Among those who did attend, 20% of people from Scotland had cut back on essentials to afford a ticket, while 10% spent more on live music than on a monthly household bill. Grassroots music is at the heartbeat of the scene and those early gigs shaped who I am as an artist. These spaces allow live music to be an experience available to everyone, that's why they're so important, and I'm stoked to be a part of the team helping to keep that alive!' Sam speaks about his experience and passion for grassroots music in the video here. Greene King Untapped is part of Live at Your Local, where 870 pubs will be hosting music themed events across the UK this summer. Designed to celebrate the power of music bringing people together, it offers something for everyone including high-energy karaoke nights and engaging music quizzes, to electrifying performances by live bands and expertly curated playlists to get people into the summer spirit. Thunderstorms halt Ludlow Comedy Festival
Thunderstorms interrupted the Ludlow Comedy Festival on Sunday night as audience members were evacuated from the castle grounds.A set by Ivo Graham was stopped midway, as organisers urged people to leave the festival site at about 16:10 spent just over an hour outside until thunderstorms had said they had been tracking lightning strikes as part of their Adverse Weather Plan and had evacuated the castle on advice from their on-site safety advisor. They thanked audience members for "assisting with this precautionary evacuation" and for "doing so in an orderly and efficient manner", which they said helped in getting the venue open again as soon as afterwards, Ivo Graham said he had only managed five minutes of his set and had offered to carry on after the event resumed, but was told it was not possible. A yellow Met Office warning had been in place for Ludlow and much of Shropshire on Sunday, which also led to bursts of heavy comedy festival was part of a series of live shows at Ludlow Castle that since Thursday have seen performances by The Script, Sam Ryder, Faithless and Texas. Amazon Prime Day 2025 - the best deals in my basket
It launched this morning with Sam Ryder sitting on a big Amazon box by the Thames. Since 2015, Amazon Prime Day has remained the top event in the annual shopping calendar, giving members exclusive access to deals across their website. I've put together a list of what's in my basket today, in case you wanted to see what a personal finance journalist might buy. It's not sponsored and I don't get commission - this is just the stuff I'll be buying today or I've already bought. The king of airfryers is back on sale, with 43% off. Mine was a Christmas gift and has been going for three years, but if it ever packs up I'll definitely grab another in a sale like this. Was £218.99, now £124,99 We have a couple of these for TVs around the house and they've been great, but if I need a new one I'll always wait 'til Prime Day or Black Friday, as Amazon slashes the prices - it's currently £32 off, so less than half price. Usually £59.99, now £27.99 (Image: Ultenic) I'm very much of the belief that technological advances should mean robots doing our chores, so I've tried a fair few labour-saving devices at home, and this is my favourite. It's better value than most of its rivals, and with powerful 4000Pa suction it gives pretty good cleaning across all floor types with automatic suction boost on carpets. I have one already and I'm getting another this Prime Day to use upstairs. It cleans for up to 150 minutes; auto-recharges and resumes cleaning from where it left off. This new one lets you customise cleaning sequences, from post-playdate mess to kitchen clean-ups, so I'm looking forward to trying that out. Usually £199.99, Prime Day deal £144.99 I bought one of these a few months ago to replace our old hub, and it's been great. It has decent video calling, high-quality sound and a 13 MP camera. At a push, you can even watch content on Prime Video, Netflix and more, comes to life with an HD display and room-filling spatial audio. Ask Alexa to stream Amazon Music, Apple Music or Spotify. I also manage cameras, lights and all the other smart tech we have - even the robot vacuum - and unlike the old one, I don't have to keep repeating myself for it to understand. One added bonus too - I use it as a dog camera to spy on the dogs when I'm not in the room. Usually £149.99, now £89.99 This one is on Sam Ryder's list, which he shared at the launch today, and it's also on mine - or at least it was on a previous Prime Day sale. I've had mine a couple of years and it's been brilliant - fast, reliable and easy to use. Mine gets used most days and is showing no sign of slowing down, but if it does, I'll definitely get another. Usually £69.99, now £55.99 There's 60% off these great kids' tablets. I have them for my kids and they have lasted well, and offer good parental controls. There's a no-quibble two-year warranty too - I've had two replaced over the years with no fuss. Usually £149.99, now £59.99 (Image: Ohuhu) The summer holidays loom large, and Amazon Prime Day is a good chance to stock up on art and craft materials to keep kids busy - and away from screens. These Ohuhu Pupe Paper-Friendly Color Markers are fantastic for adults and older kids, with both a 1-7mm soft brush tip and a 0.4mm fineliner. The Honolulu also comes with a free carrying case to keep the markers organised, ready to take away on holiday. Pupe set, usually £35.99, now £28.80 Honolulu B set usually £39.99, now £32 This one is on offer at a great price, but I don't want to get into another paid subscription for Ring, so instead I bought a Tapo one with a memory card, and never need to pay a subscription. But, if you want the Ring option, it's on sale today. Usually 99.99, now £49.99 Recommended reading: Everything you need to know about the biggest ever Amazon Prime Day sale Five ways to get a good deal in the Amazon Prime Day sale I've saved thousands on Amazon Subscribe and Save - here's how While these deals remain top of many shoppers' wish lists, the team at easyfundraising has a way for your online purchases to go further with their fundraising method, which saw Amazon customers raise over £82,000 last year – all at no extra cost. How does it work? When shopping via easyfundraising, online retailers, like Amazon, donate a small percentage of your purchase to your favourite cause – all because you visited the easyfundraising website or app first. In short, shopping via the easyfundraising platform means each time you make an online purchase, you can raise free donations for your favourite cause – all at no extra cost. Meaning how you purchase your new air fryer, smartphone, or Alexa could raise funds to help a scout group, grassroots football club, or even local community centre. You could even get a free £10 donation to their favourite good cause if they sign up to Amazon Music. So even if you're shopping around for a new streaming subscription, shopping via easyfundraising makes your online purchases mean more – without costing you a penny extra.
