‘RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 10' recap: Acid Betty strategizes to turn a bottom into a top

This week on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 10, the third bracket of six returning queens competed in their second of three episodes, a performance challenge as two groups of dueling country trios. In last week's first challenge, Daya Betty and Ginger Minj came out on top in the Wicked-themed design challenge, providing themselves an early points lead in the path to the second round. Acid Betty, Alyssa Hunter, Cynthia Lee Fontaine, and Denali all entered the second challenge hoping to close the gap with the early leaders. Read on for our recap of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 10, Episode 8, titled "Stagecooch," which began streaming Friday, June 20 at 12 a.m. PT on Paramount+. The queens who advanced from the first bracket were Irene the Alien (Season 15), Bosco (Season 14), and Aja (Season 9, All Stars 3). From the second bracket, Jorgeous (Season 14, All Stars 9), Lydia B Kollins (Season 17), and Mistress Isabelle Brooks (Season 15) advanced. SEE 'RuPaul's Drag Race' winners list: Every season, plus 'All Stars' Paramount+ — Denali Faced with the Most Valuable Queen point distribution for the first time, Acid, Alyssa, Cynthia and Denali realized that "with one point we can change everything," and decided to split them evenly among themselves. Unlike with the second bracket queens, they were able to manage this free of shady shenanigans: Cynthia gave her point to Alyssa, Denali gave her point to Acid, Acid gave her point to Denali, and Alyssa gave her point to Cynthia. Before advancing to the next maxi challenge, RuPaul Charles arrived with a Clueless-themed photo shoot as a mini challenge. Once the queens were in their Cher Horowitz quick drag and the cameras stopped flashing on the yellow plaid backdrop, Denali was declared the winner and recipient of a $1,000 cash prize. For the maxi challenge, the girls were tasked with dividing themselves into two groups of three in which they'd write and record original verses then perform their own stage choreography to two country songs, "Key Your Car" and "Trailer Hitch." After a first pass through the songs, five of the queens preferred "Trailer Hitch" because of it's sexy vibe. Daya recognized that the bitchier attitude of "Key Your Car" would play to her strengths and Ginger wasn't worried about doing either song, so they both joined Cynthia and allowed Alyssa, Acid and Denali to get the song they wanted without having to compete for it. During brainstorm sessions, Cynthia and Denali were both feeling super confident in their respective teams, "The Mudflaps" and "The Whiskey Chicks." Daya thought they had an advantage as three theatrical queens while Alyssa considered themselves to have the advantage because seen as the underdog offered them the chance to surprise the judges. Paramount+ — Ginger Minj When the queens arrived for their recording session with composer David Steinberg, they were also greeted by country musician Orville Peck who offered advice on their lyrics and performances. He suggested to Daya that she add a growl (she barked instead), helped Cynthia trim down the wordiness of her lines, counseled Acid that she not "think about it like singing" through her pitch problems, and laughed through Alyssa's muppet-sounding approach. Luckily for her group, Acid was able to help steer Alyssa away from her Kermit voice and get her to use more of her own voice instead. For choreography, the queens were on their own this time (despite resident choreographer Jamal Sims showing up later as the guest judge). Daya took the lead on the moves for "The Mudflaps," but left a lot of Cynthia and Ginger's ideas on the floor and requiring a lot of repetitive rehearsing. Because of her dancing background, Denali was the obvious leader in this portion for "The Whiskey Chicks." Alyssa and Acid picked up Denali's direction quickly and really well, leaving Daya, Cynthia and Ginger a bit gooped from the sidelines. Knowing the point system at this point, Ginger and Daya were keenly aware that the likelihood of them both winning again was small. With that in mind, they wanted to ensure that they remained at the top and so they formed an alliance to give points to each other. At the same time, Acid petitioned to the other previous bottom queens that they attempt a strategy of pooling points in the hands of one queen so that one of them could be boosted closer to the top. Acid believed that the single points would not get them anywhere, but adding them together makes a difference. When asked directly by Daya, Acid said that she speaks for the group that Daya would not be receiving a point from any of them. MTV — Ross Mathews On the Main Stage this week was Ru, Michelle Visage, Ross Mathews, and Jamal to watch the queens perform at the first ever Stagecooch Festival