19-year-old dies after shooting in Montréal-Nord
A 19-year-old who was shot in the borough of Montréal-Nord on Friday night has died. The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) says it is the 18th homicide on Montreal police territory since the start of 2025. The incident is being investigated by the SPVM's major crimes unit. Police received a call around 9:15 p.m. on Friday about a person who was injured by at least one bullet at the intersection of Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard and Matte Avenue. They found the victim on the ground at the scene, SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said. The young man was injured in the upper body and was in critical condition when he was taken to hospital, where he succumbed to injuries overnight. According to preliminary information, someone fired a gun in the victim's direction while he was in a vehicle, then ran away before police arrived. Police set up a security perimeter at the scene for investigators and met with witnesses. As of Saturday morning, police have not arrested anyone, Chèvrefils said.

Man found dead in tent in Montreal

The force says it received a call at 1 p.m. Wednesday about a body near the intersection of Larivière and Dufresne streets. Once on site, officers found the man inside a tent on a vacant lot near Parc Walter-Stewart. His identity remains unknown. A security perimeter has been established to allow investigators to understand the circumstances surrounding the death. The force says there is no reason to suggest foul play was involved. The file has been transferred to the coroner's office.

Shooting in Angrignon Park leaves one injured

Montreal police cracking down on stolen car network in ‘major' operation

Police say they are collaborating with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and searches are being carried out in Laval, the Island of Montreal and in Rosemère. According to the SPVM, nearly 100 officers are involved in the raids, which are 'the result of an investigation targeting an organized and structured criminal network involved in the export of stolen motor vehicles.' Police also received help from other forces, including Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), York Regional Police, Interpol, and Équité Association. The SPVM said they will provide an update on the raids later on Wednesday. This is a developing story that will be updated.
