Owners let dogs roam unleashed in Punggol and Sengkang, one confronts resident who calls him out

Owners let dogs roam unleashed in Punggol and Sengkang, one confronts resident who calls him out Two Stompers have separately raised concerns about irresponsible pet owners letting their dogs roam off-leash in public housing estates. In one case, a man was confronted after allegedly letting two small dogs run free near Block 123B Rivervale Drive in Sengkang on May 25 at about 10.04am. Stomper Mukund, told Stomp: "I asked the man why he didn't leash his dogs, and he simply replied, 'I will not', 'I don't care lah', and 'Whatever'." The situation escalated when the man allegedly stepped closer to Mukund and confronted him with a "threatening tone". "Seeing this behaviour, the dogs went out of control and started charging towards me," said Mukund, who recorded a video after the altercation and lodged a police report. In the video, the man asks the Stomper: "What's your problem?" Mukund replies: "You are the problem, because you don't even have the basic courtesy to leash your dogs in a housing area." The man says: "Ya, ya, ya, you come here and teach me how to do things la." Mukund responds: "Of course." The resident told Stomp: "I am not against pet animals, but this kind of careless behaviour in public spaces is unacceptable and goes against the Control of Dogs Act." In another incident reported by Stomper Subah, a man was spotted letting his large breed dog roam off-leash near Block 132 Edgedale Plains in Punggol -- not once, but twice on the same day. "The dog looked like a Samoyed or Chow Chow and was walking freely in the neighbourhood," said Subah, who sent in two videos of the dog taken on July 9. "The owner only picked up the leash after he noticed I was filming him at about 7.40pm. "But when I passed by again at around 8.15pm, the dog was once again alone and off-leash while the man was further away using his phone." Pet owners are required by law to leash their dogs in public places. The maximum fine is $5,000. Watch dog soar through the sky in his custom paragliding harness

Ouka's owner, Shams, told USA TODAY, the two have been flying for a few years now and that his dog enjoys accompanying him on these adventures. Who said dogs can't fly? Ouka, a 6½-year-old Samoyed, often defies gravity by paragliding through the skies in a custom harness alongside his human companion. Video footage of a recent flight in the Norway shows the dog sitting comfortably between his owner's legs, enjoying the wind as it ruffles his thick white fur. Watch dog soar through the skies in his custom paragliding harness Shams, a filmmaker who shares his paragliding adventures on Instagram, told USA TODAY that he and Ouka have been flying for a few years now, and his pet pooch loves joining him on these sky-high adventures. But that wasn't always the case. Living in India during the height of the pandemic, Shams felt lonely. "I was there with my van, but COVID and heartbreak pushed me to come back to Europe," he shared. "It was quite a difficult time for me as I was in depression." The filmmaker received a Facebook post from friends about Ouka, who was looking for a new family. Two weeks later, he found himself at the shelter in France where the dog was living. "Ouka was not super lucky, neither in his previous life as he was (with) two different families before me," Shams said. Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle. Training Ouka for the skies The two started flying together just two months after Shams adopted Ouka in 2021. "It was quite fast, but very easy," Shams said. "I went through different steps to check if he was okay to fly with me." According to Shams, he figured his dog was not afraid of heights because Ouka would "always be standing next to (a) big cliff" when they went hiking together. After several rounds of training, during which Ouka observed pilots flying, he got a custom harness from a French company called Ripair, and the two were ready for takeoff. What was Ouka's, Shams' best flight experience? Shams said he also taught the dog to come between his legs and run on the command of "take off." The two have been on multiple adventures together now, Shams said, adding they always aim to fly in good conditions, "which means, perfect wind speed and orientation." The most unique flight they've been on was when they flew "above the Arctic Polar Circle in Norway on Senja Island," Shams said. Besides parasailing, the two enjoy running together in the summer and skiing in winter as they travel around Europe in their van. "We spent quite some time in Norway (in the) last (few) months skijoring," Shams said. Skijoring is a winter sport involving a dog pulling Nordic skis, according to the Heber Valley, Utah. 'To make him happy makes me very happy' Shams said Ouka, which means "cherry blossom" in Japanese, is always happy and easy to live with. "(He) just wants cuddles from everybody (and) is super expressive," Shams said. "He helped me find motivation to do stuff when I was depressed. I think I needed him as much as he needed me. To make him happy makes me very happy." This story was updated to fix an error. Saman Shafiq is a trending news reporter for USA TODAY. Video: Samoyed Turns Coffee Table Into Bed When Her Usual Spot Is Occupied

What does your pooch do when you hijack their usual resting or sleeping place? Bark and throw tantrums? Well, that's what most of the pups do. But it seems like this Samoyed, Nube, does not believe in wasting her energy by barking at the owner's mistake. Instead, she finds another spot, which might not be as comfy as her usual spot, but serves the purpose. Wondering which new spot the fur baby finds? Look at the video to see Samoyed's new bed. For this Samoyed, Nube, the sofa is her favorite place in the house to rest and enjoy some TV time with her pet parents. However, when her hooman friend takes over her place, the canine does the unthinkable. Instead of showing her frustration, Nube finds a new bed, which is most likely her pet parents' favorite spot. In the video uploaded by @nubethesamoyed, the pet parent captures the hilarious move of the canine. The owner shows how, after putting 'pillows' in her 'dog's spot on the sofa' in the living room, the fur baby conveniently finds a new resting spot — the coffee table. The paw parent captures Nube getting comfortable on her new bed by lying on her back before shifting sideways to feel better. The Samoyed's idea of converting the coffee table into her bed took the owner by surprise as they mentioned in the post, 'I've now found out that whenever the pillows are set up in her spot of the sofa, that's when she goes on the coffee table,' hinting she is the queen of the house. Nube's new makeshift bed even left netizens in stitches. Many netizens expressed their viewpoint on the Instagram video, with one saying, 'I've never seen anything like this before! WOW!' While another person wrote, 'She is living her best life wherever, whenever.' Another individual mentioned, 'A natural problem solver. Smart!.' Another user commented, 'Dramatic way to resolve a dramatic problem.' The post Video: Samoyed Turns Coffee Table Into Bed When Her Usual Spot Is Occupied appeared first on DogTime.
