The police are searching for a 21-year-old man who went missing in Sydenham in June. Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said Clinton Rossouw left his flat at Voyle Court, Milner Street, on June 28 and never returned home. She said he was wearing a white cap, grey and light blue hooded jersey, grey tracksuit pants and brown shoes at the time of his disappearance. A 32-year-old police officer allegedly shot and killed two women before taking his own life this morning, 18 July 2025. The shooting incident allegedly occurred in a flat at Gordon Terrace, Central, in Gqeberha at around 09:30. According to a SAPS media statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa, officers were called to Gordon Terrace. Upon arrival, police officers found the bodies of two women with gunshot wounds, along with the body of a man who had also sustained a gunshot wound. Police have confirmed that the deceased male was a 32-year-old off-duty constable stationed at Algoa Park SAPS. It is alleged that the constable shot the two women before turning the gun on himself. The motive is still under investigation. The identities of the deceased will be released once their next of kin have been notified. Another murder sent shockwaves through Gqeberha after the body of a 12-year-old girl was found dead in a bushy area in Bethelsdorp, Gqeberha. According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, officers responded to the scene around 12:45 on Wednesday, 16 July, and found the child with visible injuries. The cause of death is not yet known and will be confirmed following a postmortem. No suspects have been identified, and the motive is currently unknown. Woman arrested during violent service delivery protests in Wells Estate

A Gqeberha woman will appear in court soon on a host of charges including public violence and arson after a violent protest in Well Estate resulted in the torching of a bus and panel van, as well as an attempt to burn the councillor's office. Polices spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the 48-year-old was arrested on Tuesday during a two-day service delivery protest in the area. She was detained on charges in terms of the Criminal Matters Amendment Act 18/2015 sec 3 (a)(b) relating to damage to infrastructure and public violence, the National Road Traffic Act 93/1996 regulation 319(1) for hindering or obstructing traffic on a public road and regulation 319(2) for placing an object on a road that could endanger traffic, arson, the Explosives Act 26/1956 (petrol bombs sec 28) and malicious damage to property. 'The protests started on Monday within the Wells Estate community at Rabie Village and this [Tuesday] morning at about 5.15am,' Janse van Rensburg said. 'It started again when members of the community allegedly threw a petrol bomb towards the councillor's office.' She said the fire was extinguished quickly and there was no damage to the office. 'At about 6am, the community members started burning tyres and rubbish in front of the multipurpose hall and a female suspect was arrested by the Metro police. 'At about 6.40am, in Anvuyo Street, Wells Estate, the community of Rabie village torched a bus and a panel van.' Janse van Rensburg said no-one was injured and the SAPS was monitoring the situation. 'Public Order Police stabilised the situation using rubber bullets and stun grenades. 'The situation is calm, and Public Order Police members will remain in the area. 'Motorists are urged to be cautious when travelling in Wells Estate, or to make use of alternative routes.' Wells Estate Ward 60 councillor Thembinkosi Mafana could not be reached for comment. JUST IN: Another woman 'kidnapped' in Gqeberha

A woman was kidnapped in Cleary Park, Gqeberha, on Thursday, according to the SA Police Service (SAPS). Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the incident was under investigation. Her age was not immediately known. 'Gelvandale police confirmed that they were attending to a complaint of an alleged kidnapping,' Janse van Rensburg said. 'No further information is available and the investigation is ongoing.' Janse van Rensburg did not disclose the woman's name. The Herald understands she is the daughter of a well-known club owner in Nelson Mandela Bay's northern areas. Police sources said she had been snatched from her boyfriend's Cleary Park home. Attempts to contact the club for comment proved futile. This is a developing story.

Woman is held for ‘beating toddler with a bottle'

A Nelson Mandela Bay woman has been arrested for allegedly assaulting her three-year-old child with a bottle. Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said Motherwell police attended to a complaint in the Shukushukuma area at about 6.30pm on Thursday. 'On arrival they were informed by a witness that while passing a house, he noticed the female suspect assaulting her three-year-old son with an empty bottle,' Janse van Rensburg said. 'The witness entered the house to intervene and managed to stop the woman and alerted the police. 'The boy was taken to hospital by family and had visible injuries to his head and face. 'The female suspect was arrested on charges of attempted murder and child abuse.' Janse van Rensburg said the 35-year-old woman would appear in the Motherwell magistrate's court on Monday. The matter is being investigated by the family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit. The Herald
