Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer has appealed to farmers to focus more on cultivating pulses and oilseeds, thereby reducing their imports and contributing to the nutritional security of the country. Participating in the 57th Convocation of Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), at Atkur village in Krishna district on Thursday (July 24, 2025), the Governor pointed out that Andhra Pradesh was a leading performer with a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 8.8% in agriculture and allied sectors during the 2024-25 fiscal year. India has achieved a record food grain production of 353.95 million tonnes in 2024, and the country's agricultural commodities are reaching several countries across the globe, he said. He stressed the need for maintaining nutritional security and food safety, while increasing the production of food grains. Former Special Chief Secretary to Government of Punjab, A. Venu Prasad, who was the chief guest for the programme and an alumnus of ANGRAU, Bapatla, said the institute helped him achieving to greater heights in career. 'ANGRAU, located at Lam in Guntur district, is competing with top institutes in the country. Students should select the courses of their choice and excel in the field,' Mr. Venu Prasad said. Later, the Governor and the chief guest awarded degrees and awards to the meritorious students and the staff. ANGRAU Vice-Chancellor R. Sarada Jayalakshmi Devi said that established in 1964, the university had so far awarded degrees to 48,352 students, including 36,664 undergraduates, 11,688 post graduates and researchers. 'The university has released 25 new varieties of crops during 2023-24 fiscal year, of which nine were at the State level and 16 at the national level,' Ms. Jayalakshmi Devi said. Kaikalur MLA Kamineni Srinivas, Krishna district in-charge Collector Geetanjali Sharma, ANGRAU Registrar G. Ramachandra Rao were among the dignitaries who participated in the programme.

Governor S. Abdul Nazeer will attend the 57th Annual Convocation of Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) at Atkur village in Unguturu mandal of Krishna district on July 24 (Thursday). Mr. Abdul Nazeer, who is also the Chancellor of the university, will present gold medals and awards to meritorious students and faculty members, and deliver the convocation address. University Vice-Chancellor R. Sarada Jayalakshmi Devi, Registrar G. Ramachandra Rao, and other faculty and staff will participate in the event. In preparation for the Governor's visit, Krishna district in-charge Collector Geetanjali Sharma, Additional Superintendent of Police Satyanarayana, and other officials inspected the venue and reviewed the arrangements, officials said in a release.

A.P. Governor exhorts students to be prepared for Quantum Valley

Governor S. Abdul Nazeer has exhorted the students to be prepared for India's first full-stack Quantum Valley that is set to be established in Amaravati by 2026. The Quantum Valley, being set up by the Andhra Pradesh government under the National Quantum Mission, plans to integrate quantum computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and sustainable technologies. Delivering the XIth Convocational address of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU-Kakinada) on Friday at the university campus, Mr. Nazeer said, 'The Quantum Valley aims to foster innovation, high-end employment and environmental sustainability in Amaravati. The Valley will integrate quantum computing, AI, semiconductor research, defence innovation, fostering high-end employment and frontier technological capability'. State's goal 'The Valley will place the State at the forefront of quantum and deep technology advancement in Asia. The project aligns with Amaravati's goal of becoming the world's first city powered entirely by renewable energy using solar, wind, and hydro energy sources efficiently,' the Governor said. On the role of higher educational institutes, Mr. Nazeer said, 'The universities today must focus on emerging technologies such as Quantum technology, Artificial Intelligence, IOT, 5G e-mobility, renewable energy, logistics, robotics and bio and nano technologies'. He further advocated for a culture of innovation, critical thinking and hands-on experience that should replace the root learning, while stressing that teaching methods must be modernised. Emphasizing that the research must become the heartbeat of the universities, the Governor directed the higher educational institutions to prioritise original and impactful research that addresses the challenges of the society. 'Beyond academics, higher education must prepare students to thrive in the digital era, focusing on ethics and skill integration', the Governor said. Boston Group Chairman K. Subramanyam in his address told the students that the world is open to them and it is up to them to take an advantage of it as it is the exciting time for India that is making giant strides in space, AI and defence research. The Chairman was conferred with the Honoris Causa by Governor Mr. Abdul Nazeer. As many as 99 research scholars received Ph.D degrees during the XIth convocation. JNTU-Kakinada Vice-Chancellor P.S.R.K. Prasad shared the university's progress during his address.

Giving the details of the convocation programme, the Vice chancellor Prof CSRK Prasad to media persons at the VC conference hall at the University here today said that Kota Subrahmanyam (Subu Kota) an NRI and chairman of the Boston Group, North Bord, MA, USA would attend as the chief guest-cum- orator. The Governor will confer the Honorary doctorate (Honorius Causa) on Subu Kota during the convocation. The Vice chancellor further said that about 99 Research scholars would be presented their Ph. D degrees . Endowment awards and Gold medals also would be presented to meritorious students .Giving the break- up of the degrees to be presented for the students passed out during 2023-2024 ,Vice chancellor Prasad said that 41,258 B. Tech degrees,2081 MBA,1115 MCA,458 M. Pharmacy, 115 BBA, 274 Pharma.D, 83 B. Arch, and 40 Gold medals and Endowment awards thus totaling 50979 degrees altogether will be presented .He said the invitees include Executive council members, former vice chancellors, Eminent personalities, Educationists, Officials of Higher education, district officials, parents of the students.
