New Report Reveals Who the Celtics Will Not Trade

New Report Reveals Who the Celtics Will Not Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Boston Celtics have already checked off their biggest priority this offseason by trading Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to get under the NBA's second tax apron. However, they may not be done dealing. For all the players who could be traded away, The Athletic's Jay King reported on Friday that there's one player Boston plans to keep. Advertisement "Speculation has surrounded Sam Hauser's future because it likely wouldn't be difficult to find a taker for his four-year, $45 million contract, ... but the Celtics are said to be more focused on avenues that would allow them to hold onto Hauser, who has proven himself as a valuable rotation piece and one of the NBA's best shooters," King wrote. Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (8) and forward Sam Hauser (30)© David Butler II-Imagn Images King also confirmed the Celtics' desire to keep Al Horford and Luke Kornet this offseason, which hypothetically could lead to trading Hauser's contract to make room to re-sign them without crossing the NBA's second tax apron. However, as King wrote, that doesn't appear to be the case. If that's not enough, Jake Fischer reported that there haven't been any rumbles about a potential Hauser trade while explaining why Boston wouldn't trade him. Advertisement "I haven't heard any credible buzz about Sam Hauser's inclusion in serious trade conversations," Fischer wrote. Fischer added, "The interest would surely be there given Hauser's perimeter prowess and the value contract he holds over the next four years, but the Celtics have largely achieved their financial goals by moving Holiday and Porziņģis. They don't have to trade Hauser." If Hauser's not up for grabs, but the Celtics want to save money, the most obvious trade candidates would be their newest non-rookie players: Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang. Mock Trade Sends Kings' Devin Carter to Celtics For Sharpshooter

Mock Trade Sends Kings' Devin Carter to Celtics For Sharpshooter originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Sacramento Kings have many decisions to make this offseason. They're coming off a season in which they finished as the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference, but fell to the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the NBA Play-In Tournament. Advertisement Many were shocked when the Kings traded their face of the franchise, De'Aaron Fox, to the San Antonio Spurs as part of a three-team deal that landed them Zach LaVine in return from the Chicago Bulls. Fans of the Bulls will be the first to understand the limits of a team led by LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. In last year's draft, they selected Devin Carter at No. 13 overall. In a recent mock trade, the Kings are predicted to send Devin Carter east to the Boston Celtics in exchange for sharpshooter Sam Hauser. Advertisement "The 27-year-old wing is set to start his four-year $45 million extension next season, with $10 million on the books for the upcoming year," wrote Will Simmerle. "That makes his contract easily movable and gives the Kings an opportunity to acquire a wing talent who's under contract for the foreseeable future." Hauser would be a great addition with his ability to shoot the basketball. He's coming off a year in which he averaged 8.5 points this season for the Celtics on 41.6%. from deep on 5.6 attempts from 3-point land per game. Carter appeared in 36 games for the Kings and saw 11 minutes per game. He averaged 3.8 points per game on 37% shooting. The Kings could be an intriguing trade partner for the Celtics, as they're in the midst of significant roster changes in an attempt to shed salary. Should the Boston Celtics take French small forward Noah Penda in the 2025 NBA draft?

Should the Boston Celtics take French small forward Noah Penda in the 2025 NBA draft? The Celtics control the Nos. 28 and 32 picks of the '25 draft in the first and second round, respectively, and could need some cheap forward depth for the future. If Boston trades away backup 3-and-D specialist Sam Hauser into someone's cap space to save money on a potentially historic tax bill and pick up a draft asset or two, that need would be even greater. Enter Penda, a 6-foot-7 forward weighing in at 225 lbs. in his 20th year. Playing overseas in France for Le Mans Sarthe, the Frenchman passes well and put up 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, just under a block, and 1.2 steals per game in 27.3 minutes per game. The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk over his fit in Boston. Check it out below! Celtics Predicted to Make Change Amid $500 Million News

The Boston Celtics' season ended on Friday night. The New York Knicks eliminated them in Game 6, which means the Celtics now turn to the offseason with a lot of questions. The Celtics will be above the NBA's second tax apron like they have been for the last two seasons. That will come with some major restrictions and ramifications, which Boston may want to avoid. Advertisement ESPN's Bobby Marks revealed the Celtics are expected to more than double their $240 million payroll this season, putting them in the $500 million range between salaries and tax penalties that come with the league's new CBA. Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (8) and forward Sam Hauser (30)© David Butler II-Imagn Images The Celtics are predicted to cut some costs to get under those tax aprons. Marks revealed some of the potential changes for Boston: "The second option is cutting costs but also keeping the foundation in place... to compete next season but also with an eye toward the future... How the Celtics go about that plan could come from a combination of moving Kristaps Porzingis, Sam Hauser, and possibly Jrue Holiday." Advertisement Marks went on to explain how the Celtics could trade Porzingis, which could help their efforts to get below the NBA's second tax apron. "By trading Porzingis' expiring $30.7 million contract, Boston would drop below the second apron," he added. "... There is also the option of trading Porzingis and taking back $22 million in contracts. While that does not drop Boston below the second apron, it would start the process of reducing salary." He didn't delve into Holiday much, but Holiday will enter the second year of a four-year, $134.4 million contract. Next season, he'll be paid $32.4 million, and by the end of that contract, he'll be paid $37.2 million. Advertisement With Jayson Tatum out indefinitely, and Jaylen Brown possibly having offseason knee surgery that could keep him out, the Celtics may have extra inventive to get under those aprons.
