Samsung Electronics Levant has successfully completed a course on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to cultivate key human resources under its e-learning program, Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC). A total of 41 students from Jordan and Iraq were certified for their achievements throughout the 9-week course. The course was led by world-class data science expert, Mrad Sleiman, supported by three facilitators. The 265-hour course focused on both the theory and practice of AI—both machine and deep learning. The course consisted of three main components: Interactive live session every week, covering various topics and providing direct mentorship; asynchronous learning, where students had access to the content at all times, so they can learn at their own time; and 24/7 support from formal program Slack channels and via email. Over 1,000 applications were received, with only the top 60 students getting selected to participate. This free course covered the essential knowledge and tools to upskill participants between the ages of 18 and 29 with core competencies necessary to shape the future of technology. Throughout the course, students gained practical experience on the process of design, implementation, and results communication; learned AI modeling based on mathematics; and grasped the landscape of data science tools and their applications. Jongho Kang, Managing Director at Samsung Electronics Levant, said, 'At Samsung, we are deeply committed to education that not only empowers individuals but also drives meaningful change in society through technology. I am proud of the success of the Samsung Innovation Campus program, which has equipped these talented students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in an increasingly tech-driven world. By investing in their growth, we're helping to shape the next generation of leaders who will lead us into the future.' SIC aims to empower the youth and upskill them to lead the next generation of leaders in tech and help shape the future. This is done by providing core tech competencies such as AI, Internet of Things (IoT), coding and programming, in addition to a range of soft skills to enhance their employment prospects.