and walk the runway in the "Night of 1,000 Mileys" category honoring Miley Cyrus looks. In the critiques for "The Whiskey Chicks," Michelle gave Acid props for taking risks outside her comfort zone and Jamal liked her execution of the choreography, Ross thought Alyssa was both beautiful and funny but Michelle found her recording "off-rhythm," and Denali got high marks for her lyrics and Jamal could tell that she was the leader of her team. With regard to "The Mudflaps," Michelle liked that Cynthia's storytelling in the performance and Jamal loved her "cotton candy" look, the judges thought Daya was "in control the whole way through" and Ru and Michelle found "authenticity" in her look, and Jamal liked the funny mixed with sexiness from Ginger and Ross appreciates that she sets up who she is as a drag queen right from the start. After further deliberation, Ru chose Denali and Ginger as the top two for the week, earning two points apiece. To compete for the extra third point, they performed in the Lip Sync for Your Legacy to Miley's "See You Again." From behind them, Acid noticed that Denali was performing tricks and hitting all the marks, but Ginger was "commanding the stage" naturally. Ru agreed with Acid's take and gave the win to Ginger. The decision set Ginger in a frontrunner position with six points overall. Based on her win, Denali soared to second place with three points. Daya slid down to third place with two points. Cynthia, Acid and Alyssa remained at the bottom with one point each, but with a point each yet to award once again in the MVQ twist. RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 10 Finale: Which Wild Card Pick Will Return? And Which Queen Was Snubbed?

Gooped. Gagged. Gobsmacked. If any of the above describe your current emotional state, there's a good chance you just finished watching the penultimate episode of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 10. I'll start with the question on every viewer's mind: What the heck happened to Mistress Isabelle Brooks? Initially considered a frontrunner in the competition, both as a fierce competitor and a shady schemer, the Texas titan returned for the semifinals last week as a shell of her former self, bombing Snatch Game and having to lip sync for her life. But instead of letting this light a fire under her, Mistress continued to spiral this week, landing back in the bottom two after a subpar talent show performance and so-so runway look. More from TVLine Criminal Minds Boss Talks Finale's Chilling Tease, Reveals Season 19 Time Jump and 'Overdue' [Spoiler] Arc Get Paramount+ for Just $1/Month - Binge Criminal Minds, The Chi, Drag Race All Stars and More Save the Dates: Eva Longoria's Wrexham Spinoff, Drop on Peacock and More And that's to say nothing of her bizarre behavior throughout Episode 11, beginning with her icing out the other queens with short, snippy responses. I'm proud of Aja for maintaining her composure in the Werk Room; lesser queens would have lost their cool over Mistress' senseless taunting. The more she talked, the more I felt like I was watching someone unravel — someone I once genuinely rooted for. But after suffering through more of Mistress' shenanigans this week, I wasn't the least bit disappointed to see Lydia B(utthole) Kollins send her home at the end of the hour. That's right, Mistress was the last contestant eliminated ahead of next week's grand finale. That means the following queens are confirmed to be competing in the Lip Sync LaLaPaRuza: Aja, Bosco, Daya Betty, Ginger Minj, Irene the Alien, Jorgeous and Lydia. But wait, the gooping, gagging and gobsmacking continues! Following Mistress' elimination, RuPaul (with an assist from the always-delightful Angeria Paris VanMicheals) revealed the judges' Wild Card picks: Ross Mathews chose Mistress, while Michelle Visage and Ts Madison both chose Kerri Colby. Did anyone else assume that three judges would mean three queens? Because I sure did! And are you also surprised that none of the judges voted to bring back Denali? Don't get me wrong, Kerri definitely deserved a vote, and I'm not totally shocked that Mistress got one, but Denali felt like she earned a shot at Ru-demption. The online backlash after she 'lost' that lip sync to Ginger was real. Regardless, two Kerri balls and one Mistress ball were placed in the sacred Drag Race Bingo cage, but whose name did Bruno pull out? Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until next week for that answer. (Believe me, I watched that preview from the finale in super slow motion. No dice.) On a more positive note, I'd also like to congratulate Bosco on her well-deserved win this week. Watching her thrive on this show all season long has been a delight, and I'd be pleased as punch to see her crowned the winner of All Stars 10 next week. #TeamBosco Who are you hoping to see back on the main stage in next week's finale? Were you also expecting to see Denali's name in one of those envelopes? And who do you think will/should win the whole season? Vote for the name you hope to see in Bruno's hand, then drop a comment with your thoughts on all things below. 'Drag Race All Stars 10' Snatch Game: Questions, reactions, & results

