Ryan Clark Makes Honest Assessment of Raiders OC Chip Kelly Before Training Camp
Ryan Clark Makes Honest Assessment of Raiders OC Chip Kelly Before Training Camp originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Las Vegas Raiders are entering the 2025 NFL season with plenty of moving pieces. New head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek completely revamped the roster this offseason in their first year at the helm. Advertisement They also put together an All-Star lineup of coordinators, position coaches and front office members, so the future of the Silver and Black finally looks promising. Raider Nation did have concerns, however, about new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. Kelly has been widely accepted as a bright offensive mind at the college level. But his short-term success with the Philadelphia Eagles, followed by utter failure with the San Francisco 49ers, has caused a bit of uncertainty heading into the year. Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Fortunately, it seems like Kelly has changed his ways and should be the man for the job in Las Vegas. ESPN commentator and Super Bowl champion safety Ryan Clark was asked on "The Mina Kimes Show" last week about whether he was a believer in Kelly. Advertisement "Yes, I am. He changed," Clark said. "In a day and age where what he started in college football is what everybody does. He had three pros on the outside [at Ohio State] ... There were times where, I'm obviously sitting in the stadium when they're playing Notre Dame, who's beat up up front, and he's like, 'You know what? We're gonna go 12 [personnel]. We're gonna run the football. We're gonna find ways to use 21 [personnel], and even though I have all these people on the outside, this is where I can win.'" This is a promising revelation for the Raiders, as they had arguably the worst offense in the league last season. Las Vegas' rushing attack ranked 32nd with just 79.8 yards per game, and their 18.2 points per contest were among the worst in the NFL as well. Las Vegas made several key upgrades on offense in terms of personnel as well, with quarterback Geno Smith now under center and rookie Ashton Jeanty expected to revive the backfield. There are question marks surrounding the team's wide receiver corps, given that two rookies are expected to contribute heavily. However, 2024 All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers and 1,000-yard receiver Jakobi Meyers should eat up the bulk of the targets. Top ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky closes in on new big-money deal to avoid free agency as he escapes ruthless budget cuts
Top ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky is reportedly close to signing a new deal with the network to avoid free agency as he also escapes the company's brutal budget cuts. Orlovsky has been with ESPN since 2018, the year after his long playing career in the NFL came to a close. Now, the former quarterback is 'at the 1-yard line' on inking a long-term contract extension with the network to be an analyst for the NFL and college football, per FOS. Earlier this year, he teased his future being up in the air with live on-camera address. 'You guys know this is the end of the season for me, certainly for [Ryan Clark] as well,' Orlovsky said on 'First Take' in February. 'I'm taking a break, won't be on TV for a long time. Just want to say thank you to you guys - Stephen A, Molly [Qerim], Shannon [Sharpe] for a great season.' 'Love being with you guys, love y'all. Never know what the future holds but I'm taking a break, I'm sure RC is as well. Just want to say thank you. Appreciate you guys so much.' Orlovsky is a frequent face on ESPN's programming during the NFL season, as he sits on NFL panels and is an on-air guest on programs like 'The Pat McAfee Show'. Over the last dozen months, Orlovsky has been poked at by his colleagues as a sign of comradery. To start his 2024, former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky decided to sniff 'First Take' co-host Molly Qerim's high heel live on-air, leading to all three fellow panelists to be disgusted. 'Are you really sniffing the shoe?' Qerim shockingly asked Orlovsky. 'I just got the shoe and I have tights on. Don't be weird.' Last April, Orlovsky was accused of farting live on-air of 'The Pat McAfee Show' by McAfee and his group of co-hosts during Tuesday's show. Orlovsky denies he farted on ESPN's air waves, stating it was the windshield wipers of his car where he conducted the interview instead. Orlovsky might have also invented a new way to eat a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup in January. The candy that combines chocolate and peanut butter into one delectable bite had half of the ingredients appeal to the former Detroit Lions starter. He filmed by Clark biting the chocolate parts off the treat and spitting them back into the wrapper that held it prior to consumption.

Former Steeler Ryan Clark blasts Aaron Rodgers to Pittsburgh as 'worst case scenario'
Not everyone is thrilled about Aaron Rodgers heading to Pittsburgh — just ask former Steelers safety Ryan Clark. Clark, an outspoken critic of Rodgers, was asked on ESPN what the dynamic between HC Mike Tomlin and the four-time MVP would be in Pittsburgh — and this was his response: Advertisement "This is the worst-case scenario for Pittsburgh Steelers fans. It continues to keep you mired in mediocrity. Will this team be better? Have they gotten better in the quarterback room? Absolutely. Will they contend for that championship that Pittsburgh Steelers' people, fans, and the organization thinks is the standard? No, they won't," Clark stated. "Five years from when both of these men retire, one of them will give the most motivational Hall of Fame speech we've ever heard. Another will probably give the most interesting — and it won't mean anything." Yikes. This isn't the first time Clark has taken aim at the future Hall of Fame QB. Last December, the former Steeler called Rodgers a "fraud" for his criticism directed at former players working at ESPN. Will Rodgers win Clark over with a dominant performance in Pittsburgh — or does the bad blood run deeper than anything football could fix? Steelers legend Troy Polamalu, Jalen Ramsey go viral in worlds collide video call
Steel sharpens steel — the perfect description for the viral virtual meeting of new Steelers CB Jalen Ramsey and Pittsburgh's legendary safety, Troy Polamalu. On Saturday afternoon, ex-Steelers safety turned ESPN analyst Ryan Clark posted a screenshot of a surprise video call between Ramsey and Polamalu on social media — captioning the moment: Advertisement "Connecting the Greats!! One Steelers legend and the next!" The post garnered praise and excitement from Steelers fans on social media — and not long after, Ramsey would thank Clark in the comments of his Instagram post for orchestrating the call: "Man, I appreciated that big bro @realrclark … Much love! I can't wait to be a part of something special!" The video call wasn't just a symbolic passing of the torch — Ramsey is expected to make an immediate impact throughout the Steelers secondary. His versatility allows him to line up outside, in the slot, and even at safety — a position Polamalu knows all too well. Advertisement After the Steelers traded All-Pro Minkah Fitzpatrick to acquire Ramsey and TE Jonnu Smith, Pittsburgh could lean heavily on Ramsey's ability to play deep — but signing a veteran free-agent safety isn't entirely out of the question.
