Stray Kids launch K-pop takeover at Oracle Park in San Francisco

The streets around Oracle Park morphed into a mini K-pop bazaar ahead of South Korean boy band Stray Kids' first stadium concert in the Bay Area. Thousands of fervent fans began converging on the home of the San Francisco Giants well before sunrise on Wednesday, May 28, camping out for a chance to see the global K-pop sensation perform later tonight. Many even lined up for hours to secure official merchandise at Bar Via, a nearby cocktail lounge, which was transformed into a pop-up shop selling band gear. The concert, part of Stray Kids' DominAte world tour, is expected to be a more than two-hour spectacle featuring fireworks, synchronized choreography and a 30-song set list. The tour is in support of Stray Kids' latest album, 'Skzhop Hiptape,' released in December. It kicked off with a historic performance at Seattle's T-Mobile Park on Saturday, May 24, where the group became the first K-pop act to sell out the stadium. 'A lot of Stray Kids' songs felt like an all-out assault on the senses,' the Seattle Times noted of their T-Mobile Park show, which attracted 41,000 attendees. Known for their genre-blending music and high-energy performances, Stray Kids have become one of the most innovative acts in K-pop, with a discography that seamlessly fuses hip-hop, electronic dance music and rock. Members Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and I.N are all deeply involved in the creative process, contributing to the production and songwriting of their tracks. Since their last Bay Area performance in 2022, Stray Kids have continued to rack up accolades for their musical achievements. Their 2023 record '5-Star' earned Top K-pop Album honors at the Billboard Music Awards and best K-pop at the 2023 MTV VMAs. The album, which sold more than 4.6 million copies in its first week, shattered K-pop records and cemented their status as global superstars. In 2024, Stray Kids won group of the year at the People's Choice Awards and K-pop album of the year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. Stray Kids will continue their North American tour through June before heading to Europe in July. The entire tour expected to draw more than 2.2 million fans worldwide.
