Oasis fans at Heaton Park gigs won't waste as much cash on pints as Cardiff fans

Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher will be performing five epic homecoming concerts at Heaton Park in Manchester between July 11 and 20 – with the price of a pint now revealed Fans of Oasis in Manchester are gearing up for their Heaton Park gigs, taking part over the next week over five dates. Liam and Noel Gallagher performed their first concerts after 16 years in Cardiff last weekend, much to the delight of thousands of longtime fans who waited years for a reunion between the previously warring brothers. During their two nights in Cardiff, fans were fuming over the price of pints. One pint set fans back £8.20 and a four-pint jug set fans back £31, forcing fans to pre-drink at pubs near the stadium. However, there is a huge difference in drink prices in Manchester as fans descend on the city for the Heaton Park concerts, which has Cast and Richard Ashcroft opening for the brothers. ‌ ‌ It has now been confirmed that a pint of lager and cider will be priced at £6.50, saving fans almost £2. Merchandise pricing was also recently revealed, with key rings costing £10, a poster going for £40, and a T-shirt costing £40. Oasis mania is already sweeping the city with Noel being pictured leaving Gary Neville's Stock Exchange hotel, Liam's voice becoming the soundtrack to the tram system and fans packing out pubs and snapping up merchandise as they revel in the long-awaited Gallagher homecoming. Hours before the gig, the band issued a severe weather warning to fans travelling in. They urged concert goers to be prepared for 'extreme heat and sun.' ‌ "Please prepare for extreme sun and heat. Wear sun screen. Stay hydrated - at the concert and when travelling. Wear a (bucket) hat. Where possible stay in the shade. Look after yourselves and each other," they said on social media. The temperature in Heaton Park is currently 28 degrees. Ahead of their five sold-out performances between 11-20 July at Manchester's Heaton Park, promoters SJM also posted a warning to fans as the UK braces for yet another heatwave. ‌ Oasis: What's Their Story? An unofficial celebration magazine on sale now! A few simple words on social media on August 27 in 2024 were enough to spark pandemonium among Oasis fans and were the catalyst for the most eagerly awaited UK gigs of all time. This special unofficial magazine, available to order here, marks the reunion and honours the band both now and down the years with our incredible archive of photos and interviews - and with exclusive reviews and photographs of their first show! 'With a very hot weather forecast on both Friday and Saturday, please stay hydrated, you will be permitted to bring a sealed bottle of water up to 500ml. This must be collapsible plastic,' SJM said in a statement. ‌ 'Solid plastic, metal etc containers will not be permitted on the grounds of safety. Bottles with broken seals will be emptied. There is free water to refill your bottle on site.' The statement added: 'Wear sunscreen, you will be permitted to bring in a small bottle 200ml or under and protect yourself from the sun overall/wear a hat; we know the legendary bucket hat will be making an appearance, so you'll fit right in! Look after yourself and those around you.'

Parent living near Oasis gig venue demands dress code to protect 'moral decency'

