WR Jude Hall commits to Memphis football, becomes top-rated recruit in Tigers' 2026 class
Memphis football is adding some speed to its 2026 recruiting class. Jude Hall — a 3-star wide receiver from Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, South Carolina — announced his commitment to the Tigers on June 21. He is on an official visit to Memphis this weekend. Advertisement Hall was previously committed to Duke. He has offers from several Power 4 conference schools, including South Carolina. Hall made 57 catches for 795 yards and five touchdowns in 2024. He's also a state champion in the 400 meter hurdles. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Hall becomes the top-rated recruit in Memphis' 2026 class, according to 247Sports. The Tigers came into Saturday with the No. 67-ranked recruiting class in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite. That's second in the AAC behind only South Florida. Hall will join a Memphis receiver room that has undergone plenty of change in the past year. Stalwarts Roc Taylor, Demeer Blankumsee and Koby Drake are gone, so there are lots of spots up for grabs heading into the 2025 season. That could be the case in 2026 as well. Memphis kicks off its 2025 season on Aug. 30 against Chattanooga. Advertisement Reach sports writer Jonah Dylan at or on X @thejonahdylan. Conference Realignment Tracker: Memphis Offers $200 Million To Big 12
MEMPHIS, TN - NOVEMBER 6: Ryan Silverfield, head coach of the Memphis Tigers leads his team on the ... More field against the SMU Mustangs on November 6, 2021 at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis defeated SMU 28-25. (Photo by) Memphis proposed an offer to the Big 12 that is expected to be as high as $200 million over the next five years, Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger reported. Despite the aggressive approach from the university to leave the American Conference, a quick entrance might not be that simple. Conference expansion requires the support of a super majority of the league's presidents or chancellors, or 12 of the 16. According to the report, there is not enough league-wide support at the moment as Big 12 officials continue to explore the proposal. Memphis president Bill Hardgrave spent more than a year planning the proposal and took meetings with administrators in Big 12 programs. Money is expected to come through sponsor commitments from Memphis-affiliated corporate partners, in addition to a plan to forego the Big 12's revenue distribution for at least the next five years. The Tigers were on the outside looking in during a recent round of conference realignment when the Big 12 snagged Cincinnati, UCF, Houston and BYU from the American. Memphis was certainly in consideration at that time, but the conference leaders ultimately decided to pass on adding the Tigers. Even though there does not seem to be enough support for Memphis to join the Power 4 status, conference realignment moves quickly. Memphis received significant investments from sponsors like FedEx, Lowe's and AutoZone as it continues to raise money and make a move. The report stated an exit fee from the American is expected to be at least $25 million. If Memphis gets its wish, it would leave the American with 13 teams. Meanwhile, the Big 12 would bolster its conference size to 17 programs. Conference Realignment Tracker In case you need a quick refresher on the conference realignment coming over the next few years, here's what's ahead for FBS movement.

CBS Sports shares early bowl projection for Auburn
CBS Sports shares early bowl projection for Auburn CBS Sports expects the Auburn Tigers to return to bowl season in 2025 after missing out last year. After missing out on bowl season last year, the Auburn Tigers are expected to be in the mix to secure a postseason destination in 2025. CBS Sports recently revealed their early bowl projections, which included the Auburn Tigers. CBS projects Auburn to head to Florida for bowl season to meet up with the Memphis Tigers in the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl, which will take place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida in December. The Gasparilla Bowl, which has also been historically known as the St. Petersburg Bowl and the Beef O'Brady's Bowl, has been played before Christmas since 2017. Last season, Florida defeated Tulane, 33-8, in the game that took place on Dec. 20. Auburn hopes to re-write its bowl history in 2025 After piecing together its longest bowl streak in program history by playing in nine-consecutive postseason games from 2013-21, Auburn has missed postseason play in two of the last three seasons. Auburn's last bowl win came in 2018 when it defeated Purdue in the Music City Bowl, 63-14. Since then, Auburn has lost four-straight bowl games, including its most recent appearance in 2023 when it lost 31-13 to Maryland in the Music City Bowl. Auburn is also looking to end a bleak streak in which they have lost seven games in each of the last four seasons. Last year, Auburn finished 5-7 with a 2-6 mark in SEC play. Auburn started the season with a 2-5 record before winning three of its last five games. The Memphis Tigers could be a quality bowl opponent for Auburn Auburn's projected bowl opponent, Memphis, won 11 games last season. The Tigers have won four bowl games in five seasons under head coach Ryan Silverfield, which includes a three-game streak. Memphis is projected to be another strong contender in the American Athletic Conference this season alongside Tulane, USF, and Navy. Gasparilla Bowl history If this projection were to hold, it would be Auburn's first-ever appearance in the Gasparilla Bowl and the second for Memphis. Memphis lost the inaugural Gasparilla Bowl to USF in 2008, 41-14.
