2 plots of NRI sold with forged documents in Gurgaon, 7 handed 3 year jail term
Gurgaon: A city court has sentenced seven people to three years of imprisonment in a fraud case pertaining to two plots that belonged to an NRI. The plots in Palam Vihar Extension — each measuring 200 square yards and worth several crores — were fraudulently occupied and sold with the help of forged documents. The court said the accused were involved in a "deliberate and strategic fraud", manipulating legal documents to legitimise their possession of the plots. The accused forged special power of attorney and power of attorney documents for the property in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh to sell the land to third parties. Amarjeet Kaur, an NRI settled in the US, bought the plots in 1995. She was constantly monitoring the property directly or indirectly until 2005. Between 2005 and 2010, she could not visit them. A case was registered against eight persons at Palam Vihar police station under sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B of the IPC. The eighth accused, Rajpal, could not be traced and was declared a proclaimed offender in 2016. The sections are related to cheating, forging documents and criminal conspiracy. Public Prosecutor Poonam said during the investigation it was found that, on the basis of forged and fabricated special power of attorney and general power of attorney prepared in Jharkhand and MP, the plots were occupied by the accused. Counsel for the accused Pradeep Yadav argued the accused are innocent and are falsely implicated but failed to provide any evidence in support of the argument. Judicial Magistrate (Ist Class) Anjali Narwal, in her order on Wednesday, pointed out the mere fact of the alleged registration of the alleged SPA and GPA in Jharkhand and MP raises serious doubts about the execution and genuineness of these documents. There was no occasion for the complainant and accused to get power of attorney registered in Jharkhand when none of them are residents of Jharkhand and the property is in Gurgaon.

Saudi Arabia Urges World to Back Two-State Solution Conference's Final Document
The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, has endorsed the final document of the International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, on behalf of Saudi Arabia, France and countries leading the working groups. The Two-State Solution Conference's final document includes an agreement to work jointly to end the war in Gaza, reach a just, peaceful and lasting settlement for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the effective implementation of the two-state solution, and build a better future for Palestinians, Israelis, and all peoples of the region. On this occasion, the Saudi Foreign Minister said: 'These outcomes reflect comprehensive proposals across political, humanitarian, security, economic, legal, and strategic narrative tracks, and they form an integrated and actionable framework for implementing the two-state solution and achieving peace and security for all.' The endorsement took place at the conclusion of the conference's second day, held at the UN headquarters in New York under the joint chairmanship of Saudi Arabia and France, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). Saudi Arabia Grants Expat Workers 60 Days To Avoid Being Classified As Absconders
Expatriate workers in Saudi Arabia will now have 60 days to adjust their status before being classified as absconders, under new rules introduced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. The changes, implemented through the ministry's Qiwa platform, reshape how employers can report foreign workers as absent, part of a broader effort to formalise and digitise labour relations in the Kingdom. Under the revised system, an employer may file an absconding report only if the worker's residency permit, or Iqama, is valid for at least 60 days and the employee no longer has an active contract. Once a worker's status is changed to 'disconnected from work,' Qiwa gives them 60 days to either transfer to another employer, leave the country, or sign a new contract with their current company. If no action is taken within that period, the platform will automatically mark the worker as 'absent from work' and remove their name from the company's records, triggering notifications to both the Human Resources and Interior ministries. The system also now terminates contracts automatically once the notice period ends, regardless of whether the separation was initiated by the employer or the employee. Qiwa — a digital portal designed to streamline labour-related services — also provides free employment certificates. Current employees can download a salary certificate reflecting their status, while former employees can request a service certificate documenting previous roles. These official documents, the ministry says, are intended to strengthen résumés and improve job prospects in the Saudi labour market.

Saudi Arabia's Fossilised Forests Reveal Geological Wonders
RIYADH, July 31 (Bernama-SPA) -- The petrified tree trunks located about 40 kilometres east of Al-Ajalaiyah Centre in Al-Aflaj Governorate are remarkable geological formations formed over millions of years. According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) this fossilised forest has become a popular destination for visitors and desert enthusiasts. Scattered throughout the site are petrified trunks and branches embedded in a sedimentary layer, covered by strata from the late Permian period. These layers are distinct due to their dark brown, nearly black colour.