- YouTube Editor's note: This article contains spoilers for episode 10, titled "Tournament of All Stars Snatch Game," of . Nine queens from three brackets compete in one Snatch Game, and the result is a whirlwind episode of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 10 where strategies, fandoms, and storylines collide. Inspired by Survivor, fans have been referring to episode 10, titled "Tournament of All Stars Snatch Game," as a "merge" for All Stars 10: The coming together of queens who initially competed within separate groups. That element is alive, indeed, as we watch dizzying day-one dynamics playing out in week 10. Except that this is an All Stars season, so an otherwise pleasant meet-cute is also packed with callbacks and biases. There is also a sobering reminder from the queens' heightened emotions around the Snatch Game that, unlike a Survivor merge, this is not the halfway point of the season. This is not an opportunity to reset, make new alliances, and re-calculate one's position on the chess board. This merge is on the verge of the grand finale, which makes it a disruptive and nerve-racking new format to the overall RuPaul's Drag Race franchise. Paramount+ Tournament of All Stars sign on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 10 episode 10. The nine semi-finalists literally walk back into this Tournament of All Stars. It's a cute choice to have them re-enter the main stage, like the nations that introduce themselves during an Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, or teams that walk through the field to warm up before an actual game. Aja, Bosco, Cynthia Lee Fontaine, Daya Betty, Ginger Minj, Irene The Alien, Jorgeous, Lydia B Kollins, and Mistress Isabelle Brooks enter this drag-o-dome with the points system that qualified them to the semi-finals. However, in typical Drag Race twist fashion, the rug is immediately pulled right under them. "Starting today, and for the next two weeks, semi-final rules are in full effect," a mustachioed RuPaul announces. "To start, we are wiping the points you've earned in the preliminary round, so everyone starts the semi-finals on a level playing field." RuPaul explains, "Moving forward, I will name one top All Star of the week who will receive a cash tip of $10,000. And the two bottom queens will lip sync for their lives." Paramount+ Bosco; Ginger Minj; Daya Betty on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 10 episode 10. Well, yes! The All Stars 10 semi-finals have queens shaking in their boots when Ru announces that the bottom 2 queens of each week will be lip syncing for their lives, just like they would in a regular flagship season of Drag Race. In other words, these semi-finalists in the Tournament of All Stars will not lip sync for their lives (as paired-up competitors on All Stars 1), or for your legacy (as introduced on All Stars 2), or for a Ru-demption (as utilized over the years). Their fates will not be decided by a teammate, by other queens voting in a Ru-mocracy system, nor by the top 2 queens of the week. For context, the official "lip sync for your life" term was only used once on All Stars 2 for the "Shut Up and Drive" lip sync between Alyssa Edwards and Tatianna. It made sense, as those queens had been eliminated from the season and were lip syncing for a chance to return to the competition. That term was then used similarly in the "LaLaPaRuZa" episode of All Stars 4, which was also about the potential return of eliminated queens. As eliminated queens were paired up with current competitors, RuPaul declared that they had to "lip sync for your life" to keep that spot in the game. There really aren't any other instances of that term being used on All Stars. Even the iconic lip sync smackdown that nearly brought back Silky Nutmeg Ganache onto All Stars 6 was worded as a "lip sync for your Ru-demption." Nonetheless, that is the rule moving forward in the All Stars 10 semi-finals — a refreshing twist that raises the stakes of this season yet again. No, this wasn't the worst Snatch Game of all time. We've seen worse, several times. Unless it's for recency bias, this Snatch Game probably doesn't enter a rock-bottom list. But this intense reaction comes from a fandom that is — for once — openly loving this season. It's also wild to consider that literally all nine of these queens have made us laugh many times over the years… And then there's this. The Tournament of All Stars Snatch Game included the following impersonations: Aja as Samantha "Cookie Tookie" James, Bosco as Kenny Kerr, Cynthia Lee Fontaine as Dracula, Daya Betty as Jane Lynch, Ginger Minj as