Antrim boss Andy McEntee departs role after three years
Andy McEntee has departed his role as Antrim Football boss after a three year spell, the County Board has confirmed. Taking over in the summer of 2022, McEntee guided the Saffrons to successive Tailteann Cup semi-finals in 2023 and 2024 as well as safety in the third tier of the National League. However, 2024 proved to be a tough year for the county, who were relegated to Division Four and lost in the Tailteann Cup Preliminary Quarter-Finals. In an amicable parting of ways statement, McEntee said: "To the players, I would like you to know that it has been an honour to get to know and work with such a great bunch of young men. I wish you nothing but the best going forward. I will be watching. To all of the above I hope that you continue to strive to reach your potential as a county. "Finally, I would like to mention my family who never ceased to support me from Limerick to Belfast, from Sligo to Croke Park and everywhere in between" While the County Board's Statement added: "We would sincerely like to thank Andy and his entire backroom team for their service and commitment to our Senior Footballers during their term. "We wish you and your family the best of wishes for the future. You will always be welcome in the Saffron County. Thank you Andy."

Antrim and Fermanagh progress in Tailteann Cup after wins
Antrim fought back to beat London 1-22 to 1-14 at Pairc Esler and progress to the preliminary quarter-finals of the Tailteann Cup. London led 0-10 to 0-6 at the break in Newry, but a Niall Burns goal soon after the Saffrons had missed a penalty helped turn the tide in Antrim's favour as they secured their first win since February. Advertisement Fermanagh went through directly to the last eight after a 0-25 to 1-19 victory against Wexford at Croke Park secured top spot in group four. The Ernesiders trailed 1-8 to 0-9 at half-time in Dublin, but a run of five successive scores helped them to a comeback win. Super second half for Saffrons Antrim lost both of their opening two games in Group Three against Limerick and Westmeath and knew they needed to beat London to have a chance of progressing as one of the competition's best third placed teams. The Saffrons struck first in Newry through two efforts from Ryan McQuillan before four successive London scores, including a two-pointer from Conal Gallagher, edged them ahead. Advertisement McQuillan got his and Antrim's third of the afternoon, but Liam Gallagher replied with another two-pointer for London. Both sides then registered two points apiece before Conor Stewart's score just before half-time saw Antrim go in four down at the break. Paddy McBride and Dominic McEnhill both nailed two-pointers after the restart to draw Antrim level. The two teams exchanged scores before a third two-pointer of the half from Conor Hand put the Saffrons back ahead. It was nip-and-tuck up until Antrim had a penalty saved by London goalkeeper Andrew Walsh. They responded well to the miss as Niall Burns' deflected effort found the back of the net on 60 minutes. Advertisement He added a point to his goal soon after with McEnhill getting another two-pointer and McQuillian on target to give Antrim a comfortable advantage. London scored a goal late in the game, but injury-time points from Marc Jordan and McEnhill helped the Saffrons complete the turnaround and go through. Fermanagh top the group after Wexford win The Ernesiders went ahead at Croke Park with two early points before Wexford enjoyed a fruitful spell. Pairic Hughes levelled with a two-pointer before Sean Nolan fired them ahead with a goal after 11 minutes. They tagged on three more points, one of which was another two-pointer, this time from Mark Rossiter. Advertisement Kieran Donnelly's men continued to fight and rattled off four successive scores of their own to cut the gap and a few more late points, after a flurry of scores for both sides, saw them reduce the deficit to two at half-time. Glen Malone pointed for Wexford after the restart, but Fermanagh registered the next five points to move back in front. The two teams traded scores before Fermanagh managed to pull away with three consecutive points and they saw out a five-point win. Fermanagh's victory, coupled with Longford beating Carlow, handed the Ernesiders top spot in the group and a passage to the quarter-finals.
