Senior seriously injured in East Vancouver hit and run: police

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck Vancouver police are asking witnesses to come forward after a senior was seriously injured in a hit and run last week. In a news release Friday, the Vancouver Police Department said the victim was crossing Grandview Highway at Slocan Street just before 5:30 p.m. on July 11 when she was struck by a grey SUV. The driver didn't stop and continued driving east on Grandview Highway, according to police. The 70-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital with injuries police described as serious, but not life-threatening. 'We believe there were several bystanders who attempted to chase after the vehicle,' Const. Tania Visintin said, in the release. 'Investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision. We also want to speak to the driver of the grey SUV to determine what circumstances led up to the incident.' Woman struck and killed on 57 Freeway in San Dimas while running from deputies
An allegedly armed woman was struck and killed when she ran onto the 57 Freeway in San Dimas on Monday night while fleeing from authorities. It began when Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies were called to the area for reports of a woman armed with a gun, according to the department. When they approached her, she allegedly took off running and began trying to cross southbound lanes of the freeway near Arrow Highway, deputies said. A little after 10 p.m., she was struck by an SUV and despite attempted life-saving measures by deputies, she was declared dead at the scene. She has not yet been identified. California Highway Patrol officers issued a SigAlert for three southbound lanes due to the collision, which lasted until just after midnight.

Police search for group of migrants after vehicle collision near Canada-U.S. border
Police say they are looking for a group of migrants who were inside a vehicle that collided near the Canada-U.S. border in southern Quebec. Article content Authorities were called early Sunday to the scene in Hemmingford, Que., north of the New York border, where an SUV with two people collided with a vehicle carrying at least 10. Article content Article content The 48-year-old driver of the SUV was arrested for impaired driving. Article content Article content Provincial police spokesperson Sgt. Stephane Tremblay alleges the people in the second vehicle are believed to be migrants who illegally crossed the border from the United States. Article content He says four people from the migrants' vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while between six and eight fled the scene on foot.

Fuel and fertilizer spill over the roadway in Perth County crash

CTV NEWS/BARRIE Clean up is underway after fuel and fertilizer spilled across a Perth County roadway following a crash involving a tractor trailer. Emergency responders were called to Road 164 around 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The collision involved a tractor trailer and an SUV. During the crash, the tractor trailer rolled onto its side and spilled fuel and fertilizer over the roadway. Road 164 between Line 42 and Line 46 was closed. Police expected the closure to last for several hours. Both drivers were assessed at the crash site and one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Bicyclist killed after hitting vehicle in McKeesport
A bicyclist is dead after police said she lost control and hit a vehicle in McKeesport. Allegheny County police said first responders were called to Eden Park Boulevard shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday after a bicyclist and vehicle were involved in a crash on Eden Park Boulevard. Police said first responders found a woman dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation shows she was riding "erratically" off the side of the road, lost control and hit the side of an SUV. The SUV driver stayed on scene, police said. The name of the woman who was killed hasn't been released.