Reba McEntire, Irene The Alien as Zsa Zsa Gabor, Jorgeous as Pitbull, Lydia B Kollins as Pete Burns, and Mistress Isabelle Brooks as Natalie Nunn. Paramount+ Raven wears a crown during the Snatch Game of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 10 episode 10. In case you haven't paid attention, RuPaul ends every Snatch Game with an unserious announcement about the "winner" of the challenge. These unserious "winners" have been "the Amish, because they don't have televisions," Victoria Porkchop Parker, "Who cares?!", Charo, and "All of the celebrities who weren't impersonated tonight." But it seems like thousands of likes, comments, and re-posts are taking this unserious winner a little more seriously. "Now, the moment you've all been waiting for. Today's winner is…" RuPaul says at the end of this Snatch Game. "Raven!" The camera cuts to Raven's face. "You're a winner, baby. Condragulations, Raven. Finally!" RuPaul teases. "Is there anything you'd like to say?" Raven, with a literal crown on her head, responds: "With a tanning booth and a dream, anything is possible." Logo TV; Paramount+ Ginger Minj wins the Snatch Game as Adele on RuPaul's Drag Race season 7; as Phyllis Diller on All Stars 6; as Reba McEntire on All Stars 10. All jokes aside, actual Drag Race herstory is made during this episode. Ginger Minj (as Reba McEntire) wins the Tournament of All Stars Snatch Game and becomes the first queen of all time to win the Snatch Game three times. Ginger (as Adele) first won the Snatch Game on Drag Race season 7 in a tie with Kennedy Davenport (as Little Richard). The second time came with Ginger (as Phyllis Diller) also winning this challenge on All Stars 6. VH1; Paramount+ Cynthia Lee Fontaine is eliminated after a Snatch Game impersonation as Sofía Vergara on RuPaul's Drag Race season 9; as Dracula on All Stars 10. Gia Gunn was the first queen — and, until this episode, the only queen — to be eliminated twice as a result of underperforming in the Snatch Game. The first time as Kim Kardashian on Drag Race season 6, then a second time as Jenny Bui on All Stars 4. Cynthia Lee Fontaine's first Snatch Game, as Sofía Vergara, resulted in her elimination from Drag Race season 9. The Cucu queen unfortunately has the same outcome after impersonating Dracula in this All Stars 10 edition of the Snatch Game. Paramount+ Mistress Isabelle Brooks lip syncs to 'Who's Zoomin' Who' by Aretha Franklin on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 10 episode 10. Facts are facts, America! Mistress Isabelle Brooks delivers a truly legendary lip sync performance to the a cappella version of "Who's Zoomin' Who" by Aretha Franklin. And speaking of facts: Franklin's 30th album, Who's Zoomin' Who? (which has an actual question mark not included in the title track), is celebrating its 40th anniversary this Wednesday, July 9. Beyond what anyone thinks about MIB's reality TV shenanigans and/or social media antics, the diva is entirely clocked-in for this lip sync and had old-school drag fans passionately snapping at their TVs for the entire duration of this number. Mistress had a powerful command of the stage while serving a wildly entertaining face journey and being in perfect synchrony with the rhythm of the lyrics… An absolute knockout of a performance that stands out for all the right reasons. It was hard to believe that Drag Race, in 2025, took such a big swing with an a cappella lip sync for this Tournament of All Stars. But it did, and it was incredible. Thank gawd. Do we love to hear that Cynthia Lee Fontaine is suddenly eligible to enter this lottery system being teased all season long? Yes! Are we confused about how this lottery twist actually works and feel like it was heavily implied in the preliminary brackets that this was another chance for the queens who didn't qualify to the semi-finals to have a chance in the next round of the competition despite not making it there with enough points? Absolutely. Multiple things can be true at once, and that's beautiful. drops new episodes every Friday on . - YouTube This article originally appeared on Out: 'Drag Race All Stars 10' Snatch Game: Questions, reactions, & results

RuPaul's Drag Race's AI Use Sparks Fan Backlash

