By the time he stepped onto stage to the rapturous applause of thousands, there was little that was 'secret' about Lewis Capaldi's return set at Glastonbury festival. But that lack of mystique did nothing to diminish the emotion of the moment. Onlookers started chanting 'oh Lewis Capaldi' before he began playing the hit song Before You Go to kick-off his set, which had been listed as 'TBA' on the Glastonbury website. He told fans: 'It's so good to be back. I'm not going to say much up here today, because if I do, I think I will probably start crying. Second time's a charm on this one, everybody. 'It's just a short set today, but I just wanted to come and kind of finish what I couldn't finish the first time round.' The singer-songwriter from Bathgate engaged in an early back and forth with the crowd during his 35-minute set, duetting on the opening number's chorus. Capaldi finished his first song with a small smile, and then launched into singing Grace. That day, the crowd stepped in to sing-alone as Capaldi's voice faltered. But cutting a far healthier figure on Friday night, Capaldi put voice to the emotion of the moment. His new song Introducing his new song Survive, he became visibly emotional as he said: 'The last two years haven't been the best for me, it's been difficult at times. This has been my f****** goal, to get back here.' Ending his set with hit single Someone You Loved, Capaldi said: 'I really missed doing this for the last two years, it's been difficult at times to like think that maybe this wouldn't ever happen again. He added: 'My name's Lewis Capaldi and I'm f***** back baby.' New song Survive marked the singer's first new music for 16 months. The track reunites Capaldi with close collaborator Romans, who co-wrote the global megahit Someone You Loved, that became 10x Platinum earlier this year. Laura and John Watson, from Viewpark, don't drink or smoke. This, Laura says, leaves them money for their international animal rescue missions. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The 59-year-old rape crisis support worker 'always loved animals', but didn't grow up with pets. When the couple were on holiday in Hurghada, Egypt for John's birthday in 2009, 'the place was crawling with cats,' Laura said, 'and there was a wee kitten chasing us, which jumped into John's lap. Laura and John Watson, from Viewpark, Scotland, rescue cats from abroad. | Laura Watson / SWNS "We stroked it the whole night, ended up with it in the hotel room and we fed it. But even then, we never thought about rescue or how we could do that.' When the couple returned to their home just outside Glasgow, they took in a kitten that was being terrorised by a big alsatian dog. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The former nurse said: 'We bought a cat carrier on the way and we ended up with our first cat, Habibbi. Habibbi is used in Egypt to mean my sweetheart or my darling. From then we got the bug for it." In 2015, the couple took a trip to Marmaris, Turkey and 'we found Diamaris, who was in a terrible state. He was covered in bites and abscesses, his fur was missing, blood everywhere. 'The vet told us to put him back in the area we found him and John said, we'll never see him again. But that night, we go out to feed the cats and he was waiting for us. John said, Laura, we need to see if we can get him home. I'm thinking to myself, don't be bloody stupid. But we managed it. 'We had to plan the journey which was Fethiye, where he was being fostered, to Dalaman by car, then Dalaman to Istanbul by car, then Istanbul to Brussels by air. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad "The foster flew with him to Brussels, then drove from Brussels through the Eurotunnel up to Birmingham and I went down by train and picked him up. We travelled first class back to Glasgow! Diamaris never made a sound the whole journey. 'After Demaris, we knew that we could do that, we'd done a private rescue. It was just certain individuals and we just put it together and paid for it on our own." The cat-loving couple have spent almost £30,000 on what Laura calls their 'hobby', splashing £20,000 on flying 10 cats from Cyprus, one from Egypt and one from Turkey. Costs included renovating their garden so that sensitive kitten Marzouq 'could be kept from being Mr Houdini' and running away, Laura said. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad They rescued four cats from Scotland costing a total of £2,000, and have donated £5,000 to local and international rescues. 'And the bill for food is astronomical,' Laura adds, 'but I'm so lucky, John has the same values as myself. We don't drink, we don't smoke, we don't go out much - I'd rather be with my animals. And that's what I want to spend my money on." The couple take yearly trips to Cyprus to repair shelters, take part in 'trap, neuter and return' operations, and feed the cats. Laura said: 'People say, 'why do you rescue from abroad?'. I could go through Glasgow for miles and miles and never see a stray cat, walk through London and maybe see two or three. But you walk through Turkey, Egypt, Cyprus, you walk five minutes and see 20 cats in a terrible state. Mum reveals desperate sunlounger hogging attempt after getting up in the dark hours before pool opens

Plus, another holidaymaker was recently slammed after she said that it's 'normal' to bagsy sunbeds before breakfast and to hog the best spots SHELL NO Mum reveals desperate sunlounger hogging attempt after getting up in the dark hours before pool opens Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A MUM has shared how she got up at 6am to beat 'sunbed warriors' at a popular Spanish holiday hotspot. Venice Wallace, 29, has shared she got up in the early morning and in the dark, to try and reserve the best spot for family when on holiday. Unable to find a good bed for the first seven-days of her holiday, Venice then decided to set an alarm to be able to put her towels down and secure a bed at 6am. The property manager from Essex said: "We were there for 11 days and there were no rules around the sunbeds. "It was just a free for all and I've never experienced that. "Every morning, we'd get up quite early and I'd look over the balcony to see all the sunbeds covered in towels. "So, when we would go down at like eight or nine in the morning, we'd never get a front row seat to the kids' pool with the slides." Venice explained how when she then decided to get up early to secure some of the loungers, "there was no arguing or anything". She added: "I never would have done it, but now that I'm a mum I understand it. "You need to be able to see your children." The mum shared a video on TikTok - which was captioned "Venice 1, everybody else 0" - of the ordeal. Sunbed wars take place at hotel used in filming of tv show Benidorm Since positing, it has gained over 1.6million views. Some viewers praised Venice for her boldness. However, others were quick to judge and blamed her for being "part of the problem". One said: "I swear on my life that if I'm coming down to find 'reserved' sunbeds like this with no one in sight, I'm removing those towels. "Mad? Go see what the staff have to say about it." The 29-year-old added that she gained a lot of hate in the comments from Spanish locals, but as she speaks Spanish - she has since argued back in more recent videos. 4 She then decided she had had enough and got up early to reserve some loungers for her family Credit: SWNS She said: "A lot of Brits give us a bad name, so they were saying 'we hate the tourists', 'don't bother coming here!' "The population of Spain are attacking you in the comments but they don't know that you grew up in Spain and probably speak better than their ancestors." Another popular spot in Spain recently announced that it would be removing sunbeds and parasols from its top beaches. In and around Palma, more than 1,700 loungers are being removed by the government as locals have complained they cannot find sunbathing spots. The news follows a time where people are becoming increasingly frustrated over the amount of sun lounger space and availability. Often, videos are uploaded to social media showing holidaymakers battling for spots - or in Venice's case - rush to secure a spot at ridiculous hours. Plus, another holidaymaker was recently slammed after she said that it's 'normal' to bagsy sunbeds before breakfast and to hog the best spots.
