Inquiry into road incident before man's death in Ross-on-Wye

Mott The Hoople festival announced for Ross-on-Wye
A festival dedicated to Mott The Hoople is to take place in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, later this year, the town council has said. The announcement of Mottfest comes after one of the band's founding members Mick Ralphs died on 23 June aged band's two other founding members, Dale "Buffin" Griffin and Pete Overend Watts both grew up in Ross-on-Wye. Mottfest organiser Simon Rowberry said the festival would help "flag up" how important Herefordshire had been to the music industry. He said: "That whole part of the country has been underrepresented in terms of its musical legacy."The band, formed in 1969, is most closely associated with the 1972 hit single All The Young Dudes, written by David Rowberry also launched a fundraising campaign for a memorial bench at Rope Walk for Griffin and Watts. The project raised £1,864 in total, with the bench to be revealed at Mottfest, which kicks off on Friday 3 October. Mr Rowberry described the response to the fundraiser as "incredible". Police patrols ramped up as children caught with alcohol in town centre
CHILDREN have been caught with alcohol in a Herefordshire town, with police on the case. PC Daryl Kift said police have received reports of underage drinking in Ross-on-Wye town centre, mainly during weekends and in the Rope Walk area, which is also a non-drinking zone. "This is concerning, not only in regard to their age," said PC Kift, also citing the health risks and antisocial behaviour it brings. PC Kift said any children found with alcohol will be taken home by officers, as will any child found behaving in an antisocial manner. He warned parents to ensure they know where their children are during the weekend, whether they have access to alcohol, and whether they have money to purchase alcohol.

Ross-on-Wye enterprise park work to start after 20-year delay

New 'Indian fusion' restaurant set to open its doors
A NEW Indian fusion restaurant is set to open in a Herefordshire town centre. A restaurant called Mama Spice is set to open in Ross-on-Wye. this month, with the owners promising to bring food such as chicken tikka kebabs to the town. The restaurant will be taking the place of the former Cheeky Tito's peri peri chicken takeaway, which used to be home to ice cream parlour Gelatis. Apparently, they'll be opening next week. "The new name will be Mama Spice and they'll be offering Indian fusion food. The example they used was chicken tikka kebabs. "Wishing them loads of luck in their new venture!" Coun O'Driscoll had previously shared the news that the Cheeky Tito's premises had been sold, telling the Hereford Times: "Like everyone else I'll be interested to see what type of new restaurant opens but I'm always pleased to see new investment in our town and am pleased businesses see opportunities in Ross."
