Dubai Police invite residents to first international K9 show from April 18 to 20

For the first time, Dubai Police is rolling out the red carpet for its four-legged heroes. From April 18 to 20, the force will host the inaugural International K9 Show at the Dubai Police Officers Club, a global showcase of canine talent and training unlike anything the region has seen before. The three-day event blends high-octane police dog demos with interactive family fun, workshops, and competitions, marking a major step in spotlighting the vital role of K9s in law enforcement and beyond. Designed as a first-of-its-kind global platform for police dog units, the event will showcase the role of K9s in modern policing while offering the public an immersive, family-friendly experience. "We strive to strengthen international cooperation, especially in the field of policing and security,' said Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police. "This inaugural K9 event is a step forward in creating a dedicated platform for police dog units, showcasing our expertise in training and deploying K9s for security and rescue operations. It also opens the door for knowledge exchange and the sharing of best practices among global experts." Lieutenant Colonel Salah Al Mazrouei, Director of the K9 Security Inspection Unit, said the event reflects the crucial role of police dogs in maintaining public safety. 'With their unique abilities, K9s are indispensable partners in complex missions and rescue operations at the local, regional, and international levels,' he said. 'This show is not only a chance to boost the performance of our K9 units, but also a chance to connect with specialists from across the globe, explore cutting-edge technologies, and learn from leading experts.' He added that the show also has a strong community focus, with interactive sessions, educational workshops, and family-friendly experiences, including competitions with cash prizes. Visitors can register to attend and enjoy activities such as live dog shows, dog fashion walks, face painting, and even a 'Doggy Doodles' art zone. The event will feature more than 30 exhibitors from around the world, including dog trainers, breeders, wellness hubs, and government and private sector organisations. Dedicated areas will focus on canine health and nutrition, dog behaviour, training techniques, and breed-specific care through workshops and seminars hosted by experts. Competitions will include an FCI dog show for licensed participants, agility training demos, and K9 demonstrations by Dubai Police, where trained dogs will show their skills in detecting contraband, tracking suspects, and executing rescues. Public awards will be handed out for Best Trainer, Most Beautiful Dog, Best Dog Handler, and more. A veterinary health centre at the venue will offer both physical and psychological check-ups for dogs, while a 'dog adoption alley' will encourage pet lovers to give rescue dogs a forever home. The event is being held in partnership with Nestlé's pet nutrition brand, Purina Pro Plan. Rayan Kesrouani, business executive officer for Nestlé Purina PetCare MENA, called on families, pet lovers, and pet parents to be part of 'an engaging experience that combines education, entertainment, and a shared love for animals.'
