Roy Keane meets Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba at Inter Miami training ground
Roy Keane isn't the biggest fan of posing for pictures but on the rare occasion, he is willing to make an exception. The Corkman is making the most of his break away from the Sky Sports and Stick to Football studios as he is currently on holiday in the United States of America. But the former Manchester United and Republic of Ireland hasn't taken a break away from the sport as he seems to be taking in some of the ongoing Club World Cup, which is approaching the last-16 stage. Imagine a midfield pairing of Sergio Busquests and Roy Keane🤌🏼 Moments like these go to show highly Keane is thought of in the footballing world. Busquests, Luis Suarez and Jori Alba weren't half bad in their prime. Class appreciates class. Legends of the game! — Rep of Ireland Player Tracker (@reptracker) June 27, 2025 Keane recently got the opportunity to visit the training base of Inter Miami, who are owned by his former United teammate David Beckham, and while he was there he posed for pictures with none other than Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. Who asked who for the pictures remains unknown, as does the whereabouts of Lionel Messi, who must have been busy preparing to the MLS side's last-16 tie against Champions League winners PSG on Sunday. An attitude Roy would appreciate, at least. Keane won't be stateside with his friends from Rockmount AFC for long as he will be returning home in the near future ahead of his three live shows with Roddy Doyle at the Marquee on July 7,8, and 9. Roy Keane meets Inter Miami superstars like Luis Suarez but fans reckon he ‘must be disappointed'
ROY Keane got to meet Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi not Lionel Messi while visiting Inter Miami's facility. The Corkman has jetted stateside to take in the knockout stages of the inaugural - and controversial - Club World Cup. 4 4 4 The MLS outfit have a daunting last-16 match-up ahead of them against Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday. But at least Keane got to meet some of their most recognisable squad members while they're still in the competition and still in chipper form. Aside from a few followers noting he's bearing quite a resemblance to Mel Gibson these days thanks to his white beard, most of the comments connected to the Instagram post centred on one man who wasn't featured. Shane reckoned: "Must be disappointed to not meet Messi." While Curtis suggested: "Could use him against PSG keep them straight." Sean hailed: "The best Irish player of all time." And finally, someone else surmised en Espanol: "Roy livin la vida buena." Messi is set to face his former club in the knockout stages of the Club World Cup - and, like many reunions with old colleagues, it may not end well. Inter Miami - sixth in the MLS Eastern Conference - face a formidable challenge against the Ligue 1 giants. Luis Enrique's PSG began their campaign in style with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid. David Beckham in hospital as Victoria shares picture of star with arm in sling & sweet 'get well soon daddy' message However, they appeared to lose momentum in a surprise defeat to Brazilian side Botafogo, and looked far from their fluent best in a 2-0 win over the Seattle Sounders at Lumen Field. Now into the knockout rounds, PSG are expected to find another gear, with a potential quarter-final clash against either Flamengo or Bayern Munich looming. The bookmakers clearly agree, pricing the Parisian giants at 1/6 to win in 90 minutes, while Jordi Alba described PSG as 'the best team in the world right now'. As for Inter Miami, they came close to topping Group A but conceded two late goals against Palmeiras, setting up this tough tie. It would have been Botafogo otherwise. ABOUT TO GET MESSI? Still, they have shown they can compete at this level - sandwiching a win over Porto between draws against Palmeiras and Al Ahly. The Florida-based side are unbeaten in six matches across all competitions, scoring 16 goals in that stretch - a solid run of form but unlikely to trouble their imperious opponents. Sorry if it sounds disparaging to all those Inter Miami supporters out there - but this could easily be a cricket score providing PSG can snap out of their two-game malaise. And they should be able to. The European champions looked a completely different class during their Champions League success, and their 5-0 final win over Inter Milan only highlights their ability to humble even the best. Suarez and Messi, both aged 38, should have their work cut out against such a young, quick, powerful and dynamic PSG side. Inter Miami have also shipped a colossal 29 goals in their last 13 games in all competitions. PSG, meanwhile, have scored 3+ goals in five of their last seven games.

