Roya Media Group sounds alarm as its Gaza journalists face starvation under siege
Roya Media Group expresses its deep concern over the catastrophic and unparalleled humanitarian conditions facing its journalistic team in the Gaza Strip. These conditions are the result of the ongoing brutal assault by the Israeli Occupation forces, with direct support from the United States, and a suffocating siege that has led to widespread famine, the depletion of basic food supplies, and severe malnutrition among team members. Roya's correspondent in Gaza, Ghazi Al-Aloul, said that the entire team is suffering from the direct effects of famine. He reported: "Famine has spread across the entire Strip and reached us after our supplies of flour, canned goods, and vegetables ran out. Since the war resumed, we haven't had access to meat or poultry. Our daily meal, if available, now consists of lentils only, and sometimes nothing for days." "To prevent intestinal decay, we have resorted to drinking only saltwater," he added. Aloul continued: "Over the past month, I've lost 20 kilograms, and my colleague, cameraman Mohammed Daher, has lost a similar amount. We are forced to walk more than 12 kilometers each day to and from our workplace, with no transportation available. This has accelerated the deterioration of our physical and mental health." Roya's team continues to work in areas classified as 'red zones' on evacuation maps, having been forcibly displaced more than 16 times since the start of the war. They now have no safe shelter or option to relocate. The team faces daily threats amidst disturbing international silence and the clear complicity of parties supporting the ongoing assault. Roya Media Group holds the Israeli Occupation authorities and their primary supporter, the United States of America, fully and directly responsible for any harm to its staff, whether through targeting, starvation, or obstruction of their professional and humanitarian duties. The ongoing acts of collective starvation, forced displacement, and systematic targeting of civilians - including journalists - in Gaza constitute an act of genocide, carried out by the Israeli Occupation with explicit US backing, in grave violation of international humanitarian law and all human rights conventions. We call on the United Nations, global journalism organizations, and human rights and humanitarian institutions to urgently intervene to protect journalists and ensure the immediate entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza; including food, medicine, and basic life necessities. Starving journalists and forcing them to work under inhumane conditions is a dual violation of human rights and press freedom, and must not be met with silence or indifference from the international community. Despite immense risks and daily suffering, Roya's team continues to fulfill its humanitarian and professional duty to report the truth from the heart of the catastrophe. We salute their courage and sacrifices and emphasize that the world's silence is not neutrality, it is complicity in an ongoing crime that must not be ignored.

'Israel' launches 'separation plan' to split, isolate Gaza
Roya's correspondent in the occupied Palestinian territories reported that the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) launched a new offensive south of Deir al-Balah on Monday. Analysts view this move as the beginning of an alternative military plan aimed at achieving complete geographic separation between the central and southern parts of the Gaza Strip, using starvation and dehydration as key tools in this new phase of the genocide campaign. The correspondent added that operational maps published by the occupation army's spokesperson show that the immediate goal of the advancing forces is to reach and cut off Al-Rashid coastal road, which has not yet been achieved. - Siege and starvation - According to military analysts, what is happening now is the activation of a pre-prepared 'Plan B,' designed to be implemented if negotiations fail. This plan aligns with the IOF's establishment's vision and is based on the following principles: Isolation and siege: Besieging the three largest remaining population centers in the Strip (west of Gaza City, the central camps, and the Al-Mawasi area) and completely isolating them from one another. Confining the displaced: This separation will effectively trap hundreds of thousands of displaced people from Khan Younis and Rafah in the narrow coastal strip, while the central governorate will be surrounded between this new separation line and the Netzarim corridor to the north. Starvation as a weapon: The most alarming aspect of this plan is the imposition of a suffocating blockade on the areas where civilians are trapped, using starvation and dehydration as systematic and widespread weapons, worsening an already catastrophic situation. Limited operations: The siege will be accompanied by limited incursions inside these besieged areas, with the aim of 'raising the cost to the maximum for every day without an agreement,' alongside plans to expand control to cover 90 percent of the Strip's territory. - Pressure on negotiations - Observers believe that, while this military escalation represents a real plan prepared for implementation, it also serves as an attempt to exert maximum pressure at the negotiating table. Nevertheless, most key actors do not appear to favor such a catastrophic scenario, except for far-right ministers in the 'Israeli' government, such as Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir, who are pushing for such plans aimed at making life in Gaza impossible.

Rain revives fish farming in irrigation tank near Tiruvannamalai
Fish farming in an irrigation tank, which is maintained by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), at Melathikkan village near Tiruvannamalai town has been revived for the season due to rain in recent weeks, resulting in steady rise of waterflow to the tank. Accompanied by Collector K. Tharpagaraj, Minister for Public Works and Highways E.V. Velu released young fish in the tank on Wednesday as part of fish cultivation by farmers in the region. Officials of the Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation (TNFDC), which maintains fish farms in the district, said that fish cultivation, including harvesting, is done during May to August due to the steady reduction of hot weather and gradual rise in water level due to south-west monsoon. These months also help to retain adequate oxygen in the farming area of the tank due to slow evaporation. Also, as the water level is almost steady, fishing in the waters in the tank remains safe for fishermen. 'Local fishermen from the neighbouring Edapalayam village have been doing the job for many years. Such roping of local skilled workers helps to prevent poaching and also provides jobs for them,' S. Velan, Assistant Director (AD), Department of Fisheries (Tiruvannamalai), told The Hindu. At Melathikkan tank, Catla, Roya and Mithila are the preferred freshwater fish varieties that are cultivated with acumen, involving local fishermen and officials of the fisheries department. These fish varieties were chosen at least for two reasons - speedy growth and good taste, especially for spicy fish curries. They weighed over one kg in three months after they were left in the tank. As per norms, each hectare of tank area, on average, should release around 2,000 fish should be released to maintain the fish growth in the tank. In other words, 60% of the total area of the tank should be the total number of fish released. Divided into forenoon and afternoon, fishing in the tank will be done by 18 units of local fishermen, closely monitored by the officials. Each unit has at least two fishermen in a coracle with a target of 20kg per team everyday. In other words, fishing in the tank should yield at least 0.5 tonnes (500 kgs) daily especially during the peak month of August. These fishermen are paid on a daily basis. Of the total catch, one-third goes for local consumption with the rest goes to the government-run stalls and buyers in the State.
