BHUBANESWAR: Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday said ensuring maximum participation of the youth in the country's development by empowering them is the top priority of the Narendra Modi government. Handing over job appointment letters to 204 youth at the 16th national employment fair here, Pradhan said it was a matter of pride that over 10 lakh youth have been appointed through the Rozgar Melas held across the country. He thanked the prime minister for this initiative and distributing appointment letters to over 51,000 newlyrecruited youth through video conference at 47 locations of the country. Highlighting the rapid economic growth, increased digital transactions and capital investment, Pradhan emphasised the need to leverage youth-led innovation, skills and leadership to achieve the goal of a developed India by 2047. Of the new recruitees, 143 got jobs in the Railways, 36 in the postal department, nine in finance services, six in the revenue service, two in CRPF and CISF, one each at IISER Berhampur and AIIMS-Bhubaneswar. Later talking to reporters, Pradhan hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his alleged derogatory remarks about President Droupadi Murmu and his misleading comments on Rath Yatra. He mocked Gandhi's ignorance and accused him of disrespecting the dignity of the President, who hails from a tribal background. 'The Congress leader must offer a public apology especially since he made the statements while visiting Odisha,' Pradhan said.

Over 10.5 lakh jobs provided through Rozgar Melas: Union Minister Kishan Reddy

HYDERABAD: Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy announced that approximately 10.50 lakh jobs have been provided so far through the Rozgar Melas conducted across the country. He made the statement while distributing appointment letters to 114 newly recruited candidates at an event held at Rail Kalarang in Secunderabad on Saturday. The event was part of the 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela, which was launched virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As part of the nationwide initiative, appointment letters were distributed to over 51,000 newly inducted central government employees across 47 locations. In the South Central Railway (SCR) zone, key centres such as Secunderabad, Guntakal, and Guntur participated in the mela. Speaking at the event, Kishan Reddy emphasised that the Rozgar Mela is not a one-time programme but a continuous initiative that reflects the Centre's commitment to generating employment. He urged young people to become job creators, not just job seekers, and highlighted the government's efforts in building the world's third-largest startup ecosystem. Citing data from the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), the minister said over eight crore jobs have been generated since 2017 across sectors. He also highlighted various initiatives aimed at enhancing youth skills and employability, such as the establishment of skill hubs and universities. Kishan Reddy further noted India's global standing in various sectors, including being the second-largest mobile phone manufacturing hub, fourth in renewable energy capacity, and the world's largest producer of railway locomotives. He also outlined flagship government schemes like the Vishwakarma Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Mudra Yojana, and others aimed at public welfare and national development. Earlier, SCR Additional General Manager Neeraj Agrawal presented the welcome address. He stated that across SCR jurisdiction covering Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, 200 individuals received appointment letters in various departments of Central government, public sector undertakings and others. Later, DRM (Secunderabad) Bhartesh Kumar Jain presented the vote of thanks.

Bhimavaram (West Godavari District): Providing employment opportunities to youth is the primary goal of Rozgar Mela initiative, Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma said. Participating as the chief guest at 16th Rozgar Mela held in Guntakal on Saturday, the Minister reiterated that the Central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, has been consistently working to provide quality employment to all sections of society. According to a release from the Minister's office in Bhimavaram, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated Rozgar Mela through video conferencing and launched the distribution of appointment letters to 51,000 selected candidates across the country. Following this, Minister Srinivasa Varma handed over appointment letters to the selected candidates from railway and postal departments in Guntakal and congratulated them. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stated that over 10 lakh appointment letters have already been distributed across the country through Rozgar Melas in recent times. He urged the newly recruited individuals not to see themselves merely as employees, but as active participants in the nation's development. He said their dedication, discipline, and commitment would help build a stronger India. The Union Minister mentioned that the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) supplied 16,000 tonnes of high-strength steel for the construction of the world's highest railway bridge over the Chenab River in Jammu & Kashmir — a shining example of India's industrial capabilities. He also noted that the Central government is equally focused on creating job opportunities in the private sector and has introduced key reforms in labour laws to support women's empowerment and workforce participation.

Hyderabad: Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy said the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has so far issued appointment letters to 10.50 lakh youths in the last 15 Rozgar Melas. An additional 51,000 appointment letters have been issued during the 16th Rozgar Mela on Saturday. Addressing the 16th Rozgar Mela held in Rail Kakal Rang on Saturday, he said those who are receiving letters of appointment would be the main partners in the programmes of the country for the next 25 years. He said the strength of the country is in having the largest youth population in the world, and it has further increased the responsibility towards the country and opened doors to wider opportunities. The Union Minister said that it was due to the power of youth that the country has become the fourth largest economy, and is heading to become the third largest economy in the world. In the last 11 years, he said the Modi's government has not only taken steps to create jobs but also to make them partners in the development of the country in all sectors. In its bid to make youth become job creators rather than waiting for jobs, the Centre has taken several initiatives like Startups, skilling, and other schemes to empower the youth. Startup India is providing youth with industrial ideas and encouraging them. More than 1.60 lakh startups have been formed in the country through the Startup India scheme and 17.6 lakh people have been employed in 11 years. Most of these 1.6 lakh-plus startups are in secondary and tertiary cities scripting an inspiration for others, he added. As a result, 'Since 2017, 8.5 crore people have been given new jobs. EPFO calculations reveal th ese details. Since 2020, more than 3.5 crore youth, aged between 18 and 28 years, have registered with EPFO. In the 2025 financial year alone, 1.13 crore people joined EPFO.' he added/ Besides, the world's largest social security program is running in India. About 64 per cent of the Indian population receives benefits as part of social security. He listed out the schemes unveiled to support women through Mudra Yojana and the Lakh Pati Didi program. As a result of such schemes.. Women's Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) has increased from 23 per cent in 2017-18 to 41.7 per cent in 2023-24.

Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 93 candidates received appointment letters as part of 16th National Level Rozgar Mela organised by Southern Railway in Thiruvananthapuram. These included postings in Indian Railways, Isro, VSSC, CRPF, Union Bank of India, EPFO, Central Water Commission and IIM Kozhikode. Among them, 54 candidates received jobs in railways. The event was part of a nationwide initiative, where over 51,000 appointment letters were distributed through Rozgar Melas organised by Indian Railways at 47 locations across the country. Divisional railway manager of Thiruvananthapuram Manish Thaplyal said, "It is a moment of pride to witness young individuals stepping into public service, especially in departments like railways, which touch millions of lives daily."
