Kakinada GGH gets an upgrade with medical equipment, facilities
MLC Karri Padmasri and District Collector S. Shan Mohan on Tuesday inaugurated medical equipment and infrastructure facilities worth ₹.78.77 lakh at the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Kakinada City. The medical equipment and infrastructure facilities are funded under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the ONGC, University of Biofuels Private Limited, Gemini Edible Oil company, all operating from Kakinada. The facilities include preventive oncology shed, nuero out-patient shed, and blood collection shed. GGH superintendent Dr. Lavanya Kumari, Rangaraya Medical College principal Dr. A. Vishnu Vardhan and representatives of the respective companies were present.

Army recruitment, U-19 hockey tournament in Kakinada
Kakinada District Collector S. Shan Mohan on Friday stated that the Indian Army recruitment would be held between August 3 and 20 at the District Sports Authority grounds. Aspirants from Coastal Andhra Pradesh region are eligible to participate in the recruitment. At the same venue, Under-19 Hockey Tournament will also be held from August 1. All the basic amenities and facilities are being provided to host both the events, said Mr. Shan Mohan.

Godavari Kalakshetra name restored after four years
The name of Kakinada's cultural centre in the heart of the city has been officially restored after four years, and will soon be open to the public. Kakinada Municipal Corporation Special Officer and District Collector S. Shan Mohan confirmed the news in an official statement issued on July 8 said: 'The Municipal Council's proposal to restore the name of 'Godavari Kalakshetra' has been approved. The appeal by the public in this regard has also been considered.' The cultural centre will now be known as Godavari Kalakshetra. Following COVID-19, the Kakinada Municipal Council had passed a resolution to rename the cultural centre after YSRCP Kakinada city president Ragireddi Venkata Jayaram Kumar alias Frooti Kumar, who died of Covid-19 . The ₹20 crore cultural centre was developed by the Kakinada Smart City Corporation under the Smart City Mission. The three-floor centre, includes a 1,200-seat theatre, art galleries, and venues for various cultural, academic and traditional performances. Senior BJP leaders Y. Malakondiah and Duvvuri Subramanyam lauded the decision to restore the Godavari Kalakshetra, noting that the name shares an association with River Godavari.

Pawan Kalyan to perform bhumi puja for 100-bed hospital in Pithapuram
Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan will perform bhumi puja for the construction of a 100-bed Area Hospital in Pithapuram on April 25. Kakinada District Collector S. Shan Mohan said: 'During his one-day visit to Pithapuram, Mr. Pawan Kalyan will interact with locals at the Racha Banda programme and distribute farm implements to farmers.'
