Toray unit debuts advanced chip analysis services in US

TOKYO -- A subsidiary of Japanese chemical and fiber supplier Toray Industries is bringing its unique chip analysis capabilities to the U.S., pursuing demand as Washington seeks greater semiconductor production in response to tensions with China.
Dozens of cutting-edge analytical devices fill the offices at Toray Research Center's lab in Otsu, a city near Kyoto. One machine can cost 1 billion yen ($6.9 million).