Martin O'Neill led chorus of doubters ahead of Brentford's surprise appointment of Keith Andrews
Keith Andrews is no stranger to criticism . Roy Keane, for example, is no fan of the Dubliner . 'I've heard a lot of bullshitters over the last 10 years and Keith Andrews is up there with the best of them,' as he put it a few years back. His appointment as manager of Brentford in the Premier League has put Andrews in the glare of a spotlight he's never experienced before. On Monday, former Ireland manager Martin O'Neill offered a cold critique of Andrews. Speaking on Talksport, O'Neill said: 'Good luck to him. I hope he does get the job because he'll then realise what management is all about. It's not as easy to be just sitting in a pundit's chair and just criticising someone who, in all honesty, had a much better career than he had. He was dealing with the bottom end of it when I was winning the European Cup.' Never change, Martin. READ MORE As Simon Jordan, the former Crystal Palace owner, pointed out on the same station, O'Neill, like Keane, has an axe to grind with Andrews. He was critical of both men during their time in charge of the Republic of Ireland . Neither man, as we know, is one for letting bygones be bygones. There is also the matter of Andrews not being born when O'Neill won the European Cup, so he wasn't dealing with the bottom end of anything at the time. No matter. But, yes, welcome to the big time, Keith Andrews. For a Premier League club to appoint someone who has never managed before is some measure of the impression the 44-year-old has made since joining Brentford as their set-piece coach last year. By all accounts, he also impressed the club's powers-that-be during his interview for a job Ange Postecoglou and Kieran McKenna were linked to. Former Brentford manager Thomas Frank, who took over at Tottenham recently. Photograph: Rhianna Chadwick/PA Wire He has big shoes to fill. Andrews succeeds Thomas Frank, who was appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager earlier this month. The Dane spent seven years in charge at the club, winning promotion from the Championship in 2021 and guiding the side to a 10th-place finish last season. He's brought three of his Brentford backroom team with him to Spurs, so Andrews will have to start assembling his own on day one. Damien Duff, though, has dismissed speculation linking him to a role. Andrews inherits a squad that includes Ireland internationals Nathan Collins and Caoimhín Kelleher, the latter a recent signing from Liverpool . He is, though, likely to lose last season's top scorer Bryan Mbeumo. Manchester United are expected to up their €70 million bid for the Cameroon international, with Spurs also said to be hovering. Andrews, who won 35 caps for the Republic of Ireland , had a 15-year playing career in England, making over 400 appearances in all competitions. He started out with Wolves, who he joined from his schoolboy side Stella Maris, and finished up at MK Dons. Upon retiring from playing in 2015, he had a spell as MK Dons assistant manager. He went on to work as assistant to Stephen Kenny for both the under-21 and senior Republic of Ireland teams , joining Sheffield United's coaching staff in December 2023 before heading for Brentford. It's a daunting challenge for Andrews. There'll been no end of sceptics, not least among the club's supporters who might have expected a 'bigger' name to succeed Frank. 'You look at the fella's resume and there's nothing in it,' said Jordan, who never passed a microphone without speaking into it. 'This is heavily risky, it seems like a really big punt.' That, inevitably, will be the narrative around his appointment, but it's a thrilling opportunity for the Irishman. 'I'm just obsessed with football. I never switch off for a second – even when I'm watching a game at home on the sofa, I'm analysing it,' he said when he started his coaching career with MK Dons. 'I'm just looking to evolve as I go along and it certainly won't be through a lack of effort if I don't get to where I want to go to.' He's come a long way since then and now has 'Premier League manager' on his CV.

Andrews becomes seventh Irish Premier League boss
Keith Andrews will become the first permanent Premier League manager from the Republic of Ireland since Chris Hughton left Brighton in 2019, and only the seventh in the competition's Mick McCarthy, Owen Coyle and David O'Leary, who were all born in the UK, are classified by Opta as being from the Republic of Ireland since they won caps for the country as caretakers, and managers from Northern Ireland, Andrews will be just the third Irish-born boss to lead a Premier League club, alongside Joe Kinnear and Roy and Keane have a bit of history, with the Manchester United legend making a disparaging remark about the Dubliner when he was named the Republic's assistant manager in spent a year and a half as a Premier League manager, winning 15 of 53 games with Sunderland, so Andrews could prove a bit of a point if he lasts longer with the Bees.
