He called upon IRCS DK members to put in efforts into making the new centenary building serve as a hub for public welfare activities. "Being a symbol of humanity and selfless service, the IRCS has upheld its ideals for decades. It has been standing as a supporting force with its humanitarian services in times of illness and crisis. The only religion before the IRCS is humanity, and it works for the welfare of society, thereby offering happiness to all," he said. The campaigns of the IRCS instilled confidence among people and made them understand that blood donation is the greatest gift one can give," he added. Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, lauding the efforts of DK IRCS, said that he will extend his support to avail funds through CSR initiatives and govt schemes to expand the Red Cross Society activities in the district. "Operation Sindoor killed over 100 terrorists, yet Congress undermines Army": BJP's Chalavadi Narayanaswamy

Kalaburagi (Karnataka) [India], May 21 (ANI): Sharply criticising Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's comments on Operation Sindoor, BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy on Wednesday said that Congress is unnecessarily questioning the actions of the armed forces even after government and the top army officials clearly elaborated on how Operation Sindoor was carried out. 'Mallikarjun Kharge is a very senior leader yet he is making such unwanted remarks. More than 100 terrorists have been killed by our armed forces, our government explained them how armed forces carried out operations yet they are questioning the actions of the army,' Narayanaswamy told ANI. Terming Operation Sindoor a 'small war', Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday attacked the government over its response to the US claims about mediation between India and Pakistan and said 'it has not providing clarity to the people of the country regarding US President Trump's statements.' Speaking at the Samarpana Sankalpa Samavesh rally in Karnataka's Vijayanagara, Kharge alleged that intelligence agencies had prior information about a possible attack in the region and questioned why tourists were not informed. Earlier on Tuesday, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy also rebuked Kharge's description of Operation Sindoor as a 'small war,' calling it an insult to the valour and sacrifice of the armed forces. He accused the Congress president of attempting to diminish the courage, capability, and strategic strength of India's soldiers by downplaying the operation. Kishan Reddy added that it was 'baffling' that Congress leaders were disturbed when the world was praising India's counter-terrorism efforts. Operation Sindoor was launched by India on May 7 in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. The operation targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the elimination of over 100 terrorists. On May 10, both countries agreed to cease hostilities. (ANI)

Kharge blames Union govt. for Pahalgam killings

Referring to the recent killing of 26 innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, All India Congress Committee president and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has squarely blamed the Union government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what he said failing to ensure the safety of civilians. 'Mr. Modi was scheduled to visit Kashmir on April 17 but cancelled his trip after receiving an intelligence report regarding the security situation in the Valley. If he was aware of the threat, why were no measures taken to protect tourists? Why was no warning issued advising tourists to avoid the region? Had he done so, 26 lives could have been saved and the small armed clashes with Pakistan could have been avoided,' Mr. Kharge said. He was addressing the Samarpana Sankalpa Samavesha in Hosapete, Vijayanagara district, on Tuesday to mark the completion of two years of Congress rule in Karnataka. Mr. Kharge further criticised the Union government's handling of intelligence stating: 'Pakistan is attempting to destabilise India with China's support, but we will not allow it. We are united. For us nation comes first; caste, religion and other differences come later. For some people, Mr. Modi comes first, and the country later. Intelligence inputs are used to protect the Prime Minister but not shared in ways that could safeguard ordinary citizens.' Highlighting the Congress' historic role in India's freedom struggle, Mr. Kharge accused the Union government of targeting the party through Central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax Department. 'Your attempts to weaken us will not succeed. The Congress will never bow to threats. Without consulting us, the government unilaterally decided the composition of the delegation responsible for briefing foreign governments on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Yet, in the interest of national unity, we accepted it. The Congress won India's freedom and drafted the Constitution. It is our duty to protect both, we will do it,' he said. Taking an aim at the Prime Minister's absence from critical national discussions, Mr. Kharge added: 'When we attend meetings to deliberate on national issues, Mr. Modi chooses to campaign in Bihar. Two all-party meetings were organised, he did not attend either. If he truly cares for the country, why did he not participate? Had we skipped the meetings, we would have been branded anti-national.' The event was attended by several senior Congress leaders, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, and others.
