RGO's music band dazzles at the Basel Tattoo Festival
BASEL: The Royal Guard of Oman's (RGO) music band on Saturday conducted a concert at the 2025 Basel Tattoo festival held in Basel, Switzerland, as part of the international festival, which continues until July 21. The participation came as a response to an official invitation from the Swiss Ministry of Defence reflecting the deep historical relations and cultural cooperation between the two friendly countries. Brigadier General Ramis bin Jumaan al Awairah Brigadier General Ramis bin Jumaan al Awairah, Director-General of Music at the RGO, said: 'The participation aimed to highlight the civilised and cultural image of the Sultanate of Oman. The Sultanate of Oman sees culture and arts as a means of spreading messages of peace and cultural communication'. The concert received a standing ovation from attendees and organisers who applauded the mesmerising performance of the RGO's music band, which reflected the advanced and professional level of military music in the Sultanate of Oman. — ONA

RGO takes part in Basel Tattoo 2025 music concert
Basel: The Royal Guard of Oman (RGO) Music Wing particpated in Basel Tattoo 2025 concert for military music in Swiss Confederation. The concert has been organised within the activities of the international festival which lasts till 21 July. The participation of the RGO Music came at an official invitation from the Swiss Ministry of Defence. The RGO participation depicts the deep-rooted relations and cultural cooperation between the two countries. Brigadier Ramis bin Jamaan al Awairah, Director General of Music at the Royal Guard of Oman said that the participation aimed to shed light on the cultural aspects of the Sultanate of Oman. He pointed out that the Sultanate of Oman views culture and art as a way of dissemination of messages of peace and communication. He said that the performance of the concert has displayed the advance level of the players of musical instruments. The concert of the RGO Music was warmly welcomed by the attendees and the organisers of the event who described it as reflecting the concern and attention accorded to military music.

Oman participates in Basel music show
BASEL: The Sultanate of Oman is participating in the Basel Tattoo Military Music Show 2025, held in Basel, Switzerland, from July 7-21, 2025. The event features musical bands from various countries around the world. The Royal Guard of Oman's band will perform a variety of musical formations and displays at the festival, showcasing the diversity and richness of Oman's military music traditions. Notably, the Basel Tattoo is an annual military festival established in 2006 and organised by the Swiss Ministry of Defence. It brings together international musical bands, performance teams and musicians. As the second-largest military music festival in the world after the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the Basel Tattoo attracts approximately 130,000 visitors annually, making it one of the grandest military music spectacles globally. - ONA

Oman U-23 to take part at International friendly in Bishkek
MUSCAT: Oman U-23 football team will take part in an international tournament which will be hosted in Kyrgyzstan during July 17 to 23 in Bishkek city. The football preparatory event will feature participation of four teams including: Syria, Bahrain, the hosts Kyrgyzstan and the Sultanate of Oman team. Oman team, coached by Badar al Maimani, will aim to utilise this participation with maximum technical output as they are gearing up for the main assignment which is taking part at the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers in coming September. The Olympic team will begin their friendly campaign in Bishkek with a match against Bahrain team in the opener on July 17 while they will take on Kyrgyzstan on July 20 in the following match. They will conclude their matches with a clash against Syria team on July 23. All the matches will be held in two venues including: Alga Bishkek Stadium and Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek city. At the Asian qualifiers in coming September, the national Olympic team will compete in Group F alongside Iraq, Pakistan and hosts Cambodia at the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers. The qualification matches will run from September 1 to 9, with Oman opening their campaign against Cambodia on September 3, facing Iraq on September 6 and concluding against Pakistan on September 9. The group winners and the best four runners-up across all groups will qualify for the finals, joining the host nation Saudi Arabia. The warm up gatherings focused on tactical drills, fitness sessions and team-building activities The team began on Sunday a short domestic camp in Muscat and it will run until Wednesday including 24 players called by coach, Badar al Maimani. This gathering will be followed by another camp until the travel day to Bishkek and both camps will act as part of the team's preparations for the upcoming AFC U-23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers. The warm up gatherings focused on tactical drills, fitness sessions, and team-building activities to solidify on-field chemistry and finalize the squad's tactical identity. The gathering is expected to focus on tactical drills, fitness conditioning and team cohesion.
