammunition was detected during the joint search operation launched by the Romeo Force of the Indian Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Poonch district. According to officials, the explosives, arms and ammunition were dropped in the Khanater region by drone. The consignment includes six Chinese grenades, two Pakistan-made pistols, three magazines, one under-barrel grenade launcher, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and a remote control. This comes after a joint search operation was carried out by the Romeo Force of the Indian Army and the Poonch SOG in the dense forests of Khanater Top. The search operation was initiated despite challenging weather conditions, including heavy rainfall. According to sources, a significant quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the area during the operation. The search was launched in the thickly forested region amid cloudy and rainy weather. In another incident, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Sogam, Kupwara, seized properties belonging to a Pakistan-based Kashmiri militant handler and top commander of proscribed terror outfits Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JUM) on Wednesday. According to a release, the action was taken against accused Ghulam Rasool Shah alias Rafia Rasool Shah, son of Abdul Jabbar Shah, originally a resident of Peer Mohalla, Chandigam, Lolab. Shah, who is presently operating from across the border, has been actively involved in orchestrating and facilitating militant activities in the region for several years. As part of the legal action, five kanals and three marlas of land belonging to the accused at Peer Mohalla Chandigam were attached under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UAPA]. The property attachment is linked to FIR No. 276/2022, registered at Police Station Kupwara, which includes charges under sections 120B, 121A, 122, and 123 of IPC and sections 17, 18, 18A, 18B, 20, 38, 39, and 40 of UAPA. This decisive move is part of the broader strategy to dismantle the logistical, financial and operational networks of terror outfits and their cross-border handlers. The attachment of property is a strong message to those who continue to engage in or support anti-national activities, both within and outside the country. Additionally, on July 6, security forces busted a terrorist hideout during a joint anti-terror operation conducted by the Poonch Police Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Indian Army's Romeo Force in the Marha area near Behram Gala. Acting on intelligence inputs regarding suspicious movement, the joint team launched an operation in the region on Saturday. During the search, security personnel recovered three hand grenades, live ammunition, wire cutters, batteries, power cables, a knife, and other incriminating material from the hideout. (ANI)

JK: Army goes door-to-door in Poonch, provides locals with aid amid damages due to shelling
Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 15 (ANI): The Indian Army's Romeo Force, is visiting door-to-door in areas of Poonch district near the Line of Control (LoC), which were heavily impacted due to shelling by Pakistani to provide locals with medicines and ration. The personnel in the force also interacted with the locals during their visit, who said that their houses were damaged in the shelling on May 9. Mohammad Asif, a local whose house remains in dilapidated condition, said that he has been living with his neighbour since there was no scope for him to live in his own house, given the damage due to intense shelling by Pakistan. 'Heavy shelling had taken place here, which caused heavy damage to our house. There is no scope for us to live here. So, we live in the house of our neighbour. The Indian Army has come here. They helped us a lot, provided us with medicines. They told us to tell them if we were facing any problems. We are thankful to them for coming to check on damage (to the house) occurred on May Army is fighting at the border and helping us. We are thankful to them,' Asif told ANI. Earlier, the Indian Army took a humanitarian initiative by organising a free medical camp in Narayana village of the Akhnoor sector, located near the border. The camp's objective was to provide quality healthcare services to the residents of border areas. Many locals, including children, women, and elderly citizens, came to the camp. The Army's medical team conducted health check-ups and distributed free medicines to needy people. Border camps were also set up to provide food and education for villagers. The locals expressed their opinions on the facilities being provided. (ANI)