A 'concerned resident' has suggested that 'minimum dress standards' and 'buffer zones' be established for the upcoming Oasis reunion concerts at Heaton Park in Manchester to tackle issues of 'indecent exposure'. The band's highly anticipated reunion tour is set to hit the city in just under two weeks. Oasis will mark their first performance in 16 years with a gig in Cardiff on Friday (July 4) night on a tour that also takes in two dates at Croke Park on August 16 and 17. However, the gigs have stirred up mixed feelings among the residents of Prestwich and Blackley, the suburban areas neighbouring Heaton Park. Rachel Varley, a mother of three, expressed her frustration last month, saying: "I don't think it's fair on residents. I just think it's really poor to put such a big event on in such a family residential area. Why is it not in an arena?". Others are more accommodating of the influx of music enthusiasts, which is a regular occurrence due to the annual Parklife festival in June. Many locals believe the Oasis event won't pose any new challenges, reports the Manchester Evening News. Zainab Nawaz, 19, said: "It happens every year, you get used to it. It's always packed. It's a bit of an inconvenience [on the road] but other than that, we live in front of a big park, what do you expect?" An unnamed local, who said they live near the park, has now urged Manchester council and concert promoters SJM to enforce strict rules at the Oasis shows to combat what they describe as 'inappropriate dress and indecent exposure'. In an email sent to Manchester council, Greater Manchester Police, and local councillors, the resident stated: "As a parent/resident, I find it deeply offensive, inappropriate, and harmful for impressionable young minds to be exposed to this without choice. "This is not a matter of taste or fashion - it is a matter of basic public standards, community respect, and moral decency in shared spaces. I am therefore asking the Council and event organizers to: Enforce a minimum dress code standard within the surrounding public areas of Heaton Park (especially outside festival gates); Consider buffer zones or event fencing that reduces direct visibility of attendees from public walkways and streets; Engage in public consultation with local families and schools who are impacted by the exposure of this content; Consider the long-term damage to Heaton Park's reputation as a safe, family-friendly environment. "It should not be acceptable for children walking near their homes, schools, or parks to witness what would be considered indecent exposure in any other situation - all under the umbrella of 'festival culture'." It's understood Manchester council lacks the authority to enforce a dress code at the highly anticipated shows, despite being the organisation which owns Heaton Park. The attire of the Oasis fans is also anticipated to be quite distinct, with parka coats, bucket hats, and Adidas Gazelle trainers predicted to be the fashion choice of the day, as opposed to skin-tight fluorescent leotards. Both Manchester council and SJM have been contacted for comment. Tickets for the Oasis reunion sold out across all venues due to huge demand when they went online earlier in the year. However, there are still several options available for fans trying to snag a last-minute spot. Limited last-minute tickets can be bought from the official Ticketmaster resale site, where fans who can no longer go sell their seats, although these tend to go into and out of stock quickly. Elsewhere, resale sites like Viagogo, Vivid Seats, StubHub and Twickets are selling tickets for various dates, although fans should always bear in mind that many official sites, such as Ticketmaster and Live Nation, discourage the purchase of resale tickets. Meanwhile Seat Unique has some VIP tickets available offering a host of additional perks alongside access to the gig. Internal security issues related to Pakistan, illegal immigration from Bangladesh and the India-US trade tariff deal are likely to be discussed at the crucial meeting of the RSS regional office-bearers here. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, along with the top brass of the Sangh, will attend this three-day meeting starting July 4. The J. M. Smucker Slides 12% in a Month: How to Play SJM Stock

The J. M. Smucker Company SJM has seen its shares plunge 12.3% over the past month, significantly underperforming the industry's modest 1% decline and the S&P 500's 4.1% growth. The stock also lagged behind the broader Zacks Consumer Staples sector, which fell 2% during the same period. This sharp pullback reflects a mix of broader macroeconomic challenges and company-specific J.M. Smucker also underperformed some of its peers, such as The Hershey Company HSY, McCormick & Company, Incorporated MKC and General Mills, Inc. GIS. Shares of Hershey and McCormick have gained 2.8% and 3.2%, respectively. In contrast, General Mills saw its stock decline 4.3% in the past remain divided on whether The J.M. Smucker is poised for further downside or approaching a potential rebound. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research As of the last trading session, SJM closed at $98.20, near its 52-week low of $93.30, attained on June 18, 2025. The J.M. Smucker stock is trading below critical technical thresholds, including its 50 and 200-day moving averages. SJM is currently trading at a discount to both its historical averages and industry peers, largely due to its recent share underperformance. The stock's forward 12-month P/E ratio stands at 10.44, below its one-year median of 11.07 and well below the industry average of 15.85. While the lower valuation may reflect perceived risks, it also underscores the market's cautious sentiment, especially when compared to peers like Hershey, McCormick, and General Mills, which are trading at significantly higher multiples of 27.02X, 23.81X and 13.94X, respectively. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research The J.M. Smucker is contending with a series of strategic and operational headwinds, the most pressing of which centers on its underperforming Sweet Baked Snacks segment, led by the Hostess brand. In the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025, the segment reported a 14% decline in comparable sales, driven by sluggish consumer demand amid persistent inflation and diminished discretionary income. These external pressures were compounded by internal missteps in distribution, merchandising, and execution, further weighing on significant challenge is the surge in green coffee prices, which have reached record highs. This inflationary trend forced SJM to implement multiple price increases across its coffee portfolio. While the company managed to preserve margins through responsible pricing, it faces an increasing risk of volume loss due to demand elasticity. This issue is further complicated by tariffs on imported green coffee, mainly sourced from Brazil and Vietnam, adding further margin J.M. Smucker's pet food segment also showed signs of stress. Net sales declined 13%, hit by retailer inventory reductions and weak demand for dog snacks. Although Meow Mix showed some resilience, the broader category remains soft as consumers cut back on discretionary faces exposure to global trade tensions, particularly via tariffs and regulatory changes. Though much of its production is U.S.-based, key inputs like green coffee are subject to import duties. As a result, the company is actively exploring alternative sourcing and pricing strategies to mitigate these risks. Nevertheless, external volatility remains a structural ahead, the company has issued a cautious outlook for fiscal 2026. SJM expects adjusted earnings in the range of $8.50 to $9.50 for the full year, which includes material headwinds from coffee elasticity, increased marketing investments, tariff impacts, and continued weakness in the Sweet Baked Snacks segment. Notably, in the first quarter of fiscal 2026, adjusted earnings are expected to decline approximately 25% year over year, reinforcing concerns about near-term margin pressure. Reflecting cautious sentiment around The J.M. Smucker, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for earnings per share (EPS) has seen downward revisions. Over the past seven days, the consensus estimate has declined for the current quarter by 10 cents to $9.28 per share and fiscal year by 15 cents to $9.99 per share. (Find the latest EPS estimates and surprises on Zacks Earnings Calendar.) Image Source: Zacks Investment Research The J.M. Smucker Company is navigating a difficult environment marked by weak consumer demand, rising commodity costs, tariff headwinds, and underperformance in key segments, such as sweet baked snacks and pet food. These challenges have been compounded by internal execution issues and downward revisions to earnings estimates, signaling growing investor concern. The stock has also fallen below key technical support levels, reflecting continued bearish sentiment. With limited near-term growth catalysts and ongoing margin pressures, SJM's outlook remains unfavorable. Investors may be better served by exploring more stable opportunities. India-US BTA: Sangh affiliates draw red line over GM crops, dairy products

