Malayalam producers to ask actors and crew to sign ‘no drugs' affidavit with remuneration contract during shoots
The Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) has decided to require Mollywood cast and crew to sign a 'no drugs' affidavit along with their remuneration contract. An OnManorama report claims that the KFPA is doing this to keep filming locations drug-free. (Also Read: Producer-actor Sandra Thomas claims budgets are being set aside on Mollywood sets for drugs: 'Everyone is aware of it') The KFPA proposes making it mandatory for actors and technicians to sign a 'no drugs' affidavit along with their remuneration contract. The plan is to implement this on 26 June, International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. These affidavits will prevent the signee from taking drugs not just at the filming location but also at their accommodations. The KPFA has written to FEFKA and AMMA to rope them in. FEFKA has already reportedly agreed to co-sign this initiative, while AMMA will discuss it at their general body meeting before taking a stand. They have been asked to share their opinion by 24 June. Should the idea be approved, actors, technicians and everyone involved in filming will be required to sign the affidavit. They will be held accountable for any violation of said agreement and for causing losses to the producer. This comes after Shine Tom Chacko was arrested in April for alleged drug use before being released on bail. Back then, when police tried to catch hold of him at a hotel, he fled. His co-actor Vincy Aloshious also accused him of misbehaviour on set after taking drugs. He was disciplined by AMMA for the incident. In the same month, directors Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza were arrested for possession of drugs. Producer Haseeb Malabar accused Sreenath Bhasi of demanding 'stuff' like cannabis during a film shoot. In May, accusations have also surfaced of producers setting aside budgets to provide drugs to stars during shooting, by Sandra Thomas.

Sandra Thomas receives death threats from production controllers: ‘Beat her to death and dump her in a forest': Shocking audio clip OUT
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Producer Sandra Thomas is facing shocking death threats and abuse from two production controllers—Renny Joseph and Mukesh Thrippunithura—after her public remarks questioning the relevance of their role in the film industry. The threats were shared as audio messages in an official WhatsApp group of production controllers, causing widespread outrage. 'Beat Sandra to death and dump her…' As reported by Reporter TV live, the controversy stems from chilling voice messages in which Renny Joseph is heard threatening to 'beat Sandra to death and dump her in a forest.' He also issues a threat to kill Sandra's father, Thomas. He brags about calling Sandra late at night and verbally abusing her, accusing her of forgetting that her position in the industry came from the 'generosity' of production controllers. 'If she speaks against us again, we'll take her father, beat him, and go to jail for it,' the message said. In another clip, Mukesh Thrippunithura echoes the hostility, accusing Sandra of arrogance after producing just 'two or three films.' The voice goes like, 'Hasn't she done just two or three films and is now acting high and mighty? When the Producers Association banned her, her mental state declined. So, she tried entering through another door — targeting production controllers. Let us decide: There is no such woman called Sandra Thomas in our industry. No one should work on her films. FEUOK should take a decision, and no union member should work with her. Let her bark from wherever she is.' Thudarum - Official Teaser Sandra speaks out: 'This is how the system silences women' Sandra Thomas responded to the media by saying the messages were posted in an official group, yet FEFKA's General Secretary failed to act. Despite filing a police complaint two months ago, no legal action has been taken so far. She condemned the industry's silence and added, 'Many goons are operating under the FEFKA umbrella. Now the public sees why the Hema Committee complainants never came forward. This is the price women pay for speaking out.' She reiterated that she would not step back despite the threats, stating the attacks were targeted because she is a woman who dared to challenge such situations happening in the industry. What's the issue? The issue began after Sandra, in a YouTube interview, questioned the relevance of the 'Production Controller' title in Malayalam cinema. She argued that many in the role function more as artist managers and often lack basic production skills. She also alleged financial irregularities involving some controllers who became unexpectedly wealthy. Sandra claims that producers have no real say in hiring decisions because of FEFKA's influence, which she believes is at the heart of the backlash. Who is Sandra Thomas? Actor-producer claims 'budgets' are allotted for drugs in Malayalam film industry
Amid several claims of rampant drug use in the Malayalam film industry, actress-producer Sandra Thomas alleged that drug abuse has been normalised on film sets. She said that separate rooms and dedicated budgets are being allocated for drugs in the industry now. In an On Manorama interview, Sandra said, "A special budget is being allotted exclusively for this. Even separate rooms are allotted for this purpose." She also slammed the industry people for not taking a stand against the situation despite one after another incident. Sandra Thomas is best known for starring in Malayalam films like Amen, Mimics Parade, O' Faby, Peruchazhi, Aakashvani, Aadu, Kili Poyi and Zachariayude Garbhinikal. Besides acting, Sandra co-founded the production company Friday Film House, with producer Vijay Babu. Later, Sandra and Vijay Babu had a fallout and she moved on to establish her own production banner, Sandra Thomas Productions. She has also backed projects like Zachariayude Garbhinikal and Philips and the Monkey Pen. Sandra is married to Wilson John Thomas who is a businessman and owner of an event management company. Together they have twin daughters who were born in 2018. She is quite popular on Instagram. She also has a YouTube channel with 180K subscribers. Sandra recently made headlines when she opened up about the alleged drug situation in Mollywood. She said that the industry associations should have taken a 'proper stand' against drug abuse five to ten years ago to avoid the current state of the industry. She said, 'Everyone was aware of what was happening on sets. But no one took corrective steps, as they needed these people for future projects. Now, a special budget is being allocated exclusively for this. Even separate rooms are allotted for this purpose. However, the associations say the entire industry cannot be blamed just because of one or two people.' Sandra even called out producer Listin Stephen for not taking a stand. She said people irrespective of their status now indulge in drug use. She added, 'Aren't people like Listin aware of this problem? Don't they know that drugs are lavishly available and are being used on sets? They have refused to take a step against it. It has now reached the stage where both men and women, and everyone, irrespective of their status, use it. Producers are unwilling to raise a complaint because of the fear that it will stall their projects. If someone is caught on the sets, the shooting gets stalled. It also ruins the goodwill of the actor.'
