Colorado city of Englewood reimagining what parts South Broadway will look like

The City of Englewood recently launched an effort to re-imagine what parts of South Broadway will look like. It's part of the South Broadway Revitalization Project which focuses on just over two miles from Jefferson Avenue to Belleview Avenue. South Broadway runs through the heart of the city that lies just south of Denver, and that stretch of the road already features small local businesses, an arts district and community events. But those who work, live and play in the area want it to be more pedestrian-friendly and welcoming for people and businesses alike. "It's not walkable for a number of reasons," said Ryan Kelly, the owner of Hum Furniture. "It feels like a lot like, almost like a highway. People are zooming past. It seems more geared towards cars getting to their next destination than serving the community around us." Many added it often feels like a commuter stretch, especially in the area about a mile away from downtown Englewood. "It can make walking here a little bit dicey. I've also noticed that this area of Englewood is not an area that people look at as a destination or a place to spend a lot of time," said Whitney Bradford, who opened Western Sky Bar & Taproom nearly four years ago. Surrounding Bradford's business are some vacant buildings, some other small businesses and another bar across the street. "This is a really good example of where there could be some more pedestrian-friendly infrastructure," said Bradford. "I don't know how many times I've seen people dart across Broadway to go from Western Sky to the Englewood Tavern, and it's pretty scary." With the South Broadway Revitalization Project, the city hopes to make improvements by focusing on nine strategy areas, including safety, economic development and redevelopment. The city has also created strategy groups, in which Bradford is part of several. "I would also like to see some food options, a coffee shop, something like that, to where we can really try to become like a cohesive business community and support each other through this corridor," said Bradford. "So, to get it done, we probably need a couple of destinations where communities that are surrounding it can come and enjoy," said Kelly. "If the city could do something like that, I think it would be amazing." The project also includes adding more amenities and public art and hosting more signature events, with the overall goal of bringing more vibrancy to the area that some say is overlooked. "That's something that I'm really excited about, and getting more people to be able to come together on this side of town and meet their neighbors and have a good time," said Bradford. "I'm excited to hopefully see some new businesses being enticed to the area, some more pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, more greenery, a facelift and more color. I'm just really looking forward to this, this area kind of getting into their untapped potential." The revitalization project is still in the early stages. The City of Englewood is now asking the community to weigh in and share their thoughts on the future of the corridor through community surveys and public meetings. Rare occurrence unfolds for Colts in 2016 NFL redraft

A rare occurrence in a redraft of the 2016 NFL draft happened for the Indianapolis Colts. Pro Football Focus recently redrafted the entire first round of the 2016 NFL draft, and a very rare occurrence happened with the Indianapolis Colts in these do-overs: they picked the same player. With the 18th overall pick in this draft, the Colts originally selected center Ryan Kelly out of Alabama. In the redraft, PFF had them doing the exact same thing. "Ryan Kelly played at least 880 snaps in seven of those nine years while recording at least a 67.0 PFF overall grade in six," wrote PFF. "His best season came in 2023, when his 77.2 PFF overall grade ranked eighth among qualified centers." A reason it's rare to see a team land the same player in a redraft, especially if they are picking the middle to latter portion of the first round, is that in order for it to happen, the player has to be available, for one, and have been one of the top players in that year's class. Kelly was the starting center for the Colts in 2016 and held on to that role for nine seasons. He made 121 starts during that span, was a four-time Pro Bowler, and a one-time second-team All-Pro. Over the last three seasons, Kelly has allowed the fourth-lowest pressure rate among centers, according to PFF's metrics. This offseason, Kelly signed with the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent. This will be his first season not wearing a Colts uniform. Taking over for him in Indianapolis will presumably be Tanor Bortolini, although he is competing for those starting reps with Danny Pinter.

More than 80 Chicagoland New-Car Dealers Rally Together for Drive for the Troops Fundraiser this July

