Germany rejects Russian allegations of journalist harassment
BERLIN, June 27 (Reuters) - A German foreign ministry official on Friday rejected "unfounded accusations" made by Russia's foreign ministry that Berlin had persecuted Russian journalists working in the country. "In contrast to Russia's increasingly harsh repression of journalists, Germany upholds the principles of the rule of law and freedom of the press," the official said in a statement. Russia summoned the German ambassador earlier on Friday to inform him of retaliatory measures in response to what it sees as the harassment of Russian journalists based in Germany, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. In a statement, the Russian ministry said the German ambassador, Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, was informed that "Berlin should not continue the practice of systematic harassment of Russian journalists in Germany." Such "open unfriendly actions by the German authorities will inevitably be met with a response from the Russian side," the ministry said. Lambsdorff was quoted by the Izvestia outlet as saying the meeting, which lasted over two hours, was "interesting." "We discussed the working conditions of our correspondents. We will continue this dialogue."

Israel has no right to force ‘regime change' in Iran
Israel has no justification for trying to bring about 'regime change' in Iran through its bombing campaign, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told RT's Rick Sanchez on Wednesday. West Jerusalem's backers conveniently forget about all the legal and moral principles they claim to defend the moment they're called upon to support the Jewish State, she stated. Israel launched a series of missile attacks against Iran on Friday, claiming that Tehran was on the brink of acquiring nuclear weapons – a goal Tehran has repeatedly denied pursuing. The Islamic Republic responded with a missile barrage of its own, and the two nations have been exchanging strikes ever since. 'What has Iran done wrong? What is it being bombed for?' Zakharova asked Sanchez in response to a question about the ongoing hostilities. 'Israel says they don't like the regime in Iran, the political regime,' Zakharova said, stressing that this doesn't gives West Jerusalem the right to attack another nation. 'Whether you like a regime or you don't, if it doesn't attack you… you have no right to change that regime,' she argued. Iran's nuclear program, which Israel portrays as a source of major concern, is a matter for international law and diplomacy to deal with, the spokeswoman pointed out, adding that any issues linked to it should be resolved by the international community. 'It's not a matter of somebody trying to solve this issue on their own,' she added. West Jerusalem has also failed to prove that there was any immediate threat coming from Tehran, Zakharova maintained. 'We've heard multiple statements from Israel that they have proof that Iran is one step away from creating weapons of mass destruction. Why can't they just show the documents?' she said, expressing doubts about whether any such evidence exists. Yet, the lack of justification for Israel's actions apparently does not concern Western nations, the spokeswoman said. Israel is bombing Iran, and the Western world keeps saying that Israel has the right to do so. The West seems to have forgotten in an instant about human rights, about children… in the midst of hell. On Monday, Iran's authorities said that, since the start of hostilities, Israeli attacks have killed at least 224 people, including 74 women and children, while injuring 1,800. Meanwhile, Israel claims that Iranian strikes have killed at least 24 people, all civilians, while injuring nearly 600.

US postpones talks with Russia
The US has postponed bilateral consultations with Moscow aimed at easing tensions and restoring diplomatic missions, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced on Monday. Earlier this year, Russia and the US held two rounds of high-level talks, the first on February 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the second on February 27 in Istanbul, Türkiye. These discussions marked the first major direct talks since the deterioration of relations following the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine. The agenda included mutual restoration of embassy operations, easing visa issuance, addressing the Ukraine conflict, and exploring potential post-conflict economic cooperation. The next round of talks was to take place in Moscow. However, according to Zakharova, this meeting was canceled at the initiative of the American negotiators. In a statement published on the Russian Foreign Ministry's Telegram channel, she stated, 'As of today, the next meeting within the framework of bilateral consultations on eliminating 'irritants' to normalize the operation of diplomatic missions of both countries has been canceled at the initiative of the American negotiators.' She did not disclose the reason Washington's gave for postponing the meetings, adding only that Moscow hopes that 'the pause they have taken will not last too long.' Since taking office earlier this year, US President Donald Trump has made efforts to reestablish contact with Moscow, which had been largely severed under his predecessor, Joe Biden. Russian officials have welcomed the shift, also expressing readiness to normalize bilateral relations.

Russia advises it citizens against travel to Iran and Israel
Russia's Foreign Ministry on Friday urged Russian citizens to refrain from travelling to Iran or Israel and told those "in the conflict zone" to stay well away from military objects and busy public places. Israel launched a barrage of strikes across Iran on Friday, saying it had attacked nuclear facilities and missile factories and killed a swathe of military commanders in what could be a prolonged operation to prevent Tehran building an atomic weapon. Russia earlier on Friday said that the Israeli strikes were unprovoked and in breach of the United Nations charter, and accused Israel of wrecking diplomatic efforts to reach a deal to allay Western concerns about Tehran's nuclear programme.
