Ian Rutledge (42) passed away at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast as a result of gun wounds. He was married to Vanessa Whyte (45) and was the father of her two children, James (14) and Sara (13). Vanessa and Sara were found dead in their Maguiresbridge home last Wednesday morning. James was taken to the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen, but died from his injuries later that day. Ian Rutledge Mr Rutledge had been critical care since the shooting. A PSNI statement issued on Monday evening said: 'The Police Service of Northern Ireland has confirmed that a fourth person has now died following a shooting incident in Maguiresbridge.' The statement added: 'Ian Rutledge was taken to hospital on Wednesday 23 July, where he remained in a serious condition. He passed away this evening, 28 July.' Detectives have reiterated their appeal for anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. Sources had previously said Rutledge had been experiencing depression and that his vision was deteriorating due to an underlying illness. It is understood that Rutledge had returned to live at the family home in Maguiresbridge, having previously moved out following the end of a relationship several years earlier. It is understood the 999 emergency call from the Drummeer Road residence on Wednesday morning was made from the phone of 13-year-old Sara. Police have not yet confirmed who made the call, as the line remained silent during the emergency communication shortly before 8am. However, the call handler was able to hear activity in the background, prompting the alert. Attempts to return the call went unanswered. Emergency services arrived at the house shortly before 8.30am. Police described the scene inside the house as 'harrowing'. A vigil for Vanessa, Sara and James is taking place in Armagh at 6pm on Monday evening. On Friday, at Maguiresbridge Primary School, which James and Sara were both previous pupils of, a vigil was also held for the three deceased family members. A special prayer service also took place at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Barefield, Co Clare – Ms Whyte's home village - on Sunday evening at 7pm. Books of condolences have been opened at both the church and at Maguiresbridge Primary School. Earlier on Sunday, a minute's silence was held for Vanessa, Sara and James, just moments before throw-in at the All Ireland senior football final between the Donegal and Kerry men's teams. Text on the screen at Croke Park read: 'Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha' – which translates from Irish into English as: 'May their souls be seated on God's right hand.'

A fourth person has died following a shooting incident in Co Fermanagh in which a mother and her two children were killed. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has named the deceased as 43-year-old Ian Rutledge. Mr Rutledge was injured in a shooting incident at a house on the Drumeer Road area of Maguiresbridge last Wednesday morning, 23 July. He was rushed in a serious condition to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, where he passed away on Monday evening, according to the PSNI. Vanessa Whyte, 45, her son James, 14, and daughter Sara, 13, died earlier following the same incident. Ms Whyte was originally from Barefield, a village near Ennis in Co Clare. It is understood that the funeral of Ms Whyte and her two children will take place in Barefield later this week. Two children killed in a suspected triple murder and attempted suicide in County Fermanagh were "part of the fabric of the community", the local MP has victims - a woman in her 40s and her son and daughter - died after being shot at a house in Drummeer Road in Maguiresbridge on Wednesday.A man - who is a member of the same household - is being treated for serious injuries at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast."Two wee children have lost their lives and a mummy, when they just should be enjoying the school holidays and having a wonderful time," Pat Cullen told the BBC's Good Morning Ulster programme. At a press conference on Wednesday, a senior police officer said the investigation was at an early stage, but a suspected triple murder and attempted suicide was one line of inquiry for detectives. Ms Cullen said the community was "absolutely heartbroken"."They were really part of the community, part of the fabric of the community and how sadly they will all be missed by their wee friends and of course their mother will be sadly missed by this community as well," the Sinn Féin MP Unionist peer Lord Elliott said the incident was devastating. "The family is so local and because the wider family is so well known, it's just devastating, people are really finding it difficult to get their head around this and that this actually happened," he remain at the scene on Thursday morning. The road is likely to be closed for some time while officers continue to gather evidence, BBC News NI understands. 'Life moves slowly here' This is a close-knit community - absolutely everybody here knows who the victims in the village don't seem to want to talk about this at the moment because the family was local and very well respected, and this has just come as a complete shock out of the blue. This is such a rural, quiet place, life moves slowly a real sense of devastation in the village. Murder inquiry The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) launched a murder inquiry on Wednesday. At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Supt Robert McGowan said no arrests had been made "it is not anticipated that they will be made".Supt McGowan said police received a call at 07:50 BST on Wednesday and officers from Enniskillen PSNI station went to the scene at a property on Drummeer Road. "The alarm was raised, I believe, by a phone call made from the house," he officer said the emergency services were confronted with a "harrowing scene" when they entered the home. Supt McGowan said two of the victims were declared dead at the scene on Wednesday morning and a third died later in hospital in Enniskillen. All three people died from gunshot man who is in hospital in Belfast has also suffered gunshot wounds. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it received a call at 08:21 BST on Wednesday and sent three vehicles and the air ambulance to the officers helped ambulance staff to administer first aid in the house. NI leaders 'deeply saddened' by deaths Northern Ireland's leaders released a joint statement on Wednesday night, thanking the emergency services who responded to the Minister Michelle O'Neill and Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly said they were "deeply saddened" by what had happened. Fermanagh Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) has offered its "heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those impacted" by the incident. The three family members who died were each members of two GAA clubs in County Fermanagh. St Mary's Maguiresbridge Gaelic Football Club and St Patrick's Hurling Club Lisbellaw described them as "active and beloved" members of their clubs said they would "work closely with all appropriate services to ensure that those who require support at this difficult time can access it". Enniskillen Cricket Club said it was "extremely saddened" by the events in Maguiresbridge. Both children played cricket at school, the club said. "Both of them turned out to be talented young cricketers and two absolutely lovely natured children," the club said."In what is a hard time for our small community, we would ask everyone to pull together and support each other through these difficult times."A statement from a Church of Ireland's Clogher Diocese said "the whole community has been shocked and saddened following the tragic shooting incident"."Our church community will be supporting family members in the difficult days that lie ahead and ask the public to respect their privacy at this time," said the Very Reverend Kenneth Hall.