Chicago Automobile Trade Association and USO Partner for 12th Year CHICAGO, June 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicagoland's new-car dealers are once again on a summertime mission to raise awareness and funds for local military and their families through the 12th annual Drive for the Troops fundraiser. Throughout the entire month of July, more than 80 dealerships across the area will join in hosting online fundraisers and onsite events at their dealerships to benefit the USO. Since the program's inception, Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA) dealers have rallied to raise more than $1.2 million to support USO programs and services. "Rallying behind our local service members and their families is something that continues to unite our communities, and the USO remains an essential partner in that mission," said Ryan Kelly, Chicago Automobile Trade Association chairman. "Our local new-car dealers have shown time and again that they're not just in the business of selling cars—they're committed community leaders. The collective impact of this decade-long fundraiser has been remarkable, and we're thankful to everyone who continues to help drive its success." Kelly continued, "If you are looking for a way to give back this summer, we invite you to join in the fundraising efforts with your local new-car dealer by stopping by one of the many events taking place or making an online donation to the cause." "The continued support from hometown communities and local new-car dealerships has enabled the USO to make a meaningful impact on the lives of more than 300,000 service members and their families each year," said Christopher Schmidt, Executive Director at the USO. "Thanks to hundreds of programs, services, and our USO Centers across Illinois, we're able to stay connected with those who serve. Events like Drive for the Troops are a powerful example of neighbors coming together to support one another, and attending your local dealership's fundraiser this July or donating online is a fantastic way to get involved." 2 Vikings veterans whose roles will be pushed by rookies in 2025

The post 2 Vikings veterans whose roles will be pushed by rookies in 2025 appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Minnesota Vikings were so close to having a remarkable season in 2024. They started the season with five straight victories, and after a pair of losses they came through with a nine-game winning streak. Advertisement The Vikings were 14-2 going into their regular season finale against the powerful Detroit Lions. A win in that game for the Vikes would have given them the top spot in the NFC North and the overall No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs. It was not to be and it really wasn't close. The Vikings offensive line did not hold up against the Lions and quarterback Sam Bradford felt the pressure of the moment and the heat from the Detroit pass rush. The Vikings lost that game by a 31-9 margin and were shunted to the Wild Card round of the playoffs. They lost that game to the Los Angeles Rams by a 27-9 score and their dream season came to a stunning end. The Vikings have spent much of the offseason attempting to amend the weakness on the offensive line. They added center Ryan Kelly and guard Will Fries from the Indianapolis Colts during free agency and they drafted guard Donovan Jackson with the 25th pick in the first round. Advertisement The Vikings are happy with offensive tackles Christian Darrisaw and Brian O'Neill. That duo is considered one of the best in the league at their respective positions. Jackson has the characteristics the Vikings are looking for at guard The Vikings are hoping that Jackson will be good enough to take the starting position away from left guard Blake Brandel. Jackson proved to be a a versatile and impactful offensive lineman for the national champion Ohio State Buckeyes, and head coach Kevin O'Connell knows that the Vikings have a player who will battle on every snap. Brandel is a four-year veteran who has started every game the past two years and has performed at an above average level. However, he did not distinguish himself against elite opponents, and if the Vikings are going to be more than a strong regular-season team, they need outstanding guard play against the best opponents. Advertisement Jackson appears to have all the tools needed to get there, but the question is whether he can get there in his rookie season. If he does win the starting job during training camp, he will have Darrisaw at left tackle on one side of him and Kelly on the other side. That should help him quite a bit, but he is going to have to be successful on his own. Jackson played left tackled during the Buckeyes' championship run. The 6-4, 315-pound Jackson is wide and powerful with polished footwork. He has an excellent hand punch that can stun defensive linemen. Jackson must show he has the flexibility to man the guard spot, but he plays with a sense of leverage and has wonderful mobility. Those are the key reasons the Vikings believe in him. He will clearly push Brandel for the starting left guard position. Oscar Chapman will push Ryan Wright for the punting position Mandatory Credit: John Reed-Imagn Images The Vikings were not overly thrilled with the punting job done by Ryan Wright last season. He had a decent 46.5-yard average but just a 40.6-net-yard average. He had one punt block, he had 27 punts inside the 20 and five touchbacks. Advertisement This was not a bad year, but the Vikings are hoping that rookie free agent Oscar Chapman can do a better job. Chapman is a rookie from Adelaide, South Australia, who comes to the Vikings via the free agency route from Auburn. Chapman punted for five seasons at Auburn and he had his best season in 2023 when he punted 61 times and had a 44.6-yard average. He was nearly as good in 2021 when he average 44.2 yards on 57 punts. He was not quite as decisive last year as he averaged 42.5 yards on 41 punts last year. The Vikings like what they see from Chapman because he can get his punts away quickly. He should have a better-than-even chance of beating out Wright for the punting position.

Brian Flores still finds joy running the Vikings defense after being passed over for head coach jobs

EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings were in full-team drills during minicamp on Thursday, when an unexpected pre-snap alignment by the defense prompted new center Ryan Kelly to ask coach Kevin O'Connell about the call he should make for blocking that play. 'Your guess is as good as mine,' O'Connell told Kelly, as he later recounted to reporters. 'I've got no idea what they're doing over there.'
