Katigorah gang attack: 1 gets 8 years in jail, 8 others get 3-month terms
Silchar: A Cachar court sentenced a man to eight years in prison and awarded three-month jail terms to eight others in the Katigorah gang attack case that led to the death of one person and left several others injured sixteen years ago. The verdict was delivered by the fast-track court of additional district and sessions judge Bankim Sharma on Monday in connection with the incident that took place on Aug 26, 2009, at Nij Katigorah in Cachar. According to the prosecution, Sharif Uddin Barbhuiya (52) and eight others stormed the residence of their neighbour Sahir Ahmed Barbhuiya and attacked Sahir's family with weapons and sticks. Three members of the family — Mokbul Ahmed, Mamon Ahmed, and Faruk Ahmed — sustained serious injuries in the attack. Neighbours Nur Ahmed, Abdul Kuddus, and Abdul Salam, who tried to intervene, were also assaulted. In his FIR, Sahir alleged that the attackers looted Rs 20,000 in cash and gold ornaments from the house during the assault. One of the injured, Abdul Kuddus, later succumbed to his injuries. The eight others — Badrul Islam Barbhuiya, Moklisur Rahman Barbhuiya, Sahin Uddin Barbhuiya, Mohiuddin Barbhuiya, Manik Uddin Barbhuiya, Dilwar Hussain Barbhuiya alias Mithu, Mustak Ahmed, and Sab Uddin Barbhuiya — were convicted under Sections 323, 447, and 147 of BNS for assault, criminal trespass, and rioting. Court orders final challan in drug possession case against Sahir Hasan
Listen to article A local court in Karachi on Wednesday directed the investigating officer to submit the final challan in the drug possession case involving Sahir Hasan, son of renowned actor Sajid Hasan, within six days. Judicial Magistrate South, Shehzad Khawaja, issued the order during a hearing held at the judicial complex at Karachi Central Jail. The case pertains to the alleged recovery of narcotics from Sahir Hasan earlier this year. During the proceedings today, jail authorities presented the accused before the magistrate, while police submitted a corrected interim challan during the session. The judge instructed the investigating officer to finalise the case and submit the complete challan by April 22. The court also directed that the accused be produced again on the same date. Police officials informed the court that Sahir Hasan remains in custody on judicial remand. Sahir, who has worked as a model and actor, was arrested on drug possession charges, with police recovering narcotics worth Rs50 million from him. Investigators claim he had been involved in drug distribution for at least two years. Moreover, according to the SIU police, Sahir Hasan disclosed that both Mustafa Amir, and his suspected murderer Armughan, used to buy drugs from him. Investigators revealed that on January 2, Mustafa Amir acquired two grams of drugs from Sahir Hasan on credit. Later, on January 15, Armughan and Shiraz visited him and bought an ounce of drugs worth Rs350,000. During investigation, Sahir revealed an extensive drug trafficking network. According to SIU officials, the suspect disclosed that the drugs originate from Colombia and are smuggled into Pakistan via California. They arrive in Islamabad and Lahore through courier services. Two brothers, operating through the dark web, orchestrate these shipments and coordinate deliveries in Pakistan. One of their cousins facilitates the final distribution in Karachi.

According to the Specialized Investigation Unit (SIU) police, Sahir Hasan, son of TV star Sajid Hasan, has disclosed that both Mustafa Amir, and his suspected murderer Armughan, used to buy drugs from him. Investigators revealed that on January 2, Mustafa Amir acquired two grams of drugs from Sahir Hasan on credit. Later, on January 15, Armughan and Shiraz visited him and bought an ounce of drugs worth Rs350,000. During investigation, Sahir revealed an extensive drug trafficking network. According to SIU officials, the suspect disclosed that the drugs originate from Colombia and are smuggled into Pakistan via California. They arrive in Islamabad and Lahore through courier services. Police recovered 557 grams of narcotics from his possession, valued at over Rs8.3 million. Sahir admitted to running this illicit trade for two and a half years. Police investigators are now widening their probe to dismantle this network and arrest other people involved in the drug trade and Mustafa Amir's murder.
