30 athletes representing Sabah

PAPAR: A total of 30 taekwondo athletes representing Sabah were recently honoured at a send-off ceremony in conjunction with their participation in The Legendary of Taekwondo Championship, which will be held in Sungai Petani, Kedah Darul Aman. The ceremony, held at the Open Hall of SK Surati, Papar, was officiated by Datuk Pengiran Saifudin Pengiran Awang Tahir @ Datuk Ngian, Member of the Board of Directors of the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) and Deputy Chief of GRS Pantai Manis Division, recently. The Sabah contingent is led by Osmaiza Osman, who serves as the Head of the International Taekwondo Federation (ITF) Sabah contingent. According to him, this participation involves a majority of athletes from five schools in the Papar district. With the mandate given by ITF Sabah, they are representing the State in this prestigious championship. 'Throughout the four months of intensive training, the athletes have shown a high level of commitment and focus, along with an impressive attendance record. We hope to bring home as many medals as possible,' he said.
