Rosmadi KOTA KINABALU (July 7): The Sabah state government remains committed to supporting local influencers, creative industry players and artists by providing them with a dedicated platform to showcase their talents to the world through the newly launched Chief Coordinating Officer of the Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat, Datuk Rosmadi Datu Sulai, said the government is always ready to engage with local content creators, industry stakeholders and artists to discuss issues and strengthen the state's creative ecosystem. 'The state government's doors are always open to meet influencers, industry players and local artists to discuss any arising matters and to further improve Sabah's creative industry,' he said in a statement today. He stressed that claims suggesting local creative talents are being sidelined are unfounded, as the government continues to prioritise their involvement in state initiatives like 'Sabahan talents, especially influencers, industry players and artists, are our priority to be featured on which will serve as a new streaming platform to highlight our people, voices and culture on the international stage,' he said. Rosmadi urged local creative talents to seize this 'golden opportunity' to share Sabah's stories, successes and unique attractions with audiences around the globe. 'This is the time for our local talents to fully utilise to tell Sabah's stories and showcase what makes our state special, attracting global viewers,' he said. He added that would not only open doors for local artists but also benefit Sabah's homegrown production companies, who can become content providers for the platform. 'With this platform, Sabahan production companies themselves can benefit greatly as content providers. Now is the time to produce high-quality works that can reach international audiences through he said. Launched by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor on 1 July, carries the slogan 'Cerita Sabah di Mata Dunia' (Sabah in the Eyes of the World). The platform aims to deliver authentic content, original documentaries, arts, culture and the breathtaking natural beauty of Sabah through a modern, flexible and globally accessible digital channel. 'This initiative will also help the state government build high-quality human capital in digital broadcasting and streaming among our local youth,' Rosmadi added.

Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat chief coordinating officer Datuk (Datu) Rosmadi Sulai, said this golden opportunity should be embraced by Sabahans in the creative sector. 'It supports the state government's vision of nurturing skilled local talent in digital broadcasting and streaming,' he said in a statement today. He added that the platform also benefits local production companies, allowing them to serve as content providers for broader markets. was officially launched on July 1 by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, under the slogan 'Sabah in the Eyes of the World.' At the launch, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat and IB Media Consultant Work Sdn Bhd, the operator of marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration. Rosmadi encouraged Sabahans, particularly influencers, industry players, and artistes to participate in this new streaming platform that highlights the state's diverse culture and talent internationally. He also assured that the state government remains open to engaging with local creatives to address concerns and strengthen the industry. 'Claims that local talents are being sidelined should not arise, as the government is always willing to listen and work with all stakeholders,' he said.

Council to chart Sabah's sustainable ocean economy

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has taken a major step towards unlocking the potential of its marine resources with the launch of the Sabah Blue Economy Council. The council will drive sustainable ocean-based growth and boost its maritime economy. "Through MEBS, we will coordinate policies, approve high-impact programmes and monitor the implementation of the Blue Economy Policy and Strategic Framework. "This integrated approach will stimulate sustainable, inclusive, and competitive economic growth," said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor after chairing the cabinet meeting here. He added that the council would drive technology transfer and innovation in the maritime sector, aligning with sustainability goals and adoption of advanced technologies. Hajiji added that the council was a crucial step in strengthening collaboration between government agencies, academia, industry players, and communities to position Sabah as a key blue economy player in Southeast Asia. "It reflects the state government's commitment to harnessing Sabah's marine resources, expanding investment and safeguarding the people's wellbeing through sustainable development," he said. With this move, Hajiji said Sabah is on a stronger path towards building a future based on maritime strength and ocean-based economic prosperity. The Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat has been appointed as the MEBS Secretariat to coordinate the council's decisions.
