Heerenveen playmaker wanted by unknown English club: Frisians reject multiple advances
As per Bart Kruijt of Voetbal International, Levi Smans is attracting serious interest from an English Championship club. Said club has even made several bids for the midfielder, but SC Heerenveen aren't eager to sign off on a move. The 22-year-old Smans transferred to Heerenveen last year from VVV-Venlo, and in his first Eredivisie season, he scored three goals and provided four assists. These exploits caught the eye of a club in England's second tier. This team's identity is still unknown. It appears that a potential transfer has been in the works for weeks. Heerenveen has received and rejected several bids for Smans. According to sources, the latest offer from England was around €3.5 million. It is unknown how much Heerenveen has in mind for Smans, who cost €350,000 a year ago. His contract in Friesland runs until the summer of 2028. Heerenveen's technical manager Johan Hansma has confirmed the English interest. 'It's true there's interest, but we'd like to keep Levi with the team. If we do sell him, it has to be an offer we simply can't refuse.' GBeNeFN | Max Bradfield

Ajax loan Van Axel Dongen to SC Heerenveen
As Voetbal International previously reported, Ajax's Amourricho van Axel Dongen will play for SC Heerenveen next season. Ajax are letting the 20-year-old winger leave on loan. This is a loan deal without an option to buy, meaning he will return to Amsterdam next summer. Advertisement Heerenveen had been on Van Axel Dongen's trail for some time. He had several conversations with manager Robin Veldman, who previously worked with him during his time as a youth coach at Ajax. Veldman hopes to get Van Axel Dongen, whose contract with Ajax runs until the summer of 2027, back on track in Friesland after injuries have previously blighted his progress. 'Loaning Amourricho to SC Heerenveen is a good deal for all parties,' said technical director Alex Kroes on the club website on Tuesday evening. 'The most important thing is that Amourricho will get playing time at the highest level. This arrangement is a great opportunity and will help him take the next step in his development.' Heerenveen's technical manager Johan Hansma said of the move, 'With Amourricho, we add speed, creativity, and depth to our squad. He's a two-footed winger who can play on either flank. We know he hasn't played much due to injuries. Together with the coaching staff, we'll do everything we can to get him back to match fitness.' GBeNeFN | Max Bradfield

Eredivisie End of Season Review: SC Heerenveen
Final Position: 9th Overview: Robin Veldman was able to steer SC Heerenveen into a play-off spot after the departure of Robin van Persie and thanks to Go Ahead Eagles cup victory. They were dismantled by AZ Alkmaar, a result which ended their slim chances of European football this season. However, it was an improvement on the 11th place finish the side achieved in the Eredivisie last season. At home, the side were very strong, losing only once in 17 games, the fourth best record in the league. This was a contrast to an away record that was the league worst, with just seven points from 17 games. It is clear that the side need a better approach to away games next season. Player of the season: Jacob Trenskow 24-year-old Danish winger Jacob Trenskow had a fantastic first season in the Eredivisie. The winger joined in the summer from Swedish side Kalmar and finished with seven goals and three assists in 27 games. There is certainly still areas of his game he needs to improve next season, but a year of top flight Dutch football should have benefited him. Young Player of the Season: Oliver Braude Norweigian 21-year-old Oliver Braude, also had a strong season. The youngster built on a breakout season last year with 36 appearances and two assists from left-back. He won 69% of his tackles and 61% of his duels overall. The defender was also decent going forward, completing just under 56% of his attempted dribbles. Summer needs: Someone who can hit double figures in goals. Ion Nicolaescu had moments, with eight goals in 25 games, and 12 goals overall if we include cup fixtures. If the Moldovan striker can build on that, it could go a long way to helping the side reach the play-offs again next season. They also need to look at how to win on the road, which may be tactical adjustments or a different form of preparation for away fixtures. Grade: B GBeNeFN | Ben Jackson