Surrounded by investment and innovation projects, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) kicks off today in Barcelona amid a context of euphoria but also tensions over artificial intelligence (AI), whose rapid advancement is shaking up the tech sector. (Photo by Manaure Quintero / AFP) (Photo by MANAURE QUINTERO/AFP via Getty Images) Earlier today, the RuPaul's Drag Race YouTube account released a short video titled "Jinkx & Plasma's Gay Adventure!" In this brief video, which was meant to mark the end of Pride Month, the two titular drag queens, who only provided their voices, are shown in an animated video going down a tunnel on a gondola set to Shirley Bassey's 'This is My Life.' As they go further down the tunnel, key moments from the show and its spin-off, RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, are included in a montage designed to evoke nostalgia for long-time fans. Initially, this was a clever and well-thought-out idea, and a simple way to generate excitement about new content, and it did create buzz, though not for the reasons the channel might have hoped. You see, the execution of this video quickly came under fire due to the world's current controversial hot topic: the video was created with AI. HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 12: Host Jinkx Monsoon attends The Queerties 2024 on March 12, 2024 ... More in Hollywood, California. (Photo by) Within a few hours, fans commented on the video and on social media to voice their concerns about AI's use and the idea that it contradicts the essence of drag as an art form itself. For example, while many fans discussed the concept behind the video and its creative potential, they also highlighted the importance of a franchise that has featured many contestants and their dedication to drag as an art form. They pointed out that AI is a shortcut in a show that has championed and profited from the artistry and creativity of drag artists both domestically and internationally. The Cost of Cutting Corners Interestingly enough, some of the loudest critics of AI use were Drag Race YouTubers like JackFed and GreenGay. Many fans agreed and shared similar opinions and criticisms across social media and on the YouTube video itself. Many pointed out that, in addition to Drag Race generating millions annually from its success, many scenes in the video of some of the series' most iconic moments were also AI-generated, which sparked further discussion about the need to pay artists. This was because the AI-generated content was altered, edited, and combined from pre-existing material, which could have been avoided if a professional had been hired to create this tribute instead of AI. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder I've spoken before about how Drag Race thrives through its willingness to engage in authenticity, and how the most successful artists from the show are able to connect with fans because of that same authenticity. Therefore, it's no surprise that there was such a large outcry from fans of the show. Still, where most brands would stand their ground and explain why their content posed no issue, or would make a long post outlining how the show was evolving and exploring new ways to engage with fans through the use of AI-generated content, Drag Race quickly removed the video from public view, which pacified many of the fans that offered critique, showing them that they were heard and listened to, despite no official statement coming from World of Wonder or Drag Race at this time. While brands are constantly innovating and trying to figure out how AI fits in, Drag Race knows that its multi-million-dollar franchise relies on its viewers and is willing to listen rather than push back when they have something to say. While we don't know the full extent of Drag Race and its potential future with AI, we do know that it's willing to put authenticity at the forefront of its brand, even if that means removing content. In the end, Drag Race conveys a clear message: We value artistry and authenticity.

'Drugs shouldn't define The Vivienne', friend says

The best friend of James Lee Williams, better known as Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne, has told an inquest they "don't want drugs to define who James was as a person". James Lee Williams, who won the first series of Ru Paul's Drag Race UK performing as their alter-ego in 2019, died in the bath at their home near Chester on 5 January this year. Giving evidence at Cheshire Coroner's Court in Warrington, Bobby Musker told the court how he had last spoken to the drag performer via video call on the night of January 3. Senior Coroner Jacqueline Devonish recorded a conclusion of death by misadventure after the court heard Williams had suffered a cardiac arrest brought on by a ketamine overdose. Williams, who went by they/them and he/him pronouns, had spoken about their addiction struggles on an episode of Ru Paul's Drag Race - which their father Lee Williams told the court was the first their family had known about it. However he believed they had been successful staying sober, and their immediate family were unaware that they had relapsed. Mr Williams told the court: "He was just an outgoing character full-of-life. "He just wanted to give people laughs and help them on the way, and I think in a way he achieved that." The court had heard Williams appeared to have been dead since the evening of Friday January 3. The 32-year-old star's body was found by their neighbour Janine Godbold, who sobbed in court as she recalled how they "looked like they were sleeping".
