Teen e-bike rider killed while fleeing cops on Long Island identified: NCPD
NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (PIX11) – A 15-year-old boy who was killed while fleeing police on Long Island on Sunday has been identified, according to the Nassau County Police Department. Police said Antonio Benitez, of Garden City Park, was struck by a 2015 Lexus while on an e-bike in New Hyde Park around 8:15 p.m. He died at the scene after sustaining severe injuries, according to authorities. More Local News The NYPD said Benitez was running from the scene of a knifepoint robbery near Hillside Avenue in Queens around 8 p.m. Ruyan Ali, 28, was arrested near the scene of the crash, according to authorities. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a fatality, aggravated unlicensed operation and multiple other VTL violations. LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) – A 15-year-old was fatally struck by a car while fleeing police on Long Island, according to police. The incident started in Queens, where police responded to a knifepoint robbery around 8 p.m. on Hillside Avenue, according to the NYPD. An unidentified person fled the scene on an e-bike, then was struck by a car in New Hyde Park on Long Island. More Local News Nassau County Police say the e-bike rider was a 15-year-old who was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the car, 28-year-old Ruyan Ali, was arrested at the scene of the crash, Nassau County Police said. Ali is accused of driving without a license, police said.