Affiliates of the Sangh Parivar have said the India-United States bilateral trade agreement (BTA) is unlikely to happen if America continues to be 'stubborn' about securing market access for genetically modified (GM) crops, dairy products, relaxed regulations on medical devices, and data localisation. The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) and Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) have flagged the issue that concessions to the United States (US) in the agriculture sector, including dairy products, will have ramifications for the country's food security. The parivar has pointed to the efforts by US Senator Lindsey Graham to move a Bill that envisages steep economic penalties for India, and also China, for importing Russian oil. The Bill could propose a 500 per cent tariff on imports from countries not supporting Ukraine. On Monday, SJM National Co-Convenor Ashwani Mahajan posted on X: 'No matter what US President Donald Trump says, there cannot be a trade deal with the US because India cannot give what America is asking for.' Mahajan said India could not possibly give ground on market access to America's genetically modified crops and other agricultural products. 'How can the country's agriculture and small industries be sacrificed in front of America's stubbornness,' Mahajan said. India cannot allow 'non-vegetarian milk and dairy', he said, adding that there could not be any agreement that compromised the interests of India's farmers and dairy. Talking to Business Standard, Mahajan said the SJM had opposed the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) because it would have compromised the interests of India's farmers. 'India's farmers will be unable to compete with the US, given the subsidies that the latter provides its farmers. What if India's farmers stop producing?' Mahajan asked. Earlier this month, the BKS had slammed the NITI Aayog for its working paper that recommended increasing agricultural trade between India and the US. The BKS accused the Aayog of 'kneeling in the tariff war with the US'. In a post on X on Sunday, Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary in charge communications, wondered why the NITI Aayog working paper, titled 'Promoting India-US Agricultural Trade Under the New US Trade Regime', and issued on May 30, was withdrawn. 'It got reported and also invited some critical comments. Now the Working Paper has gone missing from the Aayog's website. It has reportedly been withdrawn. Wonder why?' he asked. The paper has been taken off the Aayog's website since June 23. Some farmer groups such the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Apolitical) said it was because of them and other peasant organisations. In a statement, BKS All India General Secretary Mohini Mohan Mishra said the working paper had recommended that India, under the proposed BTA, open up its market for rice, pepper, soybean oil, shrimp, tea, coffee, dairy products, poultry, apples, almonds, pistachios, corn, and GM soy products. Mishra said that doing so could risk the livelihoods of 700 million Indians dependent on agriculture. 'When the government is preparing to make the country self-reliant in oilseeds, then reducing the import duty on edible oil is a contradictory decision in itself,' Mishra said. Mishra said the advisors to the NITI Aayog should reconsider their recommendations. 'It is well known that in the US, GM soya and maize are used as animal feed and some amount of ethanol is produced from them. In such a situation, why is it suggested that the crop be imported?' he asked. The BKS leader said the government had formulated a policy to add 20 per cent ethanol to petrol and had already added 18.5 per cent ethanol. 'In such a situation, the suggestion to import American GM corn shows a conflict with the interests of farmers. Such unethical suggestions of the Ayog should be corrected immediately,' Mishra said, adding that the think tank bowing under pressure was not good for India. If the Aayog does not have faith in the country's capabilities, the government needs to review its working system, he said.
