Delhi University UG seat allotment begins today, BCom (Hons) in highest demand
Delhi University will release the first seat allotment list for UG admissions 2025 today at 5 pm. All admissions are being conducted through the CSAS UG 2025 portal, and those who get a seat in today's list must confirm acceptance by July DU admissions 2025 Phase 2 of the CSAS UG process was recently wrapped up. In this phase, students had to submit their course and college preferences. Before today's list, students were shown their simulated ranks on July 15, giving them time till July 16 to tweak their year, DU received its highest number of applications yet. It garnered the highest number of applications among the 69 DU-affiliated colleges for the 2025–26 academic session. This year, over 3.05 lakh candidates registered for DU admissions — the highest since CUET was introduced in 2022. What's Next in DU Admissions 2025? Students have until 11:59 PM on July 16 to make final edits to their CSAS preferences. According to data released by the university, BCom (Hons) received the highest number of preferences- 19.9 lakh followed by BCom (15.2 lakh), BA (Hons) English (12.2 lakh), BA (Hons) Political Science (9.9 lakh), and BA (Hons) History (7.7 lakh). Among first preferences, BCom (Hons) once again led with 48,336 entries. The CSAS (Common Seat Allocation System) portal, which opened on June 17 following CUET-UG results, saw 3.05 lakh signups. Of these, 2.39 lakh candidates submitted their program and college preferences, generating over 1.68 crore unique college-program combinations. SRCC received 38,795 first-choice preferences, followed by Hindu College (31,901), Hansraj College (15,902), St. Stephen's College (12,413), and Miranda House (11,403). New Delhi: The University of Delhi has got an overwhelming response to its undergraduate admissions this year, with Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) emerging as the most sought-after college and BCom (Hons) as the most preferred course among applicants. According to the data released by the university on Tuesday, DU has received over 3.05 lakh registrations through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), of which 2.39 lakh candidates have successfully submitted their college and programme preferences for admission to 71,642 undergraduate seats in 69 colleges and various departments. SRCC alone received 38,795 first-preference applications, followed by Hindu College with 31,901, Hansraj College (15,902), St Stephen's (12,413), and Miranda House (11,403). Political science (Hons) received 15,295, while BSc (Hons) zoology and DU's newly introduced BTech in mathematics and humanities drew 12,722 and 10,584 first preferences, respectively. The data indicates a strong interest in humanities-based programmes, with 58.89% of applicants opting for them. Commerce and science-based programmes were preferred by 20.89% and 20.22%, respectively. More than 16.8 million (1.68 crore) unique college-programme preferences were submitted on the portal, with one candidate listing 1,414 combinations out of a possible 1,549. On average, each candidate submitted 83 preferences. This year also saw a significant participation from underrepresented categories. As many as 512 students applied under the orphan quota (221 female, 291 male), while 7,243 students applied under the single-girl child quota. Gender-wise, female applicants outnumbered male applicants, comprising 53.06% of the total applications. The university released simulated ranks on candidates' dashboards, based on preferences submitted till July 14. Applicants will then be allowed to revise their choices till 11.59pm on July 16. The first allocation list will be declared on July 19. For performance-based programmes and supernumerary quotas like extracurricular activities (ECA) and sports, trials will begin from July 18 and July 25, respectively.
